I was told a million times of all the people in my way As far as the RP is concerned, who or what inspired you to design the character the way you did? There any current characters in media or books that inspired the way your character is? For me, a lot of inspiration came from action movie stars from the 80's and 90's. Blue collar guys in situations that they're in over their head in. Die hard, They Live, Army of Darkness, they helped inspire the more heroic side of Ash. It's why he gets into situations like getting shot in the a**, dragged by a moving car and beaten with blunt objects. Because he was a man of the people, I felt it necessary to give him a charismatic side. No matter what kind of crap is hitting the fan, he's always making jokes or helping people cope with the dire situation. Next, as far as trouble he's gotten into, it seemed appropriate that he'd know how to handle himself. I wanted to give him a fighting style so he uses a mix between karate, kung fu, street fighting and some wrestling moves. What he didn't learn from his teacher he earned from watching TV. I made him a gun fighter not just because of the action movie inspiration, but because I grew up around fire arms and shooting, and western movies. Lastly, I wanted him to have a cool profession. I made him a musician, much like myself, but I also made him a private investigator. I watch a lot of crime dramas, detective shows, and I read a lot of murder mysteries so making him a gumshoe came naturally. If I would have to give him a voice, it would be something like this: Cole McGrath of InfamousI like the semi quiet raspy voice he has and it would definately be the one Ash would have. how I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day

That is exactly how I imagined Ash's voice. What does he sound like when he sings, if you could pick an artist?

Black's insanity came from the Joker from The New Batman Adventures series. I loved the Joker as a character and villain. To be honest, I didn't really think about it until now. Joker is an inspirational villain! =O Great, now every time I hear Black laugh I'm gonna hear Mark Hamill's Joker laugh.
The whole Witch of Ra thing, I blame a friend of mine for starting it. I already liked the Egyptian gods. She made a crack comic about sacrificing someone to Ra for a box of midol. It stuck.
The love for explosives. Mostly 'Sposion Man. It's an indie game on xbox. All you do is jump and explode. More fun is added when you have more people. Lots of colorful explosions!
My love for AOE damage is the bridge between explosives and magic. I don't know why but I'm guess it's because I like to kill a lot of enemies really fast in an RTS. I lose less units if I have a small group of units that does AOE. Son of Osiris chain lightning FTW.
I stuck Black as a magic user/genetic splicer because I ALWAYS change avatars. One minute I'm a pirate and the next I'm a mermaid butler person or something weird like that. . . I figured she'd go nuts after the first number of times. Then I found out that chemicals turned Joker a nut case too. Go figure.
The jinx/curse bit on Black came from OOC sessions with my old RP partners. We ALWAYS jinxed ourselves whether in the actual RP or the OOC. Black just evoked most of it. I placed it on Black here to make her a lot less powerful. It backfired in the OOCs, might as well in a avatar RP too.

Now I have to go and try and explain PQ. It's hard to find a voice for her that I like. xP

Interesting topic! I can't wait to see others' responses. The core of things for me? I love a man in uniform. xd It's more than just that, I guess, but I do like military stylings a lot, and I play a lot of soldier characters because of it. I just think it's interesting to go into why people fight for what they fight for, be it the cash, the prestige, the honor or their own agendas. It's why I'm currently playing three characters with three completely different perspectives, however similar they might seem on the surface... just like how every soldier is a different man despite uniform that keeps them all looking like the same old grunt. Specifics? Hayley/Kilo:I forget that some of you don't necessarily know what old Hayley was like. Here's a picture! The scars? I like characters with visible imperfection. It's always been how I played things. Her dead eye was just a manifestation of that. The placement of her scars honestly comes straight from a fangirly crush on Mr. Jack Krauser from the Resident Evil series, haha. Her personality comes from so many places.... myself, strict military discipline in general.... she's just an amalgamation of things. The biggest thing I wanted when I created her was to have a strong female that was crude, harshly rational, and didn't have looks to use as a tool. She's bulky, to the point that most men would be put off by it, and her face is a wreck. There are burly male characters like this in almost every story, but the female heroes are always gorgeous amazons with strategically placed sexy scars at most. She not pretty, and she's not graceful, and she'll never be good in real life social situations. I just thought it was an interesting build. Victor:I wanted a character for Kilo to resonate off of. A lot of him is borrowed from Victor Black, a character I love in a comic I love even more (and also happens to fit with the military verbal alphabet naming scheme). Both Victors are Mexican-American (or the Gaian equivalent of that, I guess), and both are corporate mercenaries only because they lost sight of the good fight due to constant put downs in their past. They're different in a lot of ways, most notably being the comic's Victor being older and a much better leader. Other than that, a lot of Victor came from Kilo, honestly, whether it was something they share or something they strategically contrast in. He's there to be a support character for her, although as we keep going, he's becoming more and more his own thing. xd The Major:Ha. The Major comes from just about every story that involves a corrupt, proud, arrogant hard-a** old CO. He's a stereotype through and through, and I make no claims to defend that. There weren't any particular sources in mind on that front. He just flowed out as things kept moving. A good example would probably be the General in Avatar, though.

I've been waiting for an excuse to over explain King! Whee!
King's personality is a mixture of my own, the goofy characters I tend to write, and Commander Vimes from the Discworld series. The Vimes bit comes in where King is, by all fairness, Lawful Good. However, like an decently done Lawful Good characters, it doesn't mean he has to be NICE. He just won't Jack Bauer you. My personality comes in in how he gets easily frazzled, but tries (poorly) to hide it. His slight goofiness also comes from the same source.
As for the avi portion: He's an Elf because I like elves. The animals come from the fact I like animals. And most things can be passed off as either things I wish I had, and vague-ly 1920-ish items. The Brown Coat of MAGIC is an excuse to have a Firefly reference on all the time. Same with the pink glasses he now occasionally sports. His understated outfits are because neither he nor I can afford for him to dress outlandishly, so street clothes it is. The tail is because I wanted a tail. I never actually intended it to be a major character trait as much as a detail. King has always been and Elf over a WereCoon in my mind. The blue hair is a dye job. It's naturally brown, but he dies it blue because a) He likes the color. b) He thinks it makes him look more elvish. c) That's the color of Sam's hair.
MAGIC is a Gaian knock off of an organization I invented for use in comics and stories (MANA). There are a few key shifts though. MANA is more MIB like, and keeps myhtical beings under wrap. MAGIC is more FBI and they monitor it.

PQ has been a mixture of a lot of things in my life that I like and strive to be. She was raised by high-class parents but became a deviant. I love people who break away from the expectations other people have of them; it's a trait that I admire. Equally as much, I like people who have the strength of will to turn their own lives around. Which is what happened when PQ got herself out of gang-life.
I love robots. LOVE them. This is what drew me to Aekea in the first place. And PQ wasn't always a cyborg (Gera knows this first hand), but she became one eventually. I had always loved the TV face, and once I found the head combo I haven't taken it off. xD Having a character without a face is a challenge that I take with a giddy joy. She has to project her emotions differently. The eternal debate as to where does a human become robotic is always a great one and I love a character who plays off that.
PQ's involvement with the politics is due to the fact that I love having a character that will stand up for what they care about. That has a passion for something so strongly that they dedicate their lives to it. I am in full support of equal rights movements and wanted PQ involved in one too.
Her style of dress, being most androgynous business wear, is because I love androgynous women. They are so attractive and....well, yeah. Retrostacja goes along with my love for dogs and robots combined!
She plays the piano and sings because those are two things I have always wanted to do. Her jazz influences are because I love jazz. xD
PQ started as a character to reflect me but ended up doing her own things. Her voice is like Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago, with a static undertone. Her singing voice is Fiona Apple to the T.

-pops in- Even though you don't see him much, I have a little bit of how Charlie was made. V: Originally he was based off of a character I had created a long time ago, being a quirky paranormal investigator. (With a particular hatred towards vampires.) On Gaia though, even as the basis of my username, he was a characterless dress up doll, always a manlyman though once I changed out of the female base for a cosplay, until the release of the item r3tr0 b0t. Then, I fell in love with it, and made this avatar, along with a doodle of it as a character, which I won't show due to suckage. xD So, dis was my avatar. Originally he was older, and a hardened war veteran who gave everything in the line of duty. Then came an eyes update, and I finally traded in Chuchip's Blessing for chuu eyes because they were freaking cute, and I am a girl. So, with that, I evolved Charlie into a younger, more badass guy, until I realized that I am the farthest thing from a badass. Then he became a little more relateable to me; an average-joe type guy with the occasional habit of kicking a**. Whoo!

This list can only get better XD I'm curious to see what Hayley's voice would be. I would think it would be kinda deep and throaty like Kat Von D from LA ink... how I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day

Ash Badguy Faust I was told a million times of all the people in my way if your guys characters had a voice actor, who would they sound like? how I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day Augh, tough one. Especially for Kilo. She's a girl, but she speaks with a bit of the same stifled growly tone tone that someone like Solid Snake or Krauser would have. Her voice is clear in my head, but it's not something I would have an example of. Victor straight up sounds like Chris Redfield to me. The Major has always spoken through his gas mask in my head, so I suppose he sounds a lot like the Combine from HL2, which were obviously also an inspiration for the Regulators. Which reminds me, I totally forgot about what sparked the current Kilo situation in my head! Barney Calhoun (he starts a little after 3 minutes in) from the Half Life series is a friendly guard at Black Mesa turned undercover Combine unit, helping his friends even though he acts harsh in the public eye. He was kind of a launching point for me.
