Why Do You Want to Learn about Japanese Langauge and Culture?
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2006 1:00 pm

Personally, I want to learn about them because I am interested in learning about Asian languages and cultures (because I love learning about the world's people). I have a special interest in Japan. Also, I want to learn because I am half Asian.

Because I'm interested in learning different cultures and styles. Japan particularly interests me because of the J-rockers, beautyful costuming, ect.

It's not just Japan, I'm trying to look up into France, because I'm French, but obviously can't get access to much information since I live across the ocean.

To trace back down to what really got me interested, Mana.

It seems like a culture that I'd be interested in learning about. I'd love to learn a foreign language, and my friends sister lived in Japan for a while. She says I'd like it, and yeah. I plan on going there for a few years at some stage, knowing the langauge would be handy. Also, it sounds beautiful when I listen to it.
I watch a lot of Japanese films when I can, and it would be nice to know the exact thing they say instead of relying on the subs, or worse, the dubs. :S

ever since i was 4 or 5 years old and my dad came home from his japanese tour with much japanese merchendise, ive wanted to go to japan. i think it would be good to know a bit about the culture and at least be a decent japanese speaker if ever i get the chance to go to japan. and yes, i will be going some day! it has been a goal of mine for more than half my life...

Well, I've always had an interest in Japanese culture, mainly because it;s so intriguing. And I'd like to learn the language so I can translate songs, and speak it with my friends who know/are Japanese. ^^

I wouldn't say that I became interested in Japanese BECAUSE of Mana/other J-rockers. But because of them, it became more of a passion than an interest. heart

I've had a dream for many years now of learning as many languages as I possibly can throughout my life. I enjoy messing with people (obviously) and learning the languages and cultures would ensure that I can always mess with the people around me no matter where I am. ^^

....it would also be rather useful to actually know what the songs I listen to are about. neutral

My Yellow friend recently bought me a Japanese/English dictionary. They're pretty useful when it comes to translating simple things, but you really need an understanding of GRAMMAR RULES [D:] to use it well.

There's another reason I wanna learn. ^_^

well, ever since playing my first japanese videogame I have wanted to learn how to speak and read it....also I would like to walk into a sushi bar and not go "DERR..." at the menu. =l

Also, it has been a recent dream of mine to go live in Japan...partially because I want to escape my family. ninja

I have a huge intrest in Japanese culture, and later this year I am going on a trip there for a month, which should be amazing!

I love Japanese culture, and the music really inspires me. Saddley, I know nothing at all about the Japanese language currently, but I would love to learn.

I personally like the language to better my self as a writer.... there is so many expressions in the world.... it is almost being a failure ( as a writer ) to settle for 1 language.... well to be any one who expresses ones self through language..... wich isn't a good way to begin with..... why don't we just develop telepathy already? stare

I like the culture for the fact.... they have different motives then the unite states.... I think I would like to take out the good parts of one culture.. and then the good points of another one and more to try to make my own to live by >.O... .... as a person to live according these things.. or with this in mind~ for life and how to live... and in the social part..... because... I notice..... japanese are most polite and a bit more formal in ways, I think :/..... they better express themselves then americans.... because americans are a bit lazy in that area...
americans have a different thoughts of conservation of land then the japanese... but lack the initiate of the japanese...
japanese have kept some of their traditions~ and over all have better preservation then americans...
some times amercians are alittle bit looser then the japanese... wich can be either good or bad :/....
americans tend to have a more modest approach to appearances then the japanese..... which is probably a bad thing... for how many times have you seen a person who has been terrorized by their akwardness >.O?...
.. any way~ I am rammbling... but made the point..... fin~

There are many reasons why I want to learn japanese, but the most prominent of those would be because of the beauty of the language, and to understand the songs that I'm listening to.
And honestly, it would just be plain fun to scare the crap out of people by randomly going into japanese. (Teachers are fun to creep out. twisted ) xd
