A big thank you to Mei Silja for typing this out!
A proper post and formatting will come for this when it's not midnight haha!

Any questions and such can be posted in this thread, questions will be answered and info can be added!

Quote:
The body language of a Nocturna.

The basics
Happy: A happy Nocturna will of course smile, their ears will be up and often their tails wagging. They might well purr, while not all Noc’s can do this the ones that can are often found purring when being petted or they are particularly happy. Their wings might wiggle on their back, but it will not open. Sounds of mewling or odd chirp are more often heard of kittens however adults can do it as well but most do not and a happy Noc can still growl! A growl does not always mean angry, it can mean they are excited or pleased!

Sad: A sad Nocturna will be frowning, or even crying. Their ears will be down but turned to the side as if their ears were that of a floppy eared dog. Their tails might be held still or perhaps wrapped around their leg; some might even tuck their tails between their legs so that the tip will be at their stomach. A sad Noc’s wings will often lower down, but will not open unless to wrap around themselves in a hug.

Angry: And angry Nocturna will be glaring, when this happens their pupils may well narrow to slits. A Noc’s tail will bristle, not to be mistaken by bottling instead the fur seems to go ridged. The tail tip might flick back and forth or the whole tail might whip about. Their wings may very well open and flair or some may open and close their wings in agitation. A very clear sign of an angry Noc might be their wings or tail. More on the wings later, but an angry Noc will have ears flat against their head, a Noc with fur along their ears might even bristle that.

Scared: A scared Nocturna will have wide pupils, their ears will be folded back but unlike when angry the ears will twitch back and forth. A scared Noc will have a bottled tail; this is when all the fur on the tail puffs up. The tail will stand either straight but pointing down, or be tucked between the Noc’s legs. A scared Nocturna will likely have their wings out and in front of them if they are scared of being hit. Note, a scared Noc can quickly turn hostile if they are pushed in a corner.

Wings
A Nocturna’s wings mean a lot to it, very likely it is why many times Brutes are viewed with distaste. The wings are more often used by a dominate Nocturna; they will open their wings and flair them showing their size and strength. Arching wings show dominance, dropped wings will show submission or fear. Wings that are opened and closed in quick succession show unease anger or fright. Wings from another Noc going and folding around another is a show of protectiveness, dominance or possessiveness to a threat or other force normally another Noc.

Tails
Tails in the end are not so important, more so they offer fashion sense to a Noc. A Nocturna with a tail is a bit easier to tell their emotions because most do not have the control over their bodies to stop their tail from moving. Still a normal happy Noc will wag its tail while one scared or sad will tuck theirs. A waving tail means interest or that a Noc is paying attention. A tail that lifts and thumps down means anger agitation or even warning signal. A flourish of a tail mean uncaring or ignoring, perhaps even an insult depending on what is going on as it is done.

Ears
Like their tails a Noc does not really need their ears however they are useful for hearing more sound ranges then a humans ears or a half breeds ears. Like the tail ears are often now so controlled as facial expressions so telling a Noc’s emotions. Flicking ears on a Noc means acknowledgment but ears that are flicked when eyes look away means dismissive. Ears that peer forward so attention and interest also happiness. Ears to the side show weariness or nervousness.

In all
Many Nocturna have learned to control their emotions, facial, ears tails and wings. It is unlikely you will find a Noc who is so close to being feral that they will disregard what others think and go off body language alone such as flaring the wings hissing and growling or even purring. There are families where they are still using this, while there are families who have taught themselves to control everything and act human. In all however, many times it is up to the Noc either knowingly or instinctively, if they show signs of being more true to animal nature or humans. It is more likely a kitten who see’s their father or mother using body language, that they will use this to when they are older verses hiding emotions and acting human.

Dominate
A dominate Noc will more often than not have larger wings and even be larger in bodies, though not all dominates will have wings and most Noc’s are quite large in size. A dominate Noc when angry will open its wings and beat them or fan them out. This is a threat! If the other Noc does not back down a fight can come to blows, or if the other Noc were to open their wings this is a challenge. A challenge will normally be a peaceful one, Noc’s today will talk or the one with smaller wings will close their wings dipping their ears to show submission if they truly feel they have lost. Not all Noc’s do this, some are more humans but many Dominates will still use their wings when really flustered. A dominate will square their shoulders and arch their wings. This is an act of curling their wings so there is more space between wings and back yet they remain closed. Baring teeth and growling is a threat or warning, however growling can be a sign of pleasure. A dominate will arch their neck a bit like a proud swan but not as noticeable.

Submissive
A submissive Noc will hardly ever open their wings, unwilling to challenge and risk damage or perhaps they can think more clearly when angered and so know already to keep their wings in check. A submissive Noc will often dip their ears; this is where their ears move down but unlike when angry or scared they do not go over their head but to the side of it and like angry point back. Tilting their head to the side and back exposes throats, a sign of trust or one of submission and one of the deepest signs of. When close to the Noc they are showing submission to often the will nuzzle under their chin. This shows caring as well but more likely happens with Submissive’s. Growling in a submissive can mean anger, fear, agitation or even warning. A submissive Noc does not mean a weak one; they are just less likely to get hot blooded.

Neutral
These Noc’s are rare! They can be both dominate and submissive and many times this can lead to confusion on their part and that of another Noc as their signals can be mixed! A neutral has the chance of turning dominate or submissive with the right mate or partner. However until clear boundaries are made it can be confusing for both parties and can lead to fights but mostly this happens when the other party is dominate.

Mating season
Ah yes, lovely fluffy kittens soon to spring forth but mating seasons mean a lot more and often mean more surges in emotions and changes in personality until it passes. Here are some changes that can happen for Noc’s though again some Noc’s are simply more human than others and they might not even be attached to mating seasons any longer. This is most often true for half-breeds, or Noc’s who have had a human or half-breed parent. The mating season takes place in the start of spring and ends near the middle of spring. Another mating season starts in the fall and end’s early winter.

Mated Noc’s
A mated Noc will have fewer problems with mating season as they have their mate however this is only true if they have mated before at any time and so are bounded. During the mating season the dominate Noc is far more possessive of his or her mate, often ant dominate touching them will result in their anger and fights might break out. The submissive Noc will often stick closer to their dominate and want to touch them or be able to smell them to be reassured they are there.
Neutral’s
A mated neutral will normally act either submissive or dominate, however unlike a Noc fit into one role a neutral will revert back and forth. One with a dominate partner might snap at them and become annoyed and angered. This will likely happen when there is mixed signals or they are stressed or feeling unsafe. If their dominate partner shows they are dominate this will stop and they will change to submissive again.
Now when a partner is submissive they can turn submissive themselves and be unsettled or needy but when their partner is threatened or in season this will quickly change. A neutral with a submissive partner is easier the calmer sort between the two and can more easily settle down.

Unmated Noc’s

Submissive: A submissive Noc will actively seek a strong Dominate but more often than not they will do it without their own conscious knowledge. During the mating season a submissive can be a bit touchy, unwilling to let any dominate touch them without being shown the dominate is strong or good enough. During this season a submissive is more likely to become pregnant, while even without the mating season a Noc can get pregnant it is rare. A submissive during this time is territorial, another submissive smelling like a dominate that has been with them they will often go and fight or trade harsh words. During the mating season a submissive will feel hot and uncomfortable, this can be eased through the act of mating and a little while after until it builds up again.

Dominate: A dominate Noc will be more likely to get in a fight during this time, their testosterone will be high and they might even look for a fight. A dominate Noc will want to mate and so look for a submissive that does not smell strongly of another dominate unless of course the submissive in unclaimed then it’s all fair game during this time. The will be protective and possessive of the submissive in their grasp, however they might have more than one submissive during this time! A dominate feels no discomfort while at mating season unless they get close to mating but are suddenly denied or pushed away. Then they get a lovely nose full of pheromones and to tight pants!

Neutral: The neutral Noc is again different here. If they are being submissive often to a dominate that is unmated they will like a submissive, start secreting pheromones to attract a dominate and their bodies will start to heat up and burn.
A neutral Noc who has been showing more signs of dominance will be able to smell submissive’s instead and their body will not secrete a smell to attract dominates nor will it burn with need.
Another possibility for the neutral is if they are getting mixed signals from another Noc during mating season they will act dominate yet still smell like a submissive. Again neutrals are rare indeed.

All Nocs
All submissive’s during the mating season exude a smell only Dominates can smell, this tells dominates they can be mated. To a submissive they cannot smell this at all, but they are slightly more in tuned to the smell of a dominate but it is nothing like the smell a submissive gives to dominates it is something simply telling the submissive that this Noc is dominate.

Pregnant
During the mating season once a submissive is pregnant their smell will change from inviting to one repealing and warning off dominates. This is a protective thing and most dominates will head this warning, however if they do happen to try and touch an unwilling submissive they will quickly find out the submissive will be in no mood and end up leaving with bites scratches and bruises. Of course if the submissive has more control over themselves and have a weapon, worse injuries may happen. A submissive who if pregnant can mate with another dominate and it might result in mixed kittens but this is extremely rare as the opening for his happening is a day at the most before the body responds with turning the pheromone to warn off any advances.
After mating season a pregnant Noc can very well make love or mate more with anyone, however some Noc’s will not like being touched at all by another Dominate even their mate. Male however who have gotten pregnant, may NOT mate while pregnant. This will lead to a miscarriage 100% of the time.

I hope this helps everyone in role plays and I will say this, Neutrals are RARE! Even in real life a neutral person is rare so please don't make dozens of them and I will tell you now, they are hard to role play! Lady has one and as do I, they are not for easy role playing and they use a lot of body language it is what makes them what they are!
