Hirano's been quite busy, lately. Not only is he working on Drifters and new cover art for the Hellsing OVA I-V Blu-Ray box set, he's also working on Bishōnen de Meitantei de Doesu, a three-part manga that centers around a handsome ophthalmologist who assists in a murder investigation in Tokyo in the early 20th century. The first chapter of the first part was published in the 2010 Summer issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Daioh Genesis magazine.

I remember hearing about this concept back when Hellsing ended and everybody was wondering what Hirano would do next. It's a pleasant surprise to see him follow through with it. I'm curious as to why he chose an ophthalmologist as his main protagonist. I guess I'll just have to wait and see where it goes.
