We all know that Death Note is one of, if not THE, most intellectually stimulating and bad-a** detective story to date, I wanted to start a forum discussing which the guild members like better between the manga and the anime. I'm definitely more taken by the manga. The anime is decent, but it doesn't even come close. The live-action movies are even up for talk, but I personally thought they sucked. But we should talk about the pros and cons of each, and just get some opinions and thoughts, or maybe even what you would like to see (i.e. a more accurate movie, some spin-offs, etc). All I ask is that we don't get into fights or arguments, this is just up for discussion of both versions of the story.

i like the manga better with the exception of the last episode. granted, they took quite a few liberties with episode 37 (it's not that similar to tsugumi ohba-sama's original concept) it's really well done and really exciting to watch. personally, that particular episode of the anime also really affected me emotionally. such was not the case with the manga. other than that, the manga is much better.

iv seen like all the anime and note any of the manga and i saw the first movie in Japanese with English subs lolz so i think the anime lolz

I enjoyed the manga more, the show was really good, but it didn't quite measure up.

Death note was in the top ten best anime of the century, ever since and I started watching it and i finished it like 5 times i just thought it as the best then full mtel alchemist came out and i read the book and i thought it was really good but death note was so much better so now im a zombie for death note it was so freakin good i heart it

Manga and Anime are awsome but anime has a edgy point to it that is why i like it but sometimes it is just plain wierd

1.) I own all thirteen books and I enjoy reading them over and over. I have read them about 15 times begining to end and I love it. So I like the mangas better.
2.) The anime I've watched about 3 times, begining to end, and I did not like how they changed the end. So, I guess I don't like the anime, even though it was hilarious to watch.
3.) The movies sucked! They completely changed the plot and L did not write his own name in the Death Note. He was killed by Rem. The third movie, L Change the World, didn't make sense considering there was no Mello. Just Near and a little girl. How is that supposed to clear up on which one L wanted to succeced him???

I liked the manga much better. I could think it through (the parts i wanted to anyway) while reading. I didnt like the end of the anime either. The only live action movie i watched was L Change the World, which was ehh for me. It was changed so much from the novel sad

I liked the manga much better but I think the anime did a good job of cleaning up some unnecessarily long, and confusing lines. Unfortunately, the anime got kind of boring because I felt that it was much slower than the manga. And even though people generally don't like the Death Note movies, I loved them! I thought they were very interesting, and the alternate ending was just heartbreaking and I thought it was just as well. smile
