The address that Naois had given Indigo would lead her to a tall apartment building. The once white paint on the stone structure had yellowed a bit and chipped with age. But the grass was neatly tended to and a line of small bushes were regularly trimmed. The front doors of the building opened into a sort of small foyer or lobby. Small metal boxes lined one wall, where the residents could pick up their mail. Another pair of glass doors separated this room from a wide hall. This door was locked, and beside it was a small intercom box with a bunch of buzzers marked by ink written on bit's of tape. Naois apartment number was clearly marked by a red ink pen near the top of the list.
Naois had spent all his free time trying to clean up his apartment... if one could call it that. There was only one room in the apartment. The bathroom. Naois looked around worriedly. He had folded the bed back into the couch and straitened up the pillows. The small television was still partly hidden under his schoolbooks. The kitchen area had been cleaned up fairly nicely. He had managed to get all the dishes cleaned and mopped the small linoleum square that separated it from the rest of the carpeted room. Still, Naois found himself more then a little nervous about Indigo's pending arrival. He checked the clock for the fifth time in ten minutes and moved to the fridge.
"Ugh." he groaned at the empty metal racks. Bread..milk...eggs...a container of grape juice. Oh yeah...this looked real good. Well..maybe she'd be fine with milk and grape juice. How long could it take to roll up a character sheet?

Ugh. The bag was so heavy! Indigo had a backpack, which was weighing her down, and a messenger bag. She really only needed the messenger bag, but... Naois had sort of freaked her out. Mushrooms were disgusting, vial, and should not be consumed by anyone. So she had in her backpack, snacks. A 6 pack of sodas, a bag of baby carrots, some broccoli, crackers, and a couple cheese like substances. Her messenger bag had her books and dice as well as about a dozen blank character sheets.
When she walked into the apartment building, she looked around. She'd never lived in one, so this was new to her, and took her a moment to find the button to press for Naois.
"Dude, it's Indigo. Don't keep me waiting." She said into the intercom after ringing for Naois.

The buzzer sounded, and Indigo's voice came over the intercom box. His head snapped over to the box, and he moved over to the door. Pressing the buzzer he leaned in and spoke so he could be heard clearly. "Hey Indigo. Gimme a sec and the door will unlock. Just take the elevator up." He instructed her, then pressed the Door Unlock next to his buzzer button. He held it down for a few moments, then heard a faint buzz as the door unlocked to allow Indigo into the building.
Naois released the button then turned to give the apartment one last look over. Ugh...it still looked a bit shabby and worn..and cluttered...Aw crud! Naois hurried to quickly push some dirty cloths behind the couch. This is what he got for dropping his cloths by the couch before going to sleep there every night. Well. It was too late now. He'd just have to hope she wasn't put off by the tiny flat.

Indigo did as instructed, and took the elevator up to Naois's floor. Finding his number, she knocked and waited. When he opened the door and let her in, she instantly started looking about. "Wow! Studio apartment? Guess this means you live on your own then, huh? No wonder you eat mushrooms!" She shuddered. "Hey, I hope you don't mind but I brought some snacks over too. Mind if I sit here?" She asked, flopping herself down on the floor in front of the couch before he could agree or not. She slipped her bags off, setting one on each side.

Naois could not possibly exhibit how relieved he was that Indigo did not hesitate to enter the small apartment. "Yes. Yes I do." He replied as he closed the door behind her. "Mushrooms are good for you." He followed up with a faint grin. Indigo really did not seem to like them. He rather wish he'd had the foresight to pile some cans of them on the counter as a sort of joke.
"Snacks? No. Of course not. Sit where.." He glanced down at the floor, and gave a small smile of relief. Thank god he'd had the sense to vacuum today. Naois moved to sit down in front of her. His legs folded Indian style so he could rest his elbows on his knees. Leaning forwards slightly, he looked at all of the books she had carried in. "Wow. Do you really need all those books? You look like you are attending some college class!"

Indigo looked up at him as she had the books laid out. "Does it really? Huh... I guess it does." She laughed. "Man, if I could go to college for this, I would in a heart beat. Mmm, a gaming college..." She said dreamily. She remained lost in thought for a moment then smiled before opening her bag of snacks, splaying out the array of more or less healthy foods- and of course the sodas. "Hope ya don't mind stuff like this. They're good for you, and taste better then nasty mushrooms." She grinned brightly.
"ALRIGHT!" She handed him a character sheet. "These are all the things we'd have to fill out. I mean, things like name, age, gender, you don't need to roll for that. I mean, you can... It's sometimes fun to roll up a name. Oh, maybe you'd want to base it on things like class and race. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself." She picked up a book and flipped through a few pages. "This tells you about the classes, and what races can use them. Then I can show you the different races."

Naois could not help but laugh a little at the dreamy expression on Indigo's face. "Well who knows. There seems to be a crowd that's really into this gaming stuff, so it would make sense that someday they would come up with Gaming Classes. I could see you being a Professor or something. You could run a beginner class or something. You know 'Your Dice and You 101'" Naois jested lightly as he picked through a few of the snacks produced by the girl. Wow...he hadn't had access to so much junk food in years. Hesitantly he selected something and eyed the soda.
"Oh I don't mind at all. I actually feel kinda bad though since I can't offer you anything in return." He replied as he opened a can and took a sip. He accepted the character sheet and glanced over it. "So wait...do I put my own name in here or something?" He asked as he pointed to the gender and physical description. Though she answered his question in her own explanation and he nodded his head. "Uh..yeah..okay well..uhm... I'll think of a name later." He replied as he scooted over to peer over Indigo's shoulder at the classes listed. "Huh..Ranger. I like that one. The bow looks cool. I kinda like archery you know? What race would be good for a ranger?"

She laughed and waved her hand. "You don't need to offer anything. I mean, I'm kind of invading your space, right? So this is like, I'm paying rent? I donno." She shrugged. "A ranger, Well, A good all around class is a human. But they're kind of boring. They mostly physical strength." She pointed to the charts beside the races. "Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Charisma..." She pointed to each of the different abbreviations, and quickly explained what they stood for. "Since Rangers use a lot of dex... Mmm... I'd go half elf. They're great with dex and are not toally inept if they end up separated from the rest of the party, which sometimes happens in games." she thought about things a moment.
"So you like archery for real? Do you practice it? Cause that would be neat. I wonder if that's something they offer at the school, because that would be pretty awesome!" She looked at Naois with a grin. "I'd so go and watch you if you compete."

Naois merely laughed at the analogy. If Indigo were to pay rent for invading his space...he had a vague feeling his small apartment would be honestly more cluttered then it normally was. Shaking his head, he focused on the book and nodded his head. "Allright..so I'll play a half elf then I guess. Though I don't intend on getting separated from the group. I'm no super hero and I doubt this elf guy we're making will feel any differently." Naois's lips quirked upwards. The explanation that Indigo gave was descriptive enough for him to grasp the concept. "Dex it is. He'll be quick and light on his face yeah?" He spoke with a grin.
Naois glanced over at Indigo as she asked him about the archery. His eyes lit up a bit as he answered. "Yes. I enjoy the discipline and patience it requires to make a good shot. I do practice it, usually every other week. There is a indoor archery range in town you know?" Naois glanced down at the book so he could read a little ahead on how to make his character up. "I don't compete though. I'm not good enough for that. I just enjoy the sport of trying to hit the target."

She couldn't help it. All of a sudden, Indigo burst into laughter. "That... that's an amazing way to say it! Practice the discipline? You rock so hard, Naois." Her fits of giggles almost had her fall over, but her back against the couch stopped her from total collapse. "I'll have to come watch you practice some time. I didn't know there was an archery range in the city. That's pretty wicked though."
She had to take a moment to compose herself again before she could even think about helping with the character creation again. But she did settle herself, clearing her throat and running a hand through her hair. "Alright, let's roll for stats." she opened up a small plastic case that held a block of dice. She counted a couple out and set them down, then opened up a second case with other shaped dice. She checked the book again "Ok, let's start with HP! Roll this." She held out a rather shiny looking blue D20.

"I..rock?" Noais was certain he sounded as surprised as he looked and felt at the moment. He had never been told that before. Oh..he'd been told he was a nice guy, he was dependable..but never that he 'rocked'. It honestly did not seem like it was possible with his nature.Naois shook his head a little to clear it and tucked a loose strand of red hair behind his ear. "I'll be glad to show it to you sometime. It's pretty small really, and sort of set up the way you'd imagine a bowling ally is. Only, you know, for bows and arrows." He half explained while taking the D20.
Naois held it in the palm of his hand for a few moments and rolled it gently around his palm. "HP...what is that? All I keep thinking is Harry Potter" He murmured as he flipped the dice onto the carpet. He watched it roll, then pointed down at the little number face up. "Is rolling a 1 good?"

"You totally do" Indigo grinned at him "Don't look so shocked, babe." She waved it off like it was nothing and watched him roll. She stared at it, and literally fell over laughing. "Oh.. oh my... oh my god... Ah ha ha. Oh Naois, that is..." She snorted, trying to contain herself. She was laughing so hard that tears started to form at the edges of her eyes. "You rolled a 1!" She covered her mouth trying to stop the giggles.
"No." She managed to squeak. "It's not a good roll. It-" she stopped to wipe the tears from her cheeks and compose herself and sat up. "No.... It's a very bad roll. It basically means if you get touched, you're going to die."

Clearly Indigo was enjoying a bit of one sided humor at the moment. Naois watched his new friend as she dissolved into a fit of unbridled laughter. As the tears budded in her eyes, he couldn't help but smile a little himself. Anything that brought someone that much amusement could not be all that bad.
Naois reached down and plucked the die up between his fingertips so he could look accusingly at the 1 peeking up at him between his fingertips. "A touch hmmm. Well then. I guess I better make certain no one touches me. Can I play my character quick or something? It won't matter how weak I am if no one can hit me right?" He asked as he set the die down on the floor again. He picked up one of the books and rifled through a few pages. "That is..Dexterity right?"

She had calmed down, mostly. She still had to take a couple deep breaths when a giggle tried to escape her again. "Dex is how accurate you are. Some games have it as how agile you are, some have a separate 'agi' stat, for agility. But this one, Dex is your agility and accuracy." She thought a moment. "Ah, if it's confusing, forget what I just said. HERE!" she handed him 2 eight sided dice. "Roll these for dex."

"It is very confusing, but that is why you are here." Naois replied with a grin as he took the two dice from her. Holding them between his fingers he rolled them back and forth, then blinked. "I mean, your here because It's confusing. Not that your here to confuse me." With a small shake of his head Naois picked up his drink to take a sip and lightly tossed the dice onto the floor.
"This character making must take a while to get through just for the sake of a game. I hope I don't end up dead in the first hour or else that will be a real shame."
