The dark mare walked between the thinning trees marking the end of the forest. Her white mane trailed next to her, her head held up for the first time in many moons. The white markings of her front legs glowed in the setting sun, as did her mane and tail, giving her an ethereal look. The moons and her troubles had aged the mare, but she was still fit for travel. She paused, ears twitching, and looked off to one side.
She could hear the footsteps of another, but she wasn't sure who or what it was. Duskai stayed next to a tree, just incase it wasn't someone she wanted to meet.

The forest was within reach, so if the need arose the purple and gold male walking just along the edge could easily slip into the trees and escape from sight with just a few hoofbeats. His ears flicked forward once or twice as he walked, listening for any sound that was out of place, never pausing more than a second. He didn't want to reach his viewing place too late to see the stars rise. It seemed empty enough out here, which was all the better. He could wait for the sun to completely vanish and enjoy the sky as it changed from purples to the deep blackness dusted with stars in peace, and without bothering anyone.
Mostly. He paused a step when he thought he'd heard something in the trees, but looking that direction didn't show him anything out of the ordinary. "It must have been a bird fleeing then." Nothing more.

The dark mare snorted softly, and tossed her head. Her white mane flew out from her body in reaction. The quiet mare rolled her eyes at herself; what a scared little filly she was. Duskai stepped away from the trees some, eyes scanning for what had made the sounds.
Her eyes fell on a purple and gold stallion. She tensed, thinking the gold scales on his back meant he was not so nice. Upon further inspection, she noticed the stallion to be a Kirin, though his horns weren't the norm. She stayed silent for a time, before calling out in a voice louder than she usually used.
"Out for a walk as well?" she asked him, head tilted a bit to the side.

A voice interrupting his musings nearly sent the stallion into a small panic. Taking a few precious seconds to realize that one, the voice was feminine, and two, not threatening, he managed to keep his calm. His eyes seek out the speaker, and settle on a mare that seems to blend in with the darkening sky - if not for her mane and tail.
"A walk? Yes, I was I guess. I always walk though." Of course he feels somewhat foolish for saying such a thing, who didn't always walk? No one really stayed in one place.
