Name : Alasdair Appearance : An average-sized child with a somewhat pale complexion and a shoulder-length head of soft, silvery hair. Born with one damaged eye, he sports an eye-patch constantly, as otherwise he feels somewhat off-kilter and exposed. The other, good eye, is mocha in color, and usually friendly despite his quiet demeanor. As of now, he tends to dress in comfortable, but stylish clothes that allow him freedom of movement, courtesy of Eldrick. Personality: Alasdair is a quiet child, an observer, one of those people that sets others on edge because you feel as though he is constantly gleaning information simply by resting his eyes on you. In a crowd, or even amidst friends, he will not feel ill at ease, simply choose to hold his tongue unless he has something of import to contribute to the conversation. Serious, but friendly, even at a young age he possesses an air of nobility about him that catches the eye and draws in the onlooker. Preferring to demonstrate things with actions or a touch, tackling problems and fears with a head-on approach. He will, mind, drop aloof posture towards those he is fond of, those he loves...friends perhaps astonished to find that the silvery-haired Hraapea is a secret cuddler in private.
Intelligent and industrious, whilst he need not always be doing something, Alasdair would prefer to keep his mind busy, treading into the realm of thought at times with no heed as to the world around him. A careful dresser as well, he enjoys keeping things neat and tidy about him and on his person. The child is also something of a collector, keeping rocks and other small objects, ne'er seeing the sense in tossing something out when he has a perfectly good method of organization to keep track of it all. Often, he'll bestow his 'favorite' collector's items on friends and loved ones, his most expressive tokens of affection. Likes: Coming, coming... Dislikes: ....we don't know yet

Name: Eldrick Lawrence Age : 32 Appearance : Quite a tall, strikingly handsome man, standing nearly six foot three, Eldrick sports a pair of silvery-grey eyes and a lean, swimmer's build. Cursed with a length of unruly hair, he chooses to keep it up in dreadlocks so that he doesn't have to deal with it overmuch. Dark-skinned, he has little issue with the sun, and to further his own ease, his clothing choices are usually comfortable and casual, as pleasing to the eye as he can make them without planning an entire wardrobe for the week. Personality: A fairly confident individual, he strives hard to make pleasing impressions on the people that he encounters. Whilst perhaps a little abrupt at times and seemingly abrasive to strangers, he warms on further acquaintance. Protective, he'll look after those he sees as his responsibility, or simply weaker, without a second thought. Though possessing a touch of ego and the natural selfish tendencies of humankind, one can decipher the depth of his affections by how far he's willing to put himself out for that person. Energy-filled and cheerful, Eldrick likes to keep a certain facet of excitement in his life. As a teacher, he's surprisingly no-nonsense. Unsatisfied unless he's knowledgeable about his subjects, his specialty is, of course, history. He spends a copious amount of time in research and preparing for lessons, desirous of teaching to the best of his abilities.
Taking a certain delight in the discovery of new information, he won't hesitate to personally go and investigate a new find in his field, especially if there is any promise of significance. A demonstrative person, he likes to take things into his own hands, and would rather show his affection with a hug and enthusiastic words than in gifts. A loyal and devoted man, Eldrick is well worth the slight buffeting it takes to become his friend. Likes: Doodling, Dancing, Swimming, Reading, Jogging, Journaling, History Dislikes: Unwarranted cruelty of those considered defenseless, duplicity, flaunted irresponsibility History: Born and bred in the city of Aerr to a single mother, Eldrick was blessed with immediate access to grand education and all the finer things that the world of Levintol had to offer. While aware that his mother did not necessarily come from this place, she would never speak of it, and so the boy always let the matter rest. Taking to his studies with a grand amount of enthusiasm, between his success and his brazen attitude, he made both many friends as he grew up, and of course, the unavoidable enemies. Acquiring those credentials needed to teach, as history rather intrigued him, he was a grand success in his profession (as much as any teacher can be). However, he was not contented with this comfortable lifestyle, and desirous of a far more 'living' view of history, he packed his bags, boarded the train, and took to a life of traveling. Making his living here and there as a tutor, he spends his time drifting from one place to the next, studying the history and formation of the places within Levintol. And though his doting mother sends him money now and then (whenever he's at a location long enough to write), she also continuously implores him to return. In truth, as exciting as he finds a life of adventure, what he currently needs is something of an excuse to settle down. Perhaps those grandchildren his mother keeps nagging on about?

Gyrfalcon:
The gyrfalcon or Falco rusticolus, also spelled gerfalcon, is the largest of all falcon species. The Gyrfalcon breeds on Arctic coasts and islands of North America, Europe and Asia. It is mainly resident, but some Gyrfalcons disperse more widely after the breeding season, or in winter.
The bird's common name comes from French gerfaucon, and in mediaeval Latin is rendered as gyrofalco. The first part of the word may come from Old High German gîr (cf. modern German Geier), "vulture", referring to its size compared to other falcons, or the Latin gȳrus ("circle", "curved path") from the species' circling as it searches for prey, unlike the other falcons in its range. The male gyrfalcon is called a gyrkin in falconry.
Its scientific name is composed of the Latin terms for a falcon, Falco, and for someone who lives in the countryside, rusticolus.
Description:

This species is a very large falcon, about the same size as the largest buteos.
Males are 48 to 61 cm (19 to 24 in) long, weigh 805 to 1350 g (1.8 to 3 lbs) and have a wingspan from 110 to 130 cm (43 to 51 in).
Females are rather bulkier and larger at 51 to 65 cm (20 to 26 in) long, a weight of 1180 to 2100 g (2.6 to 4.6 lbs) and have a wingspan ranging from 124 to 160 cm (49 to 64 in).
In dimensions, gyrfalcons lie between a large Peregrine Falcon and a hawk in general structure; they are unmistakably falcons with pointed wings, but are stockier, broader-winged, and longer-tailed than the Peregrine.
Plumage is very variable in this highly polymorphic species: the archetypal morphs are called "white", "silver", "brown" and "black" though coloration spans a continuous spectrum from nearly all-white birds to very dark ones. The brown form of the Gyrfalcon is distinguished from the Peregrine by the cream streaking on the nape and crown and by the absence of a well-defined (cheek) stripe and cap. The black morph has its underside strongly spotted black, not finely barred as in the Peregrine. White form Gyrfalcons are unmistakable, as they are the only predominantly white falcons. Silver birds resemble a light, grey Lanner Falcon of huge size.
There is no difference in colouring between between males and females; juveniles are darker and browner than corresponding adults on average.
Systematics and Evolution:
The Gyrfalcon is a member of the close-knit hierofalcon complex.
In this group, there is ample evidence for rampant hybridization and incomplete lineage sorting which confounds analyses of DNA sequence data to a massive extent; molecular studies with small sample sizes can simply not be expected to yield reliable conclusions in the entire hierofalcon group.
The radiation of the entire living diversity of hierofalcons seems to have taken place in the Eemian Stage at the start of the Late Pleistocene, a mere 130,000-115,000 years ago; the Gyrfalcon seems to represents lineages that expanded into the Holarctic and adapted to local conditions, whereas the inland populations further south, towards northeastern Africa where the radiation probably originated, evolved into the Saker Falcon.
Indeed, gyrfalcons hybridize not infrequently with Sakers in the Altay Mountains, and this gene flow seems to be the origin of the "Altai Falcon".
Ecology:
The Gyrfalcon is a bird of tundra and mountains, with cliffs or a few patches of trees. It feeds only on birds and mammals. Like other hierofalcons, it usually hunts in a horizontal pursuit, rather than the Peregrine's speedy stoop from a height. Most prey is killed on the ground, whether they are captured there or, if the victim is a flying bird, forced to the ground. The diet is to some extent opportunistic, but a majority of breeding birds mostly rely on Lagopus grouse. Avian prey can range in size from redpolls to geese and can include gulls, corvids, smaller passerines, waders and other raptors (up to the size of Buteos). Mammalian prey can range in size from shrews to marmots (sometimes 3 times heavier than the assaulting falcon), and often includes include lemmings, voles, ground squirrels and hares. They only rarely eat carrion.
