The sun felt wonderful.Icarus dozed lazily under the afternoon sun, back pressed against the lush growth of a manicured lawn not far away from the central square of a small town. In front of him was a bench that partially shaded him, creating a comfortable balance between the heat cast from above and the cool of the shadow. Beyond the bench was a cobblestone road where people walked and carts of different types passed, bustling in and out of the town square to buy, sell, haggle, or otherwise make business. Even further were more houses and shops of the permanent variety, many seeing a constant flow of customers. The same sort of houses were behind him, up a slight slope and receiving the same sorts of crowds.
Icarus didn't mind the noise and bustle of the crowd that much. He'd been travelling and had already drifted through town, seeing the shops and sights he'd cared to see. He was simply tired and the spot behind the bench was as good as any. He only wished he had a bit more money to purchase a drink and maybe a snack. He'd run out in the last town again and he needed to find a bit more work while he stayed here. For now though, relaxing was the best.
Shutting his eyes once more, Icarus dozed until he felt a shadow block out his light. Possibly a cloud passing over, blocking out his warmth momentarily. It persisted though, lasting longer than the other clouds that had been passing. It definately blocked out more warmth as well, chilling him fairly quickly. Cracking open his eyes, he noticed someone was sitting in the bench, blocking out the light. “mmmm,” he started, “That sun was so nice.”
