Sprawled out in the middle of the park, Aphrodite ignored the inquiring looks that various strangers shot her as they walked past the idling woman. Decked in her flowing pink dress, it was sure to catch the attention of others—for better or worse was a question still left unanswered. Feigning sleep, she impatiently huffed and rolled onto her side. Things had quieted down somewhat, now where was the fun in that? Deep purple eyes peering out from her draping blond hair, she observed the children and adults that frolicked through the park. It would be nice if one of them happened to be someone that could be awakened. Someone that coincidentally possessed a beacon that she could play with. That would be very nice indeed.
A flash of brightly colored hair and Aphrodite curiously peered further, nimble fingers brushing away messy strands of hair to clear her view. Interest piqued by the shock of red, she broke out into a pleased beam when she saw the boy’s twinkling ring. Slinking to her feet, she strode towards the lad. Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms and his shoulders and whispered into his ears, “I could be the villain to your story.” Before he could make any large movements, she uncoiled from him and mischievously grinned. “But don’t you want to have power? To spice up your life a bit?”

He was...so relieved to be going home. Work had been tiring, and he was still more then a little stunned at the amount of labor working in a hobby shop demanded. His back and shoulders were tense, his leg's burned from all the up and down lifting...Naois was going to be so very very happy when he got a chance to lay down. Naois was already imagining a dinner of pan fried chicken with broccoli and cheese soup. Maybe a small cup of vanilla pudding to go with it. It would be a very nice dinner before he went to sleep.
A pair of arms wrapped around him suddenly, and Naois came to a dead halt. His blue eyes widened a bit as he heard that pretty voice whispering into his ear. Turning his head a little, he found himself a little overwhelmed by the beauty of the woman before him. "What?" He asked in a dazed sort of confusion. Power? What about it? Spice up his life? "I...suppose I would but...do..I know you?" Naois stumbled to speak properly as he ran his fingers through his hair. No..no..this was another person he was positive he'd never forget knowing. She was just far too pretty!

She giggled. Oh yes, most of the people that possessed beacons seemed to react as unsure and startled as this boy. No matter how many times it happened, the blond just couldn’t get enough of it. Well, Aphrodite admitted that it just couldn’t be helped. Was it everyday that someone as beautiful as herself came waltzing up to them, offering power and abilities beyond one’s imagination? Disregarding the fact that they were also charged with the task of obliterating chompahs, but who didn’t find joy in killing those fluffy little buggers? Right? Right?
“Oh no, you don’t know me. Actually, I haven’t even had the chance to figure out your name!” Aphrodite answered in a bubbly reply. Without so much as warning him, she reached out to grab his wrist and drag him out of the park. Now, it wouldn’t do any good to obtain his powers without testing it out on a chompah! “Now I wonder where I can find one of those pesky little creatures,” she muttered, curiously searching around the place for any sign of a furry ball of evil and giant teeth.
“Well, while I’m looking, let me give you the lowdown! You need to look inside yourself. Like, really deep, okay? The power and words that you need are already inside you. All that’s needed is a little concentration and will power!”

"Then...why..?" Naois started to ask the pretty woman why she had just come up out of nowhere to grasp him. His question was placed on hold however as Aphrodite reached out and grasped his wrist. He found himself pulled along by her insistent nature. Naois' blue eyes just...blinked at her. "Shouldn't you ask my name then before we go...ah..anywhere?" He questioned her as he followed along. This was so awkward! Naois' confusion only grew more as Aphrodite spoke as though he might possibly be able to follow her conversation.
"Are you looking for something in particular? Did you...did you lose something?" Or someone? Maybe she was 'confused' like some people could be. Naois confused expression softened a little. That had to be it...She had to be one of those individuals who were not exactly whole in the head. With this realization Naois felt his uneasy awkwardness melt away. She clearly was disassociated with reality. She talked like..well..one of those people at the start of a cartoon series. Someone setting up the theme for the heros who were going to be the focal point of the show. Naois' lips spread faintly and he nodded his head.
"Of course. That is very nice of you to share with me miss. Tell me more about this power. Are you here with someone?" He spoke gently while casting his sight around. Someone dressed as this girl clearly would stand out. Whoever her keeper was had to be looking for her. He merely needed to find them. Now that he knew what was wrong with her, he couldn't possibly leave her alone. She could get hurt or lost and then..well..it would not be right to leave someone in a bad situation.

She nonchalantly shrugged. “I don’t think it’s very important if I get your name! But if you really insist, you can give me your name. So just call me Aphrodite instead, okay?” replied the blond as she idly nodded her head from side to side.
Chuckling at the boy’s behavior, Aphrodite shook her head. “I didn’t lose something. And I suppose you could say I’m looking for something, but I’m looking for it so I can give something to you. Well, I suppose it isn’t quite necessary, but it’ll help you a lot,” she answered, her voice trailing off as she began to mumble and ramble to herself. Then her guts told her to take a sharp turn out of the park and into the town streets. Following her instincts, Aphrodite continued to pull along Naois.
His manner of speaking was beginning to irk her. “You know I’m not mentally ill, right? You’ll figure it out soon enough, anyways,” she pointed out. The duo continued to wander around the streets, passing by shopping displays.
A pair of obnoxiously-colored mannequins caught her eye, immediately gluing the blond in front of the shop window. Flashes of suspicious movement flickered at the edge of her vision. Her face blank, she forcefully tugged him into the boutique. “We’re going here.” Hearing the usual startled scream, Aphrodite grinned and tightened her grip on Naois. “Don’t run away now, okay?” There was glee in her voice.

Naois did not fee uneasy anymore, and he trotted along with Aphrodite. While she searched for her imaginary thing, he searched for someone who looked like they were searching for someone lost. When the girl gave him her name, it seemed to clench it in his mind that there was something sadly wrong with her. Poor thing... She was so pretty and young looking. To be so lost, it had to be horrible on her friends and family.
When Aphrodite admonished him for where his thoughts had trailed, Naois could only manage to half smile at her. He did not believe her. Just because she could pick up on what he was thinking...well...she could have had just enough clarity to see and understand a little bit right?
Naois found himself being dragged along into what seemed to be a girls preferred place of shopping. His face colored slightly, until he heard the startled scream. "What...what was that?" He asked as he leaned back against Aphrodite's grip. She sounded so excited! What had startled that other person?

For the record, Aphrodite was perfectly sane. The problem was that people seemed to have a difficult time comprehending her obscure and illogical statements. Really, what was up with that? Hmph.
Noticing that he leaned against her, she glanced at him and grinned eagerly. A mischievous twinkle in her eyes, she happily tugged him towards the entrance. “Wouldn’t you like to know? You’ll never find out if you don’t investigate!” Even if Naois protested against going inside, going towards the supposed danger –and in her opinion, chompahs weren’t that dangerous, right?—her sudden strength and sharp nails digging into his wrist would have convinced him otherwise.
Her back against the glass door, she pushed it open while dragging the poor lad inside, giggling the entire time. “I’ll try to make this quick. There’s something you need to get rid of for me, okay? But first you’ll need to find the words and power inside yourself to get rid of the thing, okay? Okay!” Aphrodite vaguely explained, gesturing for Naois to head towards the moving pile of clothes on the far side of the shop.
Once he got closer, he could undeniably hear low growling.

This was odd. Something was simply not normal about this. Naois was pulled along by Aphrodite, if his sense of responsibility had not provoked him to continue on with her, then the sharp bite of her nails surely would. "It...sounds like someone was scared. Shouldn't we find a cop or something?" He asked the girl uneasily. She was still talking so strangely. Naois shook his head slightly, then blinked as they approached a pile of cloths.
"I do not quiet understand." Naois found his voice strangely soft as he watched the moving pile of cloths. That...that had to be someones pet cat...or dog. But what was that growling.
"Miss....I do not think you should go closer to that." No matter how uneasy he felt, Naois did not want this strange girl to get closer to something he was certain was going to hurt her. He reached his free hand up to place on Aphrodite's shoulder and gently pulled back. "Please. It doesn't sound safe. It might try to bite you." Words and power? The only power that Naois could possibly believe he had in the way of power, was the power to act. He wondered..the boutique looked sort of fancy. Was this perhaps her shop? And the animal had climbed in? Ah! That would make some sense right? Naois' worked his mind in an desperate attempt to make common sense of this situation.
"I'll take care of the animal, just please back away?" He asked her again with a faint assuring smile.

She gleefully shook her head as she dragged Naois deeper into the store. “Cops are so useless these days. They’ll never be able to take care of a dangerous cutie like this!” Aphrodite chirped, apparently oblivious to the danger she was putting the pair into. “What do you not understand, hun? The situation is pretty straight forward to me, but that’s probably because I know what we’re up against. Haha!” Excitedly laughing, she urged him closer to the pile of clothes.
As he gently urged her to step away from the creature while he took care of it, Aphrodite blankly blinked at him before laughing a second time. Eyes closed as she rested a fisted hand against her forehead, she shook her head and waved him away with her other hand. “Sure, sure kid! Do whatever you want. I was planning on letting you take care of this thing anyways. I don’t exactly have the ability to do it all by myself.” Then she opened her eyes, devilishly grinning at him. “But if you need any help whatsoever, just holler. Okay?”
A pair of wide google-eyed eyes stared out from underneath a pastel pink shirt. It curiously blinked at Naois for a few seconds, remaining silent before hopping out of the pile to reveal its fluffy self, shaking and growling before threateningly revealing white, sharp teeth at the lad.

Whatever it was that Naois had been thinking...whatever he had been about to say to Aphrodite...it was all lost the moment he looked into those big googly eyes. His head just..sort of ached. Naois' hands fell limp at his sides and he stared down at the creature. He wanted to rub at his eyes but he did not dare take his eyes off the beast. When it finally growled and bared it's teeth at him, Naois was finally able to snap out of his stunned state.
"This..." Naois started to say, then took a step back. Those teeth looked like they could do some serious damage! The common sense of Naois' mind told him to back away slowly and to get himself out of the shop. However, as he glanced around the shop he thought about that scream from earlier. Someone was possibly trapped in here...frightened by this odd beast. Naois fisted one of his hands and shifted one foot back as he eyed the creature.
"Well...you did say there was something I needed to get rid of this thing right? What is it? How do I get it? I want to make sure no one get's hurt by this...this creature." Naois said as he glanced around him. Perhaps he needed to hit it in a specific place or something...

His incredibly baffled expression was hilarious, just too hilarious for Aphrodite to bear. Her muscles ached from the vast amounts of stretching from her large smile, but the blond woman didn’t regret it at all. This must be why she did what she did, to observe the ridiculous reactions the various “heroes” and “heroines” gave her right before their first transformation. Somehow it never ceased to amuse her. It was befuddling, but if it was fun, it was fun!
“What’s wrong, honey?” teased Aphrodite, toothily beaming as she crossed her arms and leaned forward, eyes twinkling as she noted his lack of movement. The creature was small. The creature was furry. The creature had googlely eyes. It wasn’t that terrifying, save for the shark-like teeth, but still. “Yeah, what about it?” she drawled in a manner that clearly revealed that she dealt with these odd fur balls on a daily basis if not more.
“Honey, were you listening to me at all? Look inside yourself! The thing you need is something you’ve already got. Just look for that one part of you that isn’t quite like the rest. The part that’s . . . special, ‘kay? That’s all I can really tell you, honey. The rest is up to you.”
The chompah continued to growl, its eyes narrowed as it eyed Naois with predatory eyes. It coiled, as if to preparing for a large leap at the boy. If he didn’t do something soon, it was sure to make a move.
It jumped. He would have to think fast.

For all the common sense that he possessed. Common sense that told him this was dangerous and he needed to run away, there was certainly something else in his head at the moment. Even as the pretty woman would speak so calmly to him, telling him that he knew what he needed to do already, Naois had to admit that what she said did feel right.
He tightened his left hand into a firm fist as he eyed the small unassuming creature. This wasn't like facing down a bully of course, nor a bad guy with a gun. However it felt equally important at the moment. What part about him was 'special' as the woman called it? It wasn't that he had any particular skills or keen intelligence that made him special. What was it then?
Perhaps it was just...this? The desire to do what was right, to help others. How many times had he heard and shrugged off the kind words of the nurses at the hospital? As Naois focused his determined gaze on the Chompah, he missed the small flare of light bursting to life from the opal ring on his left hand. The magic from the ring flared free in a fluttering of crimson and purple. In seconds the colored silk wrapped up and around Naois' arm and spread over his body. In his fisted hand a longbow twisted into shape. Naois was aware that something had happened.he knew that his clothing had changed and he could easily see in the corner of his eye the bow he now held. Was this it? It had to be!
There was a thrilling rush that came with the change, and Naois found himself rather excited. Of course, he was completely unaware of a few other small things that had come with the transformation. He did not note the fact he had lost a few inches of height, nor had he realized yet that his gender had been completely altered to one of a feminine body. For Naois, it was too clear that the fuzzy creature was going to do something soon. As he did not have a arrow in hand, Naois did the first thing that came to mind. He grabbed one end of the bow tightly with his other hand and swung the hard wooden weapon at the Chompah like a bat.

This was it. The time when those funny, little children came to terms with the power they housed inside of themselves. It usually took a while, at least a moment or two for the girl or boy to shake off reality and believe in magic. Occasionally, it went quickly; however, Aphrodite had to admit that the speedy transformations were not as amusing. She found pleasure in their awkward dodging and squeals as they attempted to escape the chompah rather than steady confidence as they transformed.
She was quite disappointed with the quick turn of events until she realized one thing: there was now a girl where the boy had previously been. Aphrodite gawked, dumbfounded before bursting into howling laughter. The lad had transformed into a lass! “Oh God! As fast as that was, this has got to be one of the best ones yet!” She refused to say anything else afterwards, as she diverged into another set of giggles.
The chompah never saw it coming. The bow solidly smashed into it, swinging the tiny ball a few feet away. It let out a pained screech as it skidded across the ground for a bit before coming to a final halt. For a few seconds it remained still, but eventually it twitched back to life, eyes opening and rolling back onto its feet.

Laughter rang through the air as the pretty woman seemed to explode with mirth. Naois was mildly confused at what she could have found so amusing, though he could not spare the time to question her about it. Naois' bow struck the chompah with a strangely satisfying smack. He watched the furry creature sail away and strike the wall. Was that it then? It didn't seem to be moving right away, and now he could turn to look at Aphrodite with a confused expression.
"What's so fun---" Naois lifted a hand and placed it at his throat. His voice sounded very very...off. In the motion of moving his free hand up to his throat, his arm pressed against something that should not have been there. Naois's bright toned eyes dropped down, and he issued a shrill cry.
"IIIIYAAAAAAH!? What HAPPENED!?" Naois screamed. His hand jerked away from his throat, and he held his hands slightly away from his torso. A sudden fear to touch himself, and the small chest that protruded from it, overcame him. He was even too afraid to move, or breath! They moved all on their own and were just... "I'm a GIRL!? THAT is that part of me that isn't 'like the rest'!? The HELL!?"

“I don’t know, but it’s utterly ridiculous and it’s hilariously wonderful,” Aphrodite replied with sincere honesty, wiping away a lone tear nestled in the corner of her eye. “But I commend your bravery. Not everyone seems to like fighting those furry baddies right off the bat.”
She clasped her hands together and innocently smiled. “Sorry, hun. I’m not the one that decides these things, but I must say—whoever decides these things did an excellent job of turning you into a woman.” The blond grinned as she looked Naois up and down, pleased with what she saw. Then Aphrodite sauntered over to a tree and plopped down, motioning with her arm for the boy-turned-girl to finish off the chompah. “Now, now. Turn that frown upside down and carry on!”
It almost seemed like Naois had finished off the chompah, but if someone peered closer they would realize that it slowly rose up and down as it steadily breathed. Eventually it twitched, stirring back to life. Groggily, the chompah rolled so that it was upright. It yawned, shaking its head at Naois as it angrily growled.
