First: What's wrong with Buddhism?
Second: Pokemon is just a game. I personally don't like it, but those of you who do, more power to you I guess. I don't see any thing evil about it, if that's what the OP is hinting at.

Below is from a website please read as follows:
First, let us examine the word Pokemon itself. Common wisdom says Pokemon is an abbreviation for Pocket Monsters, but this is not true. Pokemon is in actuality a corruption of two Latin words, Pokos and Mono. Mono, is of course the origin of an identical English prefix indicating “one” or “single.” Pokos is a significantly more complex term. There is a joke circulating the Internet claiming that Pokemon actually means, "Buy all this Junk." while I have been unable to trace the source of this rumor, it has a foundation in truth that I doubt the original humorist intended. (this crap goes on forever if you want the address ill post it) from a website... okay lets get real stupid for a moment
to have"laughter" is extremely evil for it in vibes on the English language in which you add a "S" (which un doubt ably stands for SATAN!!! MWHAHAHA) and it becomes "SLAUGHTER" therefor any act of laughter would be translated as a small cut from slaughter ... at this point you should back off from any thing associated with enjoyment period!!!!!
On a serious note .. i dunno to be honest i have pokemon blue/red/i think silver/diamond/pearl/soul silver and heart gold
my wife loves them ,honestly they bore the heck outta me.. either way i would have to say from what i have watched the anime is one of the cleanest things i have seen on tv considering.....
Now the question is !!!!! have you prayed over it? has it become a idol? is there anything in front of you in which you would be allowing wickedness before your eyes?
Make sure if anything its not guilt from a pastor but conviction from God... believe me if you go down a road were people can make you think Gods convicting you of something you are going down a dangerous path.
im a terrible typist i know smile

@Lord Talis: Haha, it hasn't gotten in the way. Oi ve, the show is so innocent, aside form the "violence" (if that's what you can call violence these days...) ;D Haha

It's mainly about self realization and inner peace. Christianity kind of tyes in those two things, in a round about way.

Yeah, but at the same time, the reject there being a god, angels, demons, and so forth, and have a reincarnation instead. Of course, as I experimented with Buddhism before I became Christian, I also know it is almost a life-philosophy, very peaceful, loving and so forth.
Like CS Lewis said, all religions have some hint of truth to it, as they come from humans who were made by God.

Like CS Lewis said, all religions have some hint of truth to it, as they come from humans who were made by God. True! And I so agree with that quote by CS Lewis. I just can't bring myself to think that Buddhism is bad though, or atleast all that bad, you know. Which is why I asked what's wrong with it.

I just can't bring myself to think that Buddhism is bad though, or atleast all that bad, you know. Which is why I asked what's wrong with it. well i believe so..a lot of principles of Buddhism are actually good, and peaceful, but it's the fact that they don't know Jesus that they worship another god, right? but not necessarily intending eeeeevil...right?..like..it's human nature to seek for something or someone more supreme to worship? and as for LAUGHTER, and SLAUGHTER..isn't it that God is also the God of happiness and joy?..and therefore He created laughter as well..like..it's not a grave sin if a pastor crack some jokes during sermon to keep the congregation awake and alive... and besides, maybe it looks like that in the english language just because of how the words are spelled..such as for example spanish, (i just looked it up in an online dictionary) reir, risa, carcajada (laughter) and matanza, carnear (slaughter)..alter one letter and do you think the meaning of each word will already be from laughter to slaughter?..haha! well, just my opinion.. blaugh and i don't think the creator of pokemon really meant to have another secret, deeper meaning to the title itself..i also do like pokemon and to me, they're still just the cute little adorable pocket monsters we have always loved!.. wink

The religion doesn't really worship any thing. that depends on what form of Buddhism your talking about, in Tibetan Buddhism there are deities both good and bad. as for pokemon it's just a show and a game series meant for entertainment, people need to stop over analyzing it.

True, but the form I studied, they didn't believe in a deity. And isn't the main goal, nirvana? To achieve absolute nothingness? P: I forgot most of the gory details, but I remember the general philosophy is that attachments is what makes people suffer; especially to material things. Most of their meditation stuff is really cool though. Freaking hard as heck to do, but I've always found it extremely satisfying.
Over analyzing, indeed. I think the "gotta catch 'em all" slogan might be the opposite of majority of Buddhist philosophy rofl
