A lot of people say that they are christians, yet they cuss like there's no tomorrow, they love getting drunk and often have sex. They act like a christian around most everybody, but to a specific person(s) they all are like "forget God who the crap needs him?!" etc etc. My question is, what is the point of calling yourself a christian if you are not going to follow the what the Bible says & act as your supposed to around EVERYONE. Does it make you feel like you fit in to say that you're a christian sometimes, but the other times deny God.
Again, why call yourself a christian if you're not going to act & admit to ALL that you are one?
I don't think I'm putting my question out there real well... If I can find a better way of explaining it I will. This is just something that was on my mind when I was browsing the guild conversations and then looking at what people who 'seemed' like strong christians said on other peoples profiles , which totally went against the christian beliefs Christians are capable of sinning.
Not everyone who is involved in sin and cussing and partying are unbelievers. They could be what the Bible calls "Carnal" Christians. They are living disobedient lives and their heavenly Father will chastise them for it.
In the Old Testament, David committed adultry and even murder, but he was a true believer in the Lord God. God blessed David in many ways, but He also punished him for his rebellion.
Also.. not all people who live squeeky clean lives, go to church, give to the poor.. ect..are true believers.
okay? are you beginning to understand?
It is not always easy for us to be able to tell who is and who isn't born of Gods Spirit.
It has been my experience that a characteristic of those who seem the most like true believers love the word of God and hunger for it and desire to learn it and want to be close to God and far away from sin. whereas unbelievers fight against Gods word. Gods word offends them and makes them uncomfortable, they hate it because it exposes their wickedness. They are always wrestling w/ scripture and trying to deny what it says. Unbelievers and disobedient Christians want to live in darkness, but those who believe and wish to bring glory to Jesus Christ want to walk in the light.
Jesus is the light.
Also the word of God is the light.
Psalms 119:105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
obedient Christians want to obey the word of God and let Gods word be their guide in all things whatever they do.
So essentially, when someone claims they believe in Jesus , we can't always be for sure who actually is saved and who isn't.
and remember, Peter denied Christ three times and he was a Christian.
