So I'm stuck naming my kingdom that is the main setting for my novel. It's in a Scottish-like land setting, but has a more medieval England feel as far as the laws and such go, that is generally more like the highlands (so colder, mountainous), but it borders a desert Kingdom (called Karnak). It's main exports are generally fish, agriculture, timber, and furs.
Any help?

Goodness, naming kingdoms is always where I get stuck (yeah, I'm not here to actually offer suggestions, just to rant). I want my names to be comparable to the kingdoms in other books, like Rohan and Gondor in LOTR. I shall be keeping tabs on this thread, just in case people mention things here that you're not going to use. Sometimes I even just need filler names, just so I can get through writing.
Good luck with your search!

I generally use mythology terms, just a little altered. I have one story with a kingdom called 'Kyrius', which I got from the term 'Valkyrie'. The name of the other Kingdom I have listed was a real place once, just the Egyptian (or was it Roman) name of it.
I'm just pulling a doozy with this one though! I can't think of anything!
I know what you mean! Rohan is the most epic name evah!

Sometimes I look at Affixes from different countries with their towns but when I'm lazy I use this: Fantasy Name GeneratorIt's made to name fantasy charaters but you can easily tweak them to become names of towns, cities or countries smile Hope this helps!
