Hi guys, I'm new to this guild, I joined in the hopes of finding some remedies for things that DON'T involve taking a lot of over-the-counter things.
My problem is that my boyfriend has a VERY sensitive stomach, anything too heavily spiced or greasy upsets it, and he's so skinny that I worry he doesn't eat as much as he should because of this.
However, he is also reluctant to take medicine on a regular basis, so I was hoping there was another remedy to be found.

Yeah- cut way back on greasy or spicy foods. *nods* Too much grease isn't good for you anyway- but if he insists on that extra few slices of pizza, make sure he eats something absorbant, like bread alongside it. It helps keep the grease from overwhelming his stomach. Whole foods, like grains, veggies, and fruits help your body stay balanced.
Also, look into making foods that are flavorful and delicious without using a lot of salt or butter. Olive oil is a good oil to use for cooking because it's heart-healthy, not super heavy and it doesn't cause as many digestive issues.
And if he does get heartburn or upset stomach and refuses OTC meds, then you have two options: If it was spicy food, drink milk. The milk helps counter the spice and burn that is left over. If he's allergic to milk or he's eaten a lot of grease, try some light toast, or some chamomile or mint tea.
(Milk, if taken with a lot of grease, curdles and makes you sicker. Found that out the hard way.)
Of course, none of these remedies work as fast as an over the counter (OTC) medicine can. But they are easier on the body and usually on the tastebuds, too.
