YOU'RE ALL PIGS.

Ugh. Sorry, spilling out RL drama here, but JESUS CHRIST ON A BICYCLE. ESCAPISM FTW.

Yeah. That's all.

And of course not all men are pigs. But all the men I know are. What the ********.

... Very expressive.
Personally, I think some people write romance because they feel the need to write about how it should be, not because they think it's wonderful the way it is.

You should get to know better men. They're out there, trust me.

Sorry, though, really. As much as I can be when I've just been called a pig for doing absolutely nothing, in any case. But you took it back, sort of, so I don't quite know how to feel anymore.

You should go on to perfectly exemplify what this kind of thinking has done to an entire generation of men I would otherwise boink!

The proper reaction to a society that enforces the belief that by your very biology you are a misogynist is to become spineless and avoidant of any behavior which could be misconstrued as having an opinion on anything but video games and tax reform.

Also, I read and write romance for the feel-good porn. And everyone sucks.

There's a reason I prefer non-traitional/flexible gender roles. I still don't understand bodice-rippers, but I also don't understand the American focus on pornography either. I guess to each their own.

There's good guys out there. I know a few myself, who are strong and assertive without being overbearing or disrespectful of the women around them. I admire them quite a bit.

And they're all taken. gonk

I don't mind guys being 'pigs'. I always have the ability to just walk away if it bothers me. Now, what pisses me off is the entrenched attitudes of a male-dominated workforce that would like to remain male-dominated... like IT. I actually was treated as an equal by the roughneck 'pigs' out in the refinery more than the guys in the suits at corporate, even if I did have to wear a jacket to keep them from commenting on my boobs.

There is an element of regional social norms there. The 'rough necks' are >generally< from an area where failure to respect the opposite sex is punished immediately, either throw force or social stigma.

In the city, the fairer sex's image is based on the nightclub image that is plastered on our televisions and in pop culture. That image is also considered socially acceptable, and behavior enforcing it are given incentive, in a number of ways.

Unfortunately, the way to fix it is thorough disincentives to continue the behavior, which is hard to implement in our society since the 'rules' are in the hands of men, for the most part, and the men are creatures of the social norm, and so don't have incentive to change it.

I'd rather not get into the normative economics portion of this tangent.

Haha, don't worry. I was just ranting is all. Of course I'm not really sexist like that. But still... ugh. Sometimes it's haaaaarrrddddd to be a womaaaaannnnn...

And yes, romance is definitely "feel-good porn" on its own. It further makes me think that Twilight was written based off a wet dream. Meyer already said it "came to [her] in a dream," so yeah...

Oh well. Nutella sandwiches and Inception at the BFI IMAX made everything better for the moment. =3

It's not a regional thing Fox. Roughneck was slang for any field worker. Office workers are called something else. The refinery I was at was right on the edge of the largest city I've ever lived in. AWESOME nightlife. I loved the clubs. It was also in the same region as the corporate office.

IT is pretty bad across the board. It was better in college when they'd at least be sexist to my face instead of behind my back... and would listen when called on it. I tried that at my job once and the guy got offended.

eh, I'm starting to rant. I really don't want to get going on this, it just makes me angry.
