 Cadan was on a mission. She wasn't sure what exactly this mission was, but that didn't stop her from roaming around the foothills like she owned them. The outgoing pup was sifting through the grass and sniffing at various things. She managed to escape a grumpy cricket when she smelled it, too, only for the bug to hop after her in annoyance. With that disaster swiftly avoided, the Key continued on her journey. She wasn't too concerned where she was, or even what time of day was it; she only cared that she was always on the move, regardless of everything else around her. At one point, however, she got a little thirsty from her travels. Taking a short break sounded great. A small stream became an ideal drinking place when she trotted over and began lapping at the cool, fresh water. After she finished she planned to get right back on the trail.

 "What a fine, fresh morning," thought Biffy. As usual, he was at the clearing near the lake, his favorite spot of all time. Well, it's not as if he travels a lot, either, but if there was one place in the world that he would be seen in, it would be the clearing. He doesn't understand it himself, but this clearing gives him energy for the day, as it provides him with everything he needs. Of course, by 'everything', that means food and sleep.
As usual, the Lock was lying on his stomach far off the left of the lake, and from there, it has been his daily habit of chewing a piece of grass while dozing off. Today, however, his daily routines were disrupted when an annoying sound of water sloshes were heard. Biffy lazily opened up one eye to see what is causing this, and promptly saw a Key at the other side of the lake, refreshing themselves. He just pursed his lips and kept watching, cautious of the other's next action.

After she drank her fill, Cadan licked her lips and sat back, taking time to scratch an itch behind her ear with her foot. “That was tasty,” she stated, giving her brown and white fur a good shake. She would have turned and been on her way had not a new scent captured her attention. The smell itself was grassy, and…hmm, what was that? Following her nose, she sniffed along the ground and went about tracking until she bumped into something, or rather someone.
Startled, the Key yelped and fell back on her haunches, her chocolate eyes wide. When she noticed that it was only a Lock – and a cow Lock at that – she figured she was in no danger at all. Then again, she was far too trusting for her own good. Her tail began to wag as she stood to all fours again, gazing at the stranger in a friendly way. “Hey there!” she greeted. Her front legs crouched to the ground as her lower half wiggled in the air. “Who’re you?”

Emerald green orbs lazily followed the dog-like Key a few meters from where he was. Slowly he was about to doze off again, until he realized that the other was quickly drawing near. Startled, his ear perked up and he slowly swayed his tail, watching. "Is it...smelling the ground?" he thought, but upon further inspection, the answer dawned upon him, "Aah, the Key's a dog.."
Biffy decided to just let it do what it wants, but he figured that it would approach him either way, so he remained stationary and rested his head on his arms. As predicted, the other did approach the lazy Lock, as well as talk to him. Biffy blinked once, or twice, slowly after her question. "Hey," he said, blankly staring, "I'm Biffy. You can call me Biff." The lock raised his head up as he chewed on a stalk of grass.
"You?"

Cadan was quite impressed. She’d never met anyone with the name Biffy before. Even if it was something silly to get excited over, that didn’t stop her from squirming around happily. “Hi, Biff!” she greeted him again, her tail wagging even faster (by this point it was hard to make out it even was a tail due to the speed in which it wagged). “I’m Cadan. Do you always hang around here?” She wasn’t sure if this was where Biff lived, or if he was simply visiting and enjoying the grass. Either way, the joyful Key was thrilled that they’d met. “I’m on an adventure!”

"Me? Here?" he said, not expecting much of a conversation, "Yeah, I guess. This is where I go to loosen up. I can tell you don't frequent here, seeing that this seems to be the first time we met."
The cow Lock's ear perked up quickly at the end of the word 'adventure'. Although a bit doubtful because if he assessed this right, he was talking to a girl, definitely not a figure who would impose herself on something as much as adventure. Trying hard to keep unnoticed, he lowered his head back and closed his eyes, keeping on eye half-open to stay alert to the other's actions. He was definitely interested. Biffy pulled the grass off his lips and said, "Adventure, eh?" He raised an eyebrow, "Do tell me more."

“I don’t frequent anywhere!” Cadan commented, sounding very sure of herself. “I like to keep moving so I can see new places and meet new people.” Which explained why she was so keen of traveling and roaming about the land. Since Biffy was obviously interested in her adventures, the dog-like Key sat beside the grass-eating Lock and looked at the sky for a moment. “I don’t know how to explain it. The whole world is just out there, waiting to be explored. That’s more than enough of a reason for me to go out and see it, don’t you think?” Her tail wagged as she looked at her new friend.

Biffy shifted his view to follow Cadan, who was now positioning herself at his side. "I'm not too sure about that," he said, "There are also some things in the world that can be explored even if you stay stationary." Seeing that the other was gazing at the sky, he did just about the same, wondering if she got what he was talking about. But it goes without saying that she was not lazy like him, and figured that he might as well come along, much to his dread. "Ahh, forget everything I said," he claimed, standing up and facing the Key, "If you want, I'll go with you on this adventure of yours."
"Let's go out and explore."

It had never once occurred to Cadan that there would be someone that would join in on her travels. The very idea shocked her, and now that someone was actually offering to accompany her? Why, it was far too much to comprehend! The Key gaped for a minute and then sprung to her feet, looking ridiculously happy. She ran around Biffy in quick circles before she returned to his side, looking eager. “This is going to be great!”

The cow Lock flinched as Cadan suddenly transformed from a happy-go-lucky key into a maximum ball of energy. And being the dog she is, she suddenly circled him, looking happier than ever. And for the first time today, maybe in a few days or weeks, even if it was very faint, a small chuckle escaped from his lips. He was glad that he made someone happy, as it is a very rare occurrence for him. As he found his opening, he started walking ahead in a random direction and asked, "So where do we plan to go? It might be a good start to finish off your recent adventure of yours, then continue from there."

Cadan followed Biffy eagerly, trotting alongside him. However, when the Lock mentioned something about ‘finishing off an adventure’ or something, she stopped. Blinking, she sat down for a moment and tilted her head. “Yanno, I’ve never thought about that. I always start a new adventure before I can finish an old one,” she commented. It was a strange, never-ending concept that she hadn’t put much thought into. “I guess the end of my adventure would be to get off this hill we’re on.”
(( Nooot really. XD It’s just ‘go with the flow’-ish. ))

Biffy took a sudden pause as he noticed that Cadan, who was previously beside him, disappeared from the corner of his eye. He looked back, assuming that she stopped, and she did. The Lock chewed on his grass as he listened, and wondered if Cadan ever made awesome discoveries on her explorations if she never actually finished one. But, then again, she may not be the type.
But down the hill? Biffy had never even reached the other side of the lake yet. He was just there everyday, grazing on grass on his usual spot, so he knows zilch about what's waiting for them downhill. His eye let out a very faint twitch of excitement, which he quickly covered up by turning around. "Ahem, alright then," he said, clearing his throat, "Lead the way."

Cadan's tail wagged as she watched Biffy start off in the direction they were going in. Gathering herself to her feet, she walked by his side, her ears flopping in the warm breeze. “I'm really glad I met you, Biff. If I hadn't I wouldn't be finishing my adventure,” she giggled, looking up into her companion's emerald green eyes. “Most people just brush me off, or don't wanna hear about my adventures at all.” Such a thing didn't bother Cadan much, but it was nice having someone who not only listened to her, but also joined her and would then become a part of her stories when she told them to others.
(( Come what may, indeed! Would it...be weird if these two were soulmates? XD Not in a romantic way, but more like good friends/partners? They both like adventure! I think it would be cute. :3 ))

Biffy pursed his lips and held his breath until the smile had gone away. To his relief, he managed to go unnoticed. He glanced at Cadan this time, to make sure his pace was just right, and shifted his look back forward, eventually nodding at her statements. "But don't you feel lonely after that? I mean, having awesome adventures and not getting the chance to share it."
(( That's not very weird at all. xDD And not to regard the romantic part, but. Gold key and gold lock? I say they're destined. xDDD ))

"Well, maybe a little lonely, but it's no big deal! I'm used to going out on my own. I've always done it," she replied eagerly. Sure, Cadan had made friends along the way, but seeing said friends wasn't always easy due to her being constantly on the move. She didn't have a home, or much of a family either, but that was okay. So long as she had herself and the open world to explore, nothing else really mattered.
As they approached a bed of taller grasses, she crouched down low for a moment, wiggled her bottom, and then ran forward, barking and disappearing into the patch of grass. Instantly, a few birds flew up into the sky, having been scared off by Cadan's barking. Giggling, she came out of the thicket and smiled at Biffy. "As long as I can have fun, I'll be just fine!"
