Aphrodite flitted about in the butterfly garden, the exact spot she knew to find her next target, Crysta. Hmm, judging by the description of Crysta's personality that she read about ... (totallynotstalkingthesekids
Where was Crysta at? She should have been here by now ... unless Aphrodite had sent the invitation for "Tea Time With the Butterflies!" out to the wrong address. Or perhaps the Crysta girl was not as gullible as Aphrodite thought. Perhaps she had judged the girl too quickly. Any person with any logical sense would realize that an invitation out to some obscure garden at 10PM at night was quite suspicious sounding. Oh well, nothing she could do about it. If Crysta showed up or not, Aphrodite would still find this girl one way or another...

OH! Of course she was going to show up! It was just a bit of a bother trying to sneak out of the house when her curfew was 9pm. Her sister wouldn't let her go, no matter how much she had begged. But Crysta was determined to make it to this tea party. Being at night, she hoped she'd be seeing some of the rare types of butterflies that had those beautiful glow to their wings. Who knew! Maybe she'd get to see some up close!
Fortunately Crysta had no qualms climbing out her window and onto the small overhang outside. The real trick was doing it all in a dress. It -was- a party after all! She had to look good! Crysta had picked a sundress with earth tones blended together. A shawl was wrapped around her waist to hang off one hip. She adored the little tassels that lined the edge. She had to make do with a pair of strapped sandals. Oh she hoped she wasn't under dressed!
Clutching her invitation, Crysta felt a sense of disappointment when she arrived though. All was quiet. There didn't seem anyone was there. Where as the music? The sound of voices? "Hello? Is anyone here?" She called out with her brows furrowed.

As soon as Aphrodite heard Crysta's voice calling out, she immediately hopped up from her sitting position on the fountain and floated over towards the girl. Yep, it was her alright, no doubt about it. She was even holding the card that Aphrodite had sent out. Aphrodite smiled and glided over to Crysta, "Welcome dear, glad you could make it~" Aphrodite greeted.
"Come, come, this way darling. I have a little table set up at the gazebo with tea ready and everything. All the butterflies are waiting over there as well!" Of course, Aphrodite had not been lying about the butterflies or the tea party... those were all true, but it wasn't the purpose that she had invited Crsyta here for.
Aphrodite arrived over at the small table with two chairs under the gazebo and pulled one out for Crysta as she took her seat in the other one on the other side. For this special occasion, Aphrodite had went out and found the best butterflies possible hoping that they would be enough to distract Crysta so Aphrodite would be able to explain her purpose for inviting her here. The butterflies flew about the flowers planted around the gazebo giving off a faint glow as Aphrodite poured the tea into the two cups, "So Crysta, dear... now that you are here, there is actually something that I must explain to you..." Aphrodite began.

"Oh good!" Crysta exclaimed when she saw Aphrodite. Her eyes brightened considerably now that she knew she was not alone. Oh! But she felt incredibly under dressed! Crysta glanced down at her simple sundress and felt ashamed. Aphrodite looked so beautiful! She hardly looked like she would fit in here! Crysta allowed the beautiful woman to guide her along as she began o worry the invitation between her fingers. "I'm not too late am I? Did I miss everyone?" She asked with a small note of upset in her voice. "I've never been to a tea party before..." She started to explain when she paused her words.
The gazebo, table, and chairs were a setting for only two. Crysta had imagined the tea party being...well...more? She had imagined lots more ladies in fancy dresses, like silken flower spirits all floating around on the wind. Instead she found herself being led to a single seat. She sat herself down, her hands folded upon the table top as she looked around at the butterflies. At least that part was as she imagined. Instantly Crysta's gaze grew dreamy as she watched the beautiful glowing insects.
"Mmmmhmmm?" She hummed softly as she watched one pretty yellow one flutter around a white blooming flower. She reached to take one of the cup's of tea and continues to smile dreamily. "Aren't they so pretty? Fluttering around so innocently and peacefully. I love butterflies. I think they are the closest things to physical Spirits in this world."

A space case....she wasn't even paying attention to Aphrodite being all mystical and swooshy and cool! Couldn't she appreciate the effort that went into a midnight tea party?
She cleared her throat and poured the tea into the two cups, loading her own cup with an ample amount of sugar. "Quaint," she purred. "Now, this..." she pulled out a finely detailed wand with designs carved into the mahogany surface. "This will soon become your most important item," she set it on the table and took a dainty sip of tea. As she spoke there was a noise that seemed to be cropping up. A rustling in the bushes somewhere coming towards them.
Ah, Aphrodite couldn't help but sigh gleefully. They had such...impeccable timing. As the creature shot out from the bushes she pushed herself back in her chair as the furball with gnashing teeth leaped at her. She casually stood and moved behind Crysta, still holding her tea cup. "Why don't you be a dear and deal with that and we can continue our talk?" she asked in the sweetest tone.

Crysta found the beauty of the butterflies terribly distracting. Though her hostess was just as pretty as the fluttering insets, so it was easy enough to redirect her day dreaming gaze back to Aphrodite. Particularly when she withdrew and placed the wand out on the table. Crysta set her cup down and looked at it with a expression of clear interest. "ooooooh!" She murmured. After Aphordite set the wand down on the table, Crysta rather excitedly snatched it up into her fingers. "It looks just like a fairy wand!" She exclaimed.
It looked so lovely! So delicate! It was not exactly the same design as some of the authentic African decorations on the shelves at home, but this would look perfect with all her figurines in her own bedroom! As she admired the wand, her hostess pushed herself back in her chair. Crysta looked up in surprise at the strange little creature that had appeared seemingly out of no where.
Her blue eyes widened and Crysta quickly pushed herself to her feet. "Oh my goodness! I..I don't believe it!" Crysta turned to look at Aphrodite over her shoulder as she would encourage her to take care of the little beastie. "You see it too!?" Honestly, she would have thought that she would be the only one to see a bad spirit! But this was wonderful! Crysta turned back to look at the creature.
"Okay! I'll take care of it! I just need...a stick or something..." She mused while glancing around quickly. Maybe she could smack it with a chair?

Aphrodite reached over Crysta's shoulders and grabbed the wand. She used it to prod at Crysta's hand. "Come on sweety, you don't need something like a stick, this is all you need. The rest of the power is already inside you," she cooed. "Those little guys are called chompas, what you need to do my dear is defeat them. They can be a bit of a trouble, but with your powers you can stop them....you'll meet others like you too so don't worry."
She pulled back and sat on the fountain and crossed her legs. "Now, take your time," she said, taking another sip of her sweet tea. This girl didn't seem to have any problem with her story. There were more than a couple people that wouldn't believe her. At least this one wasn't trying to deny its existence. Those ones were always so annoying and just damned impossible to be talk to. They were so stubborn with what they 'knew' was real they wouldn't accept anything they didn't know about.

Crysta allowed Aphrodite to take the wand from her. For a moment she was a little surprised, but as the pretty woman would explain to her that all she needed was the wand Crysta felt a sense of elation. She eagerly took the wand back and faced the threatening little bad spirit. For Crysta, who had spent so many years of her life believing in spirits and mystical powers that one could not see, this only seemed to verify everything she believed. Her convictions surely could not have been stronger now then at any other time in her past.
"I will defeat the bad spirit!" She declared while holding her wand firmly. She believed without question that she had a power within, so it did not surprise Crysta in the least when her wand reacted to her words. If anything she was quiet ecstatic! In a wonderful display of orange and gold sparkling light, Crysta felt the magic unleashed. It transformed her clothing, changing the sundress into a pleasing magical girl outfit, with her wand lengthening into a beautiful staff. (XD Akki is eschewing describing the transformed outfit as it is like 99% up to the Pocky later to make up)
Crysta clutched her staff excitedly between her fists. "EEEEE! I'm gunna GET YOU!" She warned the chompah before lifting the staff above her head...and charging directly at it so she could swing her magic staff in a excited attack.
"Evil Begone!!!"

"Uh.....chompa actually," Aphrodite corrected. "They're not evil spirits...just....teethy bitey little bastards," she said, smiling at that.
She continued to sip her tea as watched the girl transform. Lordy, it wasn't often it was so easy to get them to believe her. Usually the kids wanted to try bitching at her or beating up the chompas without their powers....chyea, as if! Heee hee....ahh, but this way she couldn't complain. No, she enjoyed this simple part of her job. Of course...using the powers was the second part of the fun, she couldn't wait to see how adept at adapting to these things she was. She seemed pretty flexible as is, it shouldn't take her long to work the kinks out of her new form.
The chompa however was undaunted by her warning. It gave a little growl, scooting towards her threateningly, watching the staff. But with as much gusto as it had before it hopped up and tried for a nice bite out of Crysta.

Chompah. A evil Chompah! And she got to destroy it! Crysta's eyes glittered with a excited light as she closed in on the small threatening thing. She did slow down her step though, as the creature came at her, Crysta did a strange little awkward hop on one foot. She had not expected it to come at her when she attacked! Bad things should run away from her! Crysta shifted her hands on her staff as she danced awkwardly around the creature.
Crysta narrowed her eyes a little. She knew that she had to defeat the creature, and she wouldn't have changed if she didn't have the ability. The pretty lady had spoken of a power she had. Hmm? Crysta carefully swung her staff in front of her to face the Chompah. "Well this bitey little b*****d is going to get pummeled!" She promised Aphrodite.
By focusing on her staff, Crysta felt a sort of warm pulling feeling from her chest. It raced down her arms and into the staff. From the tip of the staff, a sudden flutter of black butterflies burst. The sharp winged cloud flew towards the Chompah, causing Crysta to crow with delight. "I'm MAGICAL!!"

Aphrodite couldn't help but smile a little. Sure she was an air head...but her obliviousness was kind of cute in all honesty. She seemed oddly cheery....it was a nice refresh from a lot of the other little kids that told her she was full of crap and didn't even appreciate when she saved them. Ahh, poor Aphrodite, under appreciated.
The chompa let out a shrill cry, reeling from the butterfly storm. But the cuts from the wings just seemed to make it more angry, it made for another leap at her, mouth wide to show off the impressive amount of teeth.
"One more of those should be enough dear," she glanced at her pocket watch slightly bemused. Impressive, it usually took far longer....ahh, but then she usually went through the disbelief. OOOH! She'd be home in time to watch LOST. Excellent.

That was so incredible! Crysta couldn't stop beaming as the flutter of black butterflies faded away after dealing their damage to the evil chompah creature. Validation! All those nights she spent praying to the Spirits! Praying for guidance and asking them how she could help! Now she had her answer! This was how she could help them! Help the world! She heard the pretty ladies encouraging voice behind her, telling her that she only needed to attack another time.
But oooh! "Eeee! It looks all meany!" She replied as the Chompah would bare it's teeth and lunge after her. Crysta leapt backwards and bounced around the clearing a bit. "Eeeeee! Hee hee hee!" She couldn't hold back the gleeful squeal. She -should- have been terrified, but she was just so excited at being chosen for this special gift that she couldn't feel anything other then elation! The creatures lunging was obviously not something that should be taken lightly, but Crysta's entire nature was nothing else but Light.
"Grrr! I'm gunna getchu first! Mean bitey Chompah!" Crysta bared her own teeth in a growl before swinging her staff before her again. "Evil Be GONE!" She declared loudly. Once again, just as she expected, there came a burst of fluttering butterflies. Instead of black though, these ones glittered like gold. The little butterflies flew towards the Chompah. The tiny little things exploded upon touching the ground or the chompah.

This time the chompa really was done for. The biting wings of the butterflies sliced and diced and the little wings that exploded left nothing but singed grass. Huh....if she wasn't such a bubble head Aphrodite would bet this girl could be a very strong magical girl....however....she got the feeling Crysta didn't really have the attention span to do so.
Aphrodite casually took another sip of tea. "Well....our nice little set up was ruined....why don't you sit right here with me," she said, patting a spot on the fountain next to her. "We have time to still have a chinwag if you had any questions." Usually she'd shoot off like a bat out of hell....possibly looking for more kids to annoy and confuse....but why not sit and finish her tea? It was nice out and LOST wasn't on just yet...plus usually she'd answer questions shouted at her while people were running around the chompas, it was nice having someone's undivided attention while she spoke...and someone that actually listened to boot!

The scorch mark left behind by the creature was...curious. She clearly had won in the battle though. Crysta calmed down a little now that she was no longer in battle, though her cheeks were still flushed with heat from excitement. She stepped over to the spot and gently poked her staff butt at the singed grass.
When Aphrodite spoke, it drew Crysta's attention back to her. Her face lit up yet again, and she unhesitatingly bounced over to plunk her little tooshy down on the fountain beside Aphrodite. She hugged her staff to her chest and turned a nearly worshipful gaze upon the pink dressed woman. Did she have questions?
"Oh...oh yes.I have so so so many questions!" She breathed excitedly. "Who are you? What is your name? Are you a Spirit?" Crysta glanced at her staff thoughtfully. "Will more of those things show up? Do I get to fight them again?" Her fingers tightened on the staff tightly. "This is mine for...forever right? I...I don't have to give it back do I?"

She couldn't help but chuckle at the child-like wonder. Ahh, this was why she didn't use her talents on adults....they had no sparkle to them! No adult would take such joy from a staff and the ability to fight crime and triumph over evil. No, they'd just think of how it would make them money...shameless bastards.
"Well, I am Aphrodite. I'm not a spirit, more a guide for gifted children like you. And you will find others like you with different powers, but be careful, not all of them will want to be your friend." She paused to take another look at the remains of the chompa and sighed. "Unfortunately those will be the least of your worries, chompas are like....the bottom feeders. Thief is awakening more children like I am, but unlike the children I awaken she goes for ones that wont use these powers for good, you'll find them and they'll be looking for trouble so you need to take care of yourself. It'd be best if you could find a group to fight with." She again chuckled at Crysta's glee and concern for her staff. It was sort of sweet in all honesty. "Yes, that's yours now and forever."
