hey, so ive talked about my bf some on the forum before... well we were having a conversation earlier today and he said something that bothered me and i want to know if anyone can help me....
he told me that he didnt like how all christian beliefs centered around being fully relient on god and how you are lowering yourself to god.... can someone plz give me something to help him. ive seen him and church and i can tell he is being challenged in being there... i think there are some god things goin on with him that he is having trouble excepting.so scripture protaining to this would help and if not anything else, can you pray?
i know god can do anything, move mountains even.

are you sure that your b/f is a believer? cos he doesn't sound like one. the words we speak are the contents of our hearts. Words are important. I mean, he's not just saying that because someone is holding a sword to his throat, right?
also..
if you're a believer in Christ Jesus and he isn't, you two will always and forever have major problems.
and honestly, you are disobeying God by being unequally yoked w/ an unbeliever.
i'll pray that your boyfriend get saved. and you can put all the bible verses in front of his face that you want to, but he'll never accept it or understand it until he gets saved.

Also...
what exactly doesn't he like about relying on God? can you be more specific? For example.. say there's a guy who just lays around watching TV and playing video games and his fridge is empty and his cupboards are empty of food and his kids are hungry. You ask him about it and he says "oh i'm relying on God to feed me."
yea... that's pretty foolish. and it's obvious that we have to be willing to work in order to eat. So.. what's your b/f not agreeing w/ about relying on God. we have to rely fully on Jesus to take us to heaven. there's not one thing we can do besides believe in Him to save us.

So.. what's your b/f not agreeing w/ about relying on God. we have to rely fully on Jesus to take us to heaven. there's not one thing we can do besides believe in Him to save us. i suppose i didnt include that he isnt a believer, thought i did. and when it comes to the rely on god thing its kinda a thing i cant really explain any better then i have since i only know what he is willing to share with me on the subject.... i personally dont believe it wrong to be with a non believer, i usually seek to date christians but some how i never do... most of the ppl i have dated are now tho... not saying im banking on that happening again... but i also live in a non-christian home and when i first shared that story it was with a person who was in the same situation i am now and she told me how it turned out 8 yrs later.... nlt that i bank on that one story either. i have the faith and hope that keeps me in all this.... and i suppose actually seeing it, like when you are at church and sometimes you can tell when ppl are making full hearted decisions based on their body language, this is what im seeing... im seeing that struggleif it makes any sence to anyone else....

ok, so i have looked up some scripture and such.... and i have read that christians and non shouldnt marry.... but cant make a decision on the text seeing as im given no context to compair it too.... im so used to ppl pulling scripture out of context to prove a point that im leary of it now...
as for marriage, i see it as somewhat a bad thing in that they can lessen your faith, but not neccisarilly when you are strong in it.... ive heard first hand, and read countless stories of partners bringing their spouse to christ, not to asume this is gods plan for me, but cant help but think sometimes god puts those ppl in those places, at those times for a reason. i believe everything is for a reason, so this may be where i seem hopeful... i am. ive prayed since the time i knew how too that my parents would be saved, and just b/c it hasnt happened yet doesnt lessen my faith, it gives me more.
i have the faith of god moving ppl, and things changing on this earth....for the great. im sry if ppl dont agree with my views, my over optimism, but thats how ive gotten thru most of what i have...i was depressed for over 6 years and now that i can be happy, and joyful, and feel like im living for a reason i cant help but want to be optimistic about life.

I also have faith and i'm very optimistic that doing things Gods way will bring good success and good results in life. I am certain that God can change people's lives and I am convinced that Christ Jesus the Lord is the only source of true joy and peace and happiness. i do not believe that i don't have to obey the scriptures quoted above. If those verses mean something else to you, then that's between you and God and I accept that you know what's best for you and your faith and happiness. the b/f will be in my prayers.

Remember, the Bible contains most topics, including about believers and non-believers. yea, ive been reading. i agree with sarlo on the scripture he posted, but have read other meanings behind it so im somewhat unsure of what exactly i am reading.... that one passage seems to be the only one most online search engines know for the subject..... and i would kind of like other scripture references if possible.... talked to "prayerwarrior" and she had a different view similar to what i was thinking in that some ppl are put together for a reason and to guide the other to the lord... if anyone knows of any other scripture on marriage plz help, id greatly appriciate it. not that im jumping into anything.... if and when i do marry will be years away..... at least after i finish school.
