I liked the music over anything else, including the animation.

Samurai Champloo is one of my favorites.

I started watching Samurai 7 and I wanted to check out Burst Angel and Last Exile.

I hate the opening song for Samuai Champloo. The background music is ok.

Oh yeah, I think just about everyone skips the opening by Shing02.

I want to watch Samurai 7. I know I have it queued on Netflix.

I'm back to bitorrent again, though.

I watched Paradise Kiss for about 6 or 7 episodes because I like the art a lot but it just moved too slow :T

Watching Yakitate Japan, Bleach, Blood+(kinda slow) and One Piece (249!).

I thought you were really against that kind of activity?

I started watching Paranoia Agent yesterday; I like it better than Samurai Champloo. I was watching it dubbed so that I could give my full attention to the terrific animation.

They seem to be going by the manga which really makes me happy. I still need to watch the rest of the eps that I downloaded, though.

karomon: Yes, but since the anime isn't available on DVD in the US, I don't feel guilty. Plus I deleted a bunch of other anime to make HD room.

What is Paranoia Agent about? Honestly, SC isn't my favorite anime, I just like the music A LOT. It's too hip and flashy that it's annoying. Some eps are pretty good, though.

I find the hipness to be on the same level as Cowboy Bebop, and it pretty much did the opposite of annoying me. Are they gonna come out with one of those beefy boxed sets? If so, I'm in.

I've been meaning to check out Lupin.

It's by the guy who did Perfect Blue, and it really shows. It's a little like Perfect Blue but weirder and trippier and about different people. The plot is hard to explain, vaguely speaking it's about the search for a young serial attacker who's been bashing people in the head with a golden baseball bat. It seems like he's not a real person and also the people who are being attacked seem to be asking for it in one way or another, There are a lot of psychotic episodes, people's stories all tie together. It's good.

Nalfein: Disagreed! I think CB's hipness was more subtle and suited the atmosphere, plus it had the jazzy/bebop/funk theme which is more tolerable and less 'in your face' than what was in SC. My examples were some of the hip hop elements I remember from the series (most blatant: beatboxing).

There's still a lot to like about SC, but it's mostly in association with the music. Some of the standalone eps were pretty good. WhenI start comparing it to Rurouni Kenshin, which was longer and more in-depth with their stories, it kiinda knocks off a few points for SC.

In any case, I still plan on buying the DVDs (preferably in a slim boxset) and I would watch them again. Every time I think of the music in SC I imagine a wooden bridge in Tokyo with orange red sunset in the backdrop and Mystline playing in the background.

I'm in the middle of a couple of series right now:

Chrono Crusade and Full Metal Panic. I suppose technically since they haven't finished making them, I'm also not done with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig and Samurai Champloo. Those're being bought DVD by DVD though, as opposed to the first two which I'm borrowing from friends who own boxed sets. xd And then there's Full Metal Alchemist and IGPX that I catch every Saturday... And whenever they start running new eps of Inu Yasha again...
I guess I never did finish buying all the Initial D; I stopped after season 1. It's interesting, I just don't have much of an income. sweatdrop
I own plenty of other stuff that I constantly rewatch too, though I think one of the best sets is Generator Gawl. Not only can I stand both the dub and the sub, but it's got such a cool twist at the end.
