Hey guys! It's your new host Princess Angelishia here. One of the first things we need to do is choose our theme. So let's get to it! I stickied the thread for theme discussion. This thread is NOT for theme discussion. This is for official theme suggestions. Here is where when you have a theme suggestion you like, you can post it and post some rough ideas for the rooms that go along with it. Sometime next weekend, I will close this thread and make a voting thread, so that we can get started choosing themes.
The purpose of this thread is to get a nice, clean list of well-liked ideas and the rooms that might go with them.
-The same theme can be suggested multiple times here as long as the rooms are different. -If too many themes are suggested for a poll we will have to find a way to thin them out first.

Midnight Murder Mystery Movie Mayhem! A.K.A. Mmmmm! On the movie set of Gaia's new Film Studio, a famous actor is found dead. Their blood is found on every movie that is being filmed on the studio lot! All the films are in jepordy as other stars from these films are winding up dead! Who is the culprit and can the show really go on? Each room will be a genre. Historical/Romance which will be making a film about William Shakespeare’s plays. Action which can be like James Bond or super heroes. Sci-fi/fantasy can be the time traveling thing along with magic and such. And Etc, etc, etc. And each day an actor will either "die" or go "missing" depending on the plot. I figure this will make everyone happy. ^w^ also. The list I made up was Action / Crime Adventure Comedy Documentary Drama / Historical / Romance Family Horror / Thriller / Suspense Musical Mystery (main theme) Science Fiction / Fantasy Sport War Western (We can mush some together. ^w^) for the rooms. c: So like it goes So each room has it's own plot and each main character (actor/actress) dies. Well my idea was to have the studio director and assistants involved, have a dead body go missing and add a few twists and turns here and there. Also the janitorial staff is also involved as suspects. But basically how it starts is that "Actor/tress" has finished shooting for the night. They're on the phone with their publicist/manager and opening their car door to leave when they realize they forgot their wallet/purse/jacket/etc., back in the studio. So they run back to get it. The next morning everyone comes on set to find person is lying on the floor, dead.

ok! heres my idea! it's from a game my friend told me about called rhapsody: a musical adventure!
characters: now, the heroine of the story is a girl named cornett who has the strange ability to talk to puppets with a magical horn. the main host can be cornett. then theres cornett best friend, kururu, a puppet who doesnt need cornetts horn, and supposedly holds a secret, i think she reveals at the end of the game, but my friend just told me about it so idk, but kururu can be played by like a main co-host. then there are the other main characters: etoile rosenqueen, a friend and rival of cornett, and a spoiled noble, prince ferdinando marle, who cornett dreams of marrying, hes your typical prince charming. those are the heros of the game. now the villians of the game are: an evil witch queen named majorly, whos your typical 'i think i'm the greatest but i'm really clumsy' villian of the game, who pretty much loves any pretty young boys out there, and unfortunately that means the prince, so she kidnaps by, mistakingly, turning him to stone, but she really meant to out him to sleep and naturally cornett goes to rescue him. then theres majorlys 3 lackeys: myao, the main, optimistic, instigator of majorlys lackeys. she childish and out-going, but despite her cutesy appearance shes a pretty powerful summoner, and summons a dragon on cornett before shes stopped by ferdinando at the beginning of the game, then theres crowdia, shes the vain swordsman type, her sword skills are beyond perfection and shes pretty self centered with her beauty and skill with the blade, then theres gao, the hot headed 'i solve problems with my fists' type of girl, but she looks SO much like a guy its not even funny! the finally, another hero i missed, there cherie, who i dont know the point of in the game... but she has the blood of the 'ancients' and has the ability to turn into a kind of angel when she releases her power, and shes mature, charming, and childish at the same time. rooms: we could have rooms for different places in the game: cornetts, house, majorlys castle, ferdinando's castle, the town, etc.
room hosts: now, cornett and kururu would be the main host and main co-host and could also lead cornetts house, majorly and her lackeys would lead majorlys castle, ferdinando would lead ferdinando's castle, and etolile could lead the town to start with.
story: this is taken straight off the rhapsody site, but we could tweak it a bit, like have cornett need to find clues as to how to get to majorlys castle, and how to free ferdinando and stuff: cornett, a young girl from orange village in marl kingdom, has the mysterious ability to communicate with puppets. one day, in a nearby forest, cornett and her friend kururu are attacked by the servants of an evil witch! suddenly, a dashing hero appears to rescue them and sweep them off their feet! who could have guessed it was marl kingdoms prince ferdinando?! cornett falls head-over-heels in love for the strong, noble prince. at first, shes worried about the difference in their social rank, but kururu advises her that 'its all about action!' and she begins to believe in herself! she enters a 'miss marl' contest, hoping to win the prince's hand in marriage... and she wins! but just as shes reunited with her dear prince, the castle is attacked by the evil witch and her lackeys from before! the witch turns the prince to stone and carries him away! cornett then decides its her job to track down the nasty witch and rescue her beloved prince!
also, we could do a zelda theme, and the different rooms could be the different zelda games (majoras mask, ocarina of time, etc) and the hosts could be the 7 sages, zelda, link, ganon, etc.

Archaeology/lost civilizations/feudal lands theme/time travel!
Basically, the Annual Ball would take a look into past times such as ancient Egypt and other historical places by hosting an archaeological event. The main room would be the dig site, and the other rooms were found to be living history of different areas. Some rooms could be: Ancient Egypt (Pyramids and pharaohs) Feudal Japan (Dynasties and emperors) 'Feudal' America (Cowboys and railroads) Ancient Greece

Hi there! I've taken the list on Wizard of Wordiness' thread and I've put it here. I've taken out some of the suggestions that might be a little flimsy, and I've added some comment's on some others. I'm sorry if I sound harsh.
Shakespeare This idea seems workable. The room hosts could be characters from different plays. Some shakespeare plays that would be good rooms Henry VIII, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, A Midsummer's Night Dream, Macbeth. The plot could be something like... the gaians have fallen into a portal into the Shakespeare world?
I can see some problems forming with this... The Shakespeare themed RIG might affect the originality, but the items would be very good!
Literature This is do-able. Each room is a different book yes? Some good suggestions, nursery rhymes, shakespeare, and some different pieces from different eras and places. Like Huckleberry Finn, Alice in Wonderland, and Ragtime. We could have some folk tales thrown in there. Plot: Maybe, the protagonist stumbles into a library, and knocks over a shelf full of books and knocks him/her out. And this is happening in dreamland? There would be an antagonist that tries to kill him/her, or keep them in there forever.. and the ball goers try to help him/her to get out?
Cultures of the World I see how different rooms can be formed from this, but I don't see a plotline that could hold it all together. OH. Maybe we could be traveling?
Disney Erm... maybe a little copyright infringement? I'm kidding. We would be basing rooms off of the movies, right? Like mulan, and toy story, and beauty and the beast? Then again, the plot might not be so good, since its not completely original, because we would be working on plots that have been written.
Monster Mash - Different Types of Monsters Holding Threads I like this idea, but I can't think of a plot yet. Monsters, as in vampires, werewolves, mummies, zombies?
Mythical Creatures - Bit Less Scary So each room is headed by a mythical creature? We could have the sphinx, and mermaids, and Plot... hm...
Horror Stories - Threads Based off Classic Thrillers I have no experience with horror stories, so you might need to be more convincing.
Constellations - Each Room Based Off a Constellation a little weak, sorry.
Seven Deadly Sins - Rooms Representing Sins Yes, I see the rooms. But I guess a plot would need to be built around it?
Holidays - Each Room Based Off a Holiday This is do-able. I see that each room could be like, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and maybe St. Patrick's Day? We could have some other international holidays thrown in as well. But we want each room attendance to be relatively close, and I see that Christmas and Halloween might garner the most attention.
Doctor Who/ Time travel Time travel would probably involve different time periods, which is something we have done in the past. Because, each room would be themed for different eras right? The doctor who theme, I wouldn't know too much on, since I've never seen the series, and assuming not every gaian has seen the show, it might be a little of a far reach for them to understand it.
Ninjas Different clans for different rooms? Feuding ninja family? Workable. Perhaps this might become a more... feudal japan kind of theme, and not just "ninja"
Theme Parks How would we separate into different rooms, I wonder? Plot might be difficult.
Carnival Very similar to theme parks, but maybe instead, the rooms would be different booths? weakish.
Comic Books And the rooms would be based off of comic book characters? Or would it be something on the lines of... different types of comic books, like manga and american, and we could section off to newspaper comic strips? Needs to be built upon, before voted on.

A Disney Themed Ball Enchanted Evenings for the Villainess of MindThe Tales:These are the main Disney Animated Features that I had in mind. They are all the Classics, basically no later than 1999 in year. ●Snow White and the Seven Dwarves-Germany ●Cinderella- “Old England ●Alice in Wonderland-“New England” ●Sleeping Beauty-Northern Austria ●The Little Mermaid-Atlantis ●Beauty and the Beast-France ●Aladdin-Arabia ●Pocahontas-Native AmericaThese are mainly used as places, and as well, plot thickeners. The plot idea is somewhere below! The Characters:These are the beings that we would need in each room. Essentially, they are the room hosts. PrincessesSnow White Cinderella Alice Aurora Arial Belle Jasmine PocahontasPrincesThe Prince Prince Charming The White Rabbit/The Mad Hatter/The Cheshire Cat Prince Philippe Prince Eric Prince Adam Aladdin Will SmithWe would need one, and/or the other to host each room. They can have different ‘Cast Members*’ join them in each room, being granted the ability to travel through the rooms by the main Mysterious Host. The Main Room!!!:This, is the biggest, and most extravagant room. All the Hosts of the other rooms start out here. This is where the main host would reside. But, we aren’t sure who is who. It is essentially a masqurede ball here in this room. The room is The Castle Grey. The actual host is one of four. Maleficent, The Old Queen, Ursula, or a non-Disney character that invited all the Disney folks out to play, The Lord/Lady Grey. The Plot:Ah-ha! The biggest wonder of them all here! In the wastes of each fairy tale lies a grey castle. This Castle, is where those whom have passed or have been forgotten come to stay. The Patron of the Castle shrouds themselves in their guests, no guest fully knowing which is a guest, and which is the ruler. When the being of the Castle Grey finds themselves bored with the commonplace guests they room, a gilded invite for a grand, and breathtaking ball is sent out to those connected by a thread to the wastes. Each invitee responds saying they will attend, and make haste to the Castle Grey.
But All is not what it seems within the Castle. Those precious guests that are the life of the castle, start fading to ghosts of their past selves, and while each world of fairy is brought closer to each other, the kind and generous rulers of the lands are growing apart. Struggle comes between the gentle Princesses, and their Princes know not what to do. And where, might they ask, are all the Villains’ of their tales? That, is the question…Its simple currently, but it is a start. Anything can be changed with it all, and if it doesn’t get used I will most likely use it as a normal Roleplay idea… >.> (*Taking a bit from the Disney Franchise in calling them Cast Members… <.<) Site for more Films: http://homepage.usask.ca/~jjs142/movielist.htm

It might be interesting to do A Midsummer Night's Dream theme, and play with the different connotations of both the story and the idea of dreams. Sweet dreams, nightmares... the actual characters from the play working out their own stories, and elaborating on those stories. I keep seeing different settings from the play as different "dreams". Each guest would fall asleep and find themselves in some common area...
And then there would be (rudimentary): The Palace The Fairy Bower The Revel The Theatre The Forest (etc, etc...)
Maybe these sweet dreams start being corrupted with nightmares, and it's up to the ball guests and hosts to figure out how to fix it. Meanwhile, Puck is skipping from room to room making mischief for the guests and the hosts.
~~~
Also, as an elaboration on the Seven Deadly Sins idea, robayn had the idea to combine it with an idea about the Seelie and Unseelie court.
The thought would be that the deadly sins would be split between the two courts, with Sloth as the main ballroom for those too "lazy" to pick one.
Seelie Pride Greed Envy
Unseelie Wrath Lust Gluttony
Music. Have you ever met someone who doesn't love at least some sort of music? Well, I never have. It could be so much fun and so simple to work out. Each room could be different genres, such as (rock, classic, hip hop, techno, etc.) The room hosts can all be famous stars of each category (like Michael Jackson in the pop room.)
The World of Dreams:
In the mist of night, the world seems to have been swallowed up by ones we see only in our dreams.
This world is the one that bears all our fantasies, nightmares, Embarrassments, Fears, and Escapes.
A group of watchful guardians keeps an eye on us as we dream, careful not to let the dreams take us into an absolute death. Some might call them guardian angels.
They, like the terrors that creep in the night were born from our dreams to protect us. Some are what we once called imaginary friends, others can be a myriad of species based on the dreams they come from.
Those of the nightmare part of the dream world don't easily get along with other dream guardians and are frequently confused as terrors which can lead to their becoming terrors.
Now for the story: As select dreamers slept peacefully, entering the world of dreams they were all called by the queen of the empress of dreams, Lenore, whom had decided to use their dreams to host a magnificent ball to which they were to be the hosts. Each night for the next few days, as they fell asleep they were to host a specific part of the ball.
When the lord of the night terrors: Marai learned of this, he called his terrors to retrieve the dreamers in order to drive the dreamers into the abyss and trap the dreamers spirits within their own dreams intending for the dreamers dreams to become the power source he needs to defeat Lenore and lock her in Nevermore: the abyss forever.
Marai was once a child's imaginary friend and guardian angel long ago one of three which included Lenore and one other who sleeps within stone: Elias, his older brother. Marai was broken-hearted when their creator, Meredith grew and could no longer see or play with them.
There are at least two guardians for each place in the dream world who were chosen to protect these dreamers. One of them would become a terror (one of the guardians who protect the fantasy dreamer) by the end.
The Dream World: (Each of the dreamers are having a kind of dream) Nightmare Manor Embarrassing Dreams (Isle of Embarrassment) Fantasies (Things people dream about that they like a lot or dream of having or doing) Hilarious (The Garden of laughter) Adventure (Held on the Pier)
Terror Grove: The doorway to the abyss (The abyss of which all dreams, fantasies and imaginary friends or guardians can go when they no longer have a purpose this will become a recycling center at the end for dreams and friends to be made new and redistributed)
The Castle of Dreams would be the main.
Each place reflects the nature of the dreams.
Meridith is one of these dreamers. She is 22 now.
Elias is hero whom the guests will eventually need to awaken to defeat Marai.
Luna Verto I've been looking at other balls and I think the key to theme is to pick one that can have a variety of varied rooms. As the ball has evolved, we've had less and less rooms, and I think we should change that. So I think no idea that's far to specific is going to work (Harry Potter, Zelda, Shakespeare(yss I know he did lots of different works, but they all had similar settings and some were similar in plot). I'm thinking it's time we do either a musical ball, which would allow us to split rooms based on genres and write crazy plots since we won't have to stick to any base, a multiple move ball (rooms based on several different common movie settings) or famed works. For famed works, we'd have like a bar/lobby for the main room, an amazing architecture room, a music room, an art gallery room, a library, a history museum, a theater room, a gym, a food room, and a technology room. --The architecture room would be celebrating famous buildings and kind of human accomplishment with making our world around us. We can set it in kind of a made up place with lots of famous architecture in it, but with plenty of room for guests to build for themselves.
--The music room would be in a nightclub-like setting where there was constant music playing loudly with a checkered dance floor and side rooms that have quieter/different music playing for people who don't like the night club scene as much.
--The art gallery would be a new aged gallery full of catering and famous works of visual art.
--The library is a very nice library full of all sorts of books with several large common areas for guests to enjoy them in.
--The history museum would be a history museum, I'm thinking very much like the Smithsonian.
--The theater room would be set on a red carpet leading into a luxurious movie theater.
--The gym room would be to celebrate physical exploits, ability, and achievement. It would be set in a very nice fitness center.
--The food room would celebrate cuisine with gourmet food being offered in a huge kitchen guests can go hang out in.
--The technology room would celebrate how much we've done in the way of like computer sciences and stuff. Set in a very computerized room.Sorry if it's a lot of text, had to type this out before I forgot about the idea of it. It'd be like a ball to celebrate achievements, and since a few of the room themes in it (gym, architecture, art, food, library, history (been used)) are too small to make an entire ball theme, this way we can experiment with them! It doesn't mean we can't do a music or multiple movie themed ball in the future, not one bit.
I've had a musical bug up my butt so I'm going to throw in a Phantom of the Opera-styled ball. Each room can be a different part of the Opera House with problems started by our Phantom (Main or Co-host) for everyone to sort out.
COLOR MY MONOCHROME WORLD!
picture a dreary future. a corrupted world where everything is black and white. a future drained of color. the monochrome future.
the people who live in this future live under the command of father. they do not know what emotion or feelings are. they do not know what color is. all they know is father and his rules. the people wake up each morning to work whatever job the committee had assigned them when the graduated from thirdschool. but in this dull, sadistic world, one person dares to be defiant
it all starts out when one person (the host) was going home from work. she had managed to find a few minutes extra for herself, so she ended up wandering around, when shee saw something weird. it was no bigger than her hand, with two big, flat arms that had no hands, a big pointy nose and its mouth was on the pointy nose. what was this thing? was it some new defense weapon father had ordered? it didnt look like it. she reached out to grab it, when it started to go up in the air, like the peacekeeper planes. but this thing flapped its big fat arms, and it didnt look like it had an engine. she followed it, with this strange sensation flowing through her (curiosity). she followed it up until it landed on another strange thing. it had stiff, skinny arms, a fat,stiff body, and pointy round hair coming out of the arms, but no face. but that wasn't what awed her, for under the big strange thing was a box, and inside the box were these things that resembled writing sticks. but these writing sticks were weird. they were bright, and they each looked different. she looked at what was written under the writing sticks. it said "color". what were these "color"?. she picked one up, and used it like any other writing stick and scribbled on the box. the box then got the brightness of the "color". this concept of "color" both amazed and confused her, and she looked at what was written on each "color". there was one that was named "red" and one that was named "green". there were about 6 of the "color". she had to go show her friend (co-host) these "color".
somewhere, fathers cameras caught the discovery of "color". on video. "this is bad. i must consult the grandfathers about this" he said. he turned on a big monter, where 5 elders where joined around a table. "grandfathers" he stated "it looks like somebody has found the color. we cannot allow this person to tell anybody about the color, or they will become defiant. we must eliminate the color!" father said. the grandfathers only uttered four words: "call in the siblings..." and with that, the screen turned off.
from there the plot goes on...
we will have rooms made after the colors. there will be six rooms- red, yellow, blue, purple, black, and green. each room will have a different mood (example: blue=calm) and will be hosted by people of the color of the room. guests can help color in the monochrome world and join the resistance against father. every now and then we can have somebody roleplay as one of the siblings (big brother, big sister, little brother, little sister) and invade one of the rooms, having the members of the resistance fight them until the sibling leaves. the sibling will droop "loot" which could eigther be gold or a prize. each room will have different types of "loot" that can only be found in that room. to win the loot, guests will use the random number tool and try to get a number that the host of the room chooses. loot can also be won in contests like art and poetry.
i havent figured the rest out yet, im still working on the plot and such sweatdrop
