Well now that you're here let me clear some things up. First of all every entry fee goes into the guild's account and not his, he can't withdraw it. So he may have been planning on using it as the prize money and royally screwed up, or wanted to keep it all to himself and still royally screwed up. Either way that prize money has to come out of his pocket because the guild funds won't give him anything. If he does indeed have the funds for this then that's great. If he messed up the I feel bad for him. If he's just a self-serving, inconsiderate brat then I report him. Let's wait and see, remember to kindly ask him to keep things updated and maybe answer to this of which he is. I personally have no developed opinion on the matter, but I am a bit skeptical of his claim.
