Okay, so I figured it was about time we got one of these threads started up. Here we can discuss all things 'Series 6,' including the Christmas special. As none of this has come out yet, we will be dealing mostly in spoilers. You have been warned. If you don't want to know, I'd suggest not reading further.
Anyway, here you can talk about what you want in the new series, what you think is coming, what you've heard over the internet. Anything, really. Your theories, rumors, hopes. If it pertains to Series 6, then you're good to go. Rumors seem to be all we have, though. The BBC is being very secretive this Series. They recently had their first read-through of Neil Gaiman's episode and for the first time since Tom Baker regenerated into Peter Davison, they collected all of the scripts after the read-through. Whatever's coming, it's big.
I'll add rumors to this post as we get them.
Rumors
- (Not a rumor, this is fact.) The series will be split, with 7 episodes in the Spring and the rest being shown in the Autumn. Moffat says it will actually be two different Series, but I'm not sure he's keeping this idea. It is said that this is because fans will need time to 'emotionally recover' from the events of episode 6 (though there are other obvious reasons.)
- (Fact, not rumor) Neil Gaiman is writing Episode 3.
- One of the episodes is set in Egypt and one in a giant Dollhouse (Could it be the Celestial Toymaker?)
- The 'Silence Will Fall' guy is: --------- Davros --------- Omega --------- The Black Guardian --------- The Emperor Dalek --------- A new villain
- Amy Pond may be killed.
- River will be explained. She: --------- is The Rani --------- is Romana --------- killed the Doctor/the Valeyard --------- killed Captain Jack
- We will finally get to see more of the TARDIS than the console room, possibly in Gaiman's episode, which may be 'TARDIS-heavy.'
- There will be no Daleks in Series 6 (Rassilon, I hope so.)
- Tom Baker will come back as a villain (he has already said he'd love to do so and they had planned to bring him back as Meglos in the Lodger, but choose not to at the last second. Could it be because they're saving him for something bigger?)
- The coolest rumor I've heard: The cracks have to do with Omega. That blew my mind. It would really fit.

Okay, I learned something at DragonCon that really blew my mind. 'River Song' in Mayan is 'Rani.' Could it be coincidence? Sure. But it really makes me hopeful that she's the Rani.
Also, I love the Celestial Toymaker rumor. I would really love to see him again. He was phenomenal in both of his appearances (One being a Big Finish). Seeing him again would be great.

I'm so excited for the sixth season =D and my sister's been saying "I betchya that River Song is Rani!" And I swear she is. Also, have I just been blind of the past 4 series, or are they trying to have New Who tie in with Old who, I mean, they've been showing pictures of all of his regenerations a bit, plus, the old villain in Cold Blood. And I believe there are others.... I'm guessing, though, that I'm just blind.... Plus, I really hope that they could do something like "The three Doctors" they could totally pull it off with just Nine, Ten, and Eleven, but that Nine and BBC would have to make friends again.... But they may be able to with Seven, eight, and maybe even six.... That would be amazing >w<

If she turns out to be Romana, though, I shall be very upset. As for the references back to Old Who, they are definitely there and I love Steven Moffat for putting them in. I mean, you got the flashes of their faces, you got the machine in Vincent than showed One and Two, and William Hartnell library card. Plus there were two other references in the first episode. When the TARDIS is lying on its side that's a reference to Castrovalva. And when Eleven gets naked and then picks out his new clothes that's a reference to Jon Pertwee's first episode. I just love all of these, I really do. And I am really looking forward to a multi-Doctor episode. You know, the 50th anniversary is just around the corner, only a bit over two years away. I'm sure they'll do something big for that. We could have 4 through 11 all together. Everyone of the Doctors has said they'd love to, even 9. He mentioned he'd be willing to do it now that the old crew is gone. And with Time Crash having given a good reason for them to all look older, it should be easy enough to do. It would be phenomenal.

Celestial Toymaker? Yes please. Multi-Doctor story? Even more yes please. 3nodding
I'm actually hoping that River isn't the Rani, or Romana, she's awesome in her own right, she doesn't need to be someone we already met. And we had that twist already with Yana being the Master.
I'm rooting for the Silence being something to do with either Omega or the Black Guardian. Oh, the nerdgasm that would occur should either of them show up. whee

I Doubt River Song is the Rani or Romana. But As for the spilt I have mixed feelings about it. It feels like they are just easeing us in so they can cut the season by half episodes. I really hope I'm wrong on that because that will and would suck majorly.
On another note I do hope Captain Jack comes back I mean he is Steven's character so why the heck not. I want to see him in an episode with River. Also I really hope that romour of someone being killed off in the mid season finaly isn't true, there was already too many killings in season 5...even though they came back to life in the end.

I want need a multi-Doctor special soon. biggrin As for the Black Guardian, I want to punch him in the face. But, he would be a good one to have back. I mean, he hasn't been in any episodes since the Black Guardian trilogy, has he? I haven't seen all of Seven's run, so I'm not too sure. They left it open for him to return. I really really really want the Valeyard to come into play. I love the idea behind his character.

I need one too! And to tell the truth, not enough people die in new who. Not ones that don't come back. I want real death >:C But that does sound horrible.... And I don't want Rory to die, I love that guy. But then again they kinda made it where Amy can survive in the series w/out Rory, but Rory can't, so If anybody dies, it'll probably be Rory... : Or maybe both....

Oh, the Black Guardian. That's a good one, Squirrel. I hadn't even thought of that before. I'd love it if it was him or Omega. I think that's my two big hopes right now. I wouldn't mind it being Davros, but then you'd have to have Daleks, and that I don't want. Not for a good while, at least. We need a break.
As for the split season, Doctor, I'm pretty worried too. I don't really like the idea of an earth-shattering, big, game-changing finale right now. We've had enough of those. I wish we could just enjoy one season that, like the old series, was just fun and ended on an easy, fun note. But no, they have to keep getting bigger and more over-the-top.
And yes, Rose, we do need the Black Guardian back. That would really make my day. He hasn't been seen since the Fifth Doctor and he needs to be. He was also in two Big Finish Audios, the Key 2 Time, but that was it. As for the Valeyard, well, I would lose my mind entirely if they brought him back. He's one of my favorite characters and I really hope they do.
Still, what I'm looking forward to most is the Celestial Toymaker and I'll be absolutely crushed if that rumor turns out to be false. He's a really great character and the Big Finish, The Nightmare Fair, proved that he can be brought back in the modern era and fans still love him. I wouldn't mind that guy, David Bailie, playing him. He did a great job. But if it wasn't Bailie, who do you guys think should play the Toymaker? Any ideas on who would be good at him?
(Too bad Michael Gough's too old to reprise the role. That guy was magnificent as the first one. Not to mention, he was also Alfred from Batman, which makes him doubly awesome. = ) )

Apparently Daniel Mays in going to be in the fourth episode of series six, omigod yay. He was brilliant in Ashes To Ashes which (along with Life On Mars) is second in my heart only to Who. surprised

Okay, here is, potentially, the biggest spoiler I've heard yet. That or the coolest lie that Stephen Moffat has ever told. Either way, it's awesome.
So, to get straight to the point, here are some words right out of the mouth of our beloved Moff.
"A river begins live as a pond."
..... 0_0..... Whoa.
I don't know how I feel about the idea in of itself, but the way he said it was awesome.

I just get this odd feeling that River killed the Doctor somehow but that it was a weird thing where he isn't really dead, he just needs certain people to believe he is and River (His wife) gets jail for it.
IDK, I have no facts to back this up but its what my gut tells me.
