Her name is Thistle. I got her from the shelter on Friday. She's a four year old golden retriever mix and is the first dog I've ever owned.

Needless to say, I haven't written more than 600 words since getting her.

She's actually really calm and gentle. Wonderful dog... took her to the park on a night hike today. We're both tired out now.

Which completely negates the hours of bawling over a box of rapidly emptying tissues because the book ends with ripping your heart out after spending the entire thing making you love some dog and care about it and its owner that is now behind his fictional house burying a fictional dog that died in his arms.
