xxxxxFifteen, they say, is when a lady is in the prime of her life. Powerful, beautiful, and innocent. Fifteen they say, is a lucky year. So far her fifteenth year had come with nothing she thought she should be so excited over. Studying, balls, duties, and servants had become her life for the past two years so that was one thing that dimmed her age. Not that she didn't study and didn't have minor duties from seven to thirteen...but away from the palace, with only her mother, everything was so much simpler.

Everything then had been new. Unlike at the palace, where she had grown to know what to expect. Still, there was beauty here, in grand amounts actually. Just like that male over there with the white silk blouse with gold and red trimmings.

She couldn't help but look out towards him. It would be so easy to bring him closer...

'Bad Dorian,' she berated herself, trying to stop what was supposed to be as natural to her as breathing was to humans.

Unfortunately, her control wasn't as good as it could have been and the male (handsome in his own right by far) seemed to get distracted with what he was doing and looked up. Dorian hid behind a column quickly. Her chest rose and fell from underneath the corset for a moment at the intake of breath that seemed to be a habit she hadn't yet gotten broken out of her.

Still, she could scarcely help the almost girlish curiosity as she peered back around marble blockage. She wasn't sure if she should frown or smile at the delicious looking male figure as he seemed to want to come near her but the rational part of him was fighting against it.

Dorian leaned back so her body was nearly straight. She clasped her hands and pushed her head against the hard tome behind her. Her teeth clenched as her blue eyes closed. Damn...she needed some fresh air.

Lorelei held tight to her knees, successfully creating a ball of herself as she braced herself for some more of her father casting aspersions upon her. It was the only reason he’d ever come to her room. Never had he let a kind word pass through his lips when directed towards his youngest daughter. No, words like ‘hellcat,’ ‘whore,’ ‘harridan,’ had flung themselves from his voicebox when speaking of the young princess.
“You are to remain - ”
“Unseen.” She said in unison with him. Sad that she already had this speech memorized. Sadder still that he hid her away, as though she was some dirty little secret, something that he should be ashamed of.
Her amber eyes rose to stare up at the ceiling, droning out his instructions, tuning out the insults that he somehow always managed to segue in.
“After the antics you pulled today, this treatment is acceptable. I can’t trust you to behave like a young lady in front of our guests. You shame me.”
The siren princess had heard it all before; and somehow, even keeping her from the court did little to halt her pranks, did little to prevent her from the little tricks she liked to play. Though, perhaps the honey on the king’s seat had been a bit too puckish, too bold to play upon her father. But it was no worse than her escapades last week. And all of those had revolved around getting back at her father.
“I’d hate for you to play your little seductive notes to the king of Avarice. To be enticed by a little nine year old whore would be devastating to his pride. And you may as well steer clear of his children; you’ll find no friends in their presence. Viragos such as yourself don’t deserve comrades.”
It must have been an hour that he rambled on, and Lorelei did her best to be attentive. But as soon as he shut her door, the click that she heard, indicating he’d locked her in as a safety measure, caused her to whip back to being alert. She smirked, shaking her head at her father’s sheer stupidity. He could lock that door all he wanted, but he often forgot that her wardrobe connected to the servant’s quarters.
She slithered from her bed, bare feet hitting the cold stone floor before the hem of her skirt covered them from the drafts that the castle had. “You’d think he’d learn.” She said, rather impishly before sneaking out so that she might spy on their guests.
Oh yes, so long as her curiosity didn’t get the best of her, Lorelei wouldn’t speak to them, wouldn’t come into contact with them. But observing the stiffs at court was always a favorite pastime.
And princess Dorian was quite the messmaker herself. Even as she darted behind a banister, she watched, somewhat in awe as Dorian decided to flirt. “This should be good.” Lorelei whispered, snickering as her resin-hued eyes took in the sight.

xxxxxEverything in Dorian shuddered at that moment, like a candle that was about to go out from a breeze only to stand tall once again. Something wicked that way went...or came, or whatever the proper speech term would have meant. It wouldn't have mattered, if she had spoken it aloud no one would say she was wrong because she wouldn't seem wrong to them. She'd make them seem wrong...at least that much she'd inherited in mannerisms. A princess of Avarice never misspoke, she simply created a new style.

The point simply was that something...someone knew was near her. Something similar to her...but not. Cut from fabric in the same room, but not of the same bolt. Designed for the same purpose but in a whole new fashion. Did she have yet another sibling that she was going to meet tonight? By all that was magical that was not a secret she wished to find out as she discovered them.

But it looked like she didn't have to worry about it that long as she heard the tell tell signs of extravagant boot heels 'chsit' on the floor. She looked up, her half mast eyes looking directly at the man as he came to stand before her with his hand out. Putting on a smile to fool the world, Dorian held out her hand and waited till he bowed before she dipped, just slightly. Something she hadn't yet perfected, but hey she was getting there.

Besides the man didn't seem to mind as he introduced himself, smiling in that coy way she'd seen too many others play with. It was a name she didn't care to remember. Honestly she hadn't meant to! The first few times...her father had stepped in...but tonight...tonight she was told she had to deal with the consequences herself.

"How long would you want this party to continue my lady?"

Dorian stilled lightly, her eyes looking up at him. Damn how tall was he? She was five feet three inches...but he stood at least a whole head over her.

"I apologize...but what are you asking of me? I do not, believe this or not, control how long others interact," Dorian pointed out with a smile.

That energy was still distracting her like a plague to her mind. What...was it...? Female...young...but she didn't know what it was. She didn't have enough practice and it was honest to goodness bothering her.

Hairs on the back of her neck rose as she felt him lean down. there was warm breath fanning out by her cheek. She tried to keep something that was inside of her in check since the situation was already a little precarious.

Apparently not well. Because the next moment her lips were covered. Oh sweet energy, he tasted like the dew and had the texture of...well she couldn't quite describe it. It was something you just had to feel. And no, she wasn't talking about just his lips - his energy was so wide open she could feel it slipping into her and putting color on her cheeks.

And she had to admit that this male smelt lovely. Ripe...hers.

'No! No! No!' Dorian told herself, just barely holding back the pout on her face.

She pushed at his chest, twisting her hands out of his as she moved down the shadowed way quickly. Just to get away from him. But he caught her hand and she nearly tripped. Dorian's blue eyes went wide as she sucked in a breath she did not need.

Well damn...getting rid of him was not going to be easy.

Lorelei let out an audible, musical gasp as the taller man bent down to kiss the princess. Such bold behavior would only mark Dorian the whore of this season's court. For a few fleeting moments, it appeared as though this had been just what the heiress to Avarice wanted, a secret tryst in the shadows of Easterly castle, wherein she would lose herself to the romantic passions that the salty air provided so easily.

Lust was a kingdom of desire; few could resist the temptation that the sin offered.

It was why every season, all the women wanted to attend Lust's festivities. It was why the men came. Everyone rightly knew what they'd find within the borders of this kingdom: passion.

And obviously, Lady Dorian was no exception to the rule, else she'd have not found her lips brushing against the shadowy man. But the moment of her wants quickly passed, and Lorelei watched as Doiran forced the man away, pushing at his chest in effort to escape a sultry kiss. She ran; he followed; the siren observed. He had grasped a hold of her, keeping Dorian to him so that he might pick up where they'd so recently left off. But the trepidation of fear froze in Dorian's eyes, and Lorelei made her way out to help the woman without thinking, without realizing just how harshly her father would reprimand her when he found out.

She didn't think, only reacted in a way of instincts. Her voice came out in a soft euphony, her words staccatos in emphasizing her demand for him to release her. "You've forgotten your place, sir. I'm quite certain I saw Lady Dorian release herself from your company." she sang cooly, still not realizing the fullness of her statement, that the music barreling into the air came directly from her voice box.

xxxxxDorian watched, her blue eyes slightly wild but only so in the fact that the irises themselves were seeming to swim in different hues of silvery blue and blue, as a little girl made her way to them. Her red hair made a contrast against her skin in a rather nice way, and her eyes seemed almost too jeweled toned for this kingdom. Or at least, for the humans. And soon the child spoke...wondrous words. So musical, so trained of a voice for such a little kid. At first she thought that perhaps she was part of a choir for this land...

Perhaps a young personal maid, though, for she seemed a bit too finely dressed for a member of a clergy choir. And it was very common for a hand maid to be started early, though not given full duties till they were able to preform them. But who of this kingdom would have such a fine voice for a hand maid?

Dorian wanted to shudder when she pictured the king of this kingdom having such a hand servant. Picked for that voice of hers no doubt...picked a bit too young for Dorian's taste. At least her own father waited for them to be in the time after puberty when the body itself was in mid development to it's full adult form. Though, that wasn't comforting to Dorian as much as she thought it should been. Might have to do with the fact that it kind of described her stage of life at the moment...

Dorian nearly, very so nearly, groaned at that thought and if the man still holding her wrist thought of it as that way too. Honestly, she blamed her father because in this case it really was all his fault that her thoughts weren't quite wholesome or steady.

Besides, she noted with interest, the man seemed absolutely as be-spelled at the child as she had been but a moment prior. And it was truly a wonder when she felt the skin leave her own, leaving the start of a bruise behind. One would think that since her body was supposed to be her tool and didn't function as a human's that it wouldn't be prone to the same afflictions such as bruising. But no...apparently she wasn't at that stage yet. That, that part of her came with time...

Damn her attention was traveling again. Last time she did that she ended up with the man kissing her....

"I am...sorry, but whom do you belong to little girl?" Dorian asked, honest curiosity coloring her voice. "You speak as though in a song made by..."

Did she still believe in angels? Dorian wasn't sure, but she hadn't been disproved yet either.

"Made by the stars and the sea," there, a statement that no one could pick too far over.

Wouldn't daddy be proud?

Lorelei froze in terror. The man would know of her, by the sweet inflections of the aria so easily woven within the air. She had the barest traces of her mother, the soft chin and the small way that her lips tipped upwards would mark her to be of the queen’s line. But this would be the first time that anyone outside of her own family and personal servants that someone had set eyes upon the young princess. Such a vision was strictly forbidden by the King: a siren had no place in his court. As such, she would be rightly hidden away from any prying eyes, lest the b***h ensnare them into slavery.
A sheen of nervous sweat beaded her temples, and she shook her head, fiery tendrils flying and amber eyes wide in fear. She shouldn’t have interfered. No… she shouldn’t have left her quarters, when she knew well that there were many guests populating Easterly’s walls.
“I’m of no one consequential.” The siren stated, wincing as the notes enveloped the two people before her. “Nothing that you should care to mention, or even care to remember.” The last word trilled with her fright at Richard finding out.
Already she knew well that at the very least the man would boast about meeting the secret daughter of Lust, that he’d spied the vision of the troublesome nine-year-old.
It was too late to wipe this from their minds. Music wasn’t so easily erased, and the effects of her symphony were the type to linger.
Her cheeks flushed with a rosy color at Lady Dorian’s compliment. “To be of the sea is an honor of this kingdom that I don’t deserve.” The Lustian society revered the sea – the tumultuous ripples that kissed the banks of their home. “
Her eyes fell upon the man, curiosity speckling the stare as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, trying to remember she should probably make a break for it. Instead, she remained, nibbling on a glossy orange lip so that no more words would weave themselves into the siren’s elders’ consciences.
“I shall beg your pardon,” Lorelei apologized, averting her gaze to the feet of the two people that she’d interrupted. She tried very hard to sound like she’d been trained in the elegant ways of conversing, that she was a proper princess. Now that she had ousted herself, it was best if she didn’t shame her father with bad mannerisms unbecoming of someone in her stature. How many times had she heard her mother say that? “I only saw the trepidations of fear in the lady, and felt compelled to put her at ease, and perhaps halt you, sir, in your brusque demeanor with a Lady in the Court. Surely in the future you’ll remember your place in my father’s court.” Oh great demons below! She hadn’t meant to address the king as her sire, and with such authority, and chastising that was only meant to bark orders. Lorelei never bade anyone to do anything, but in this aspect, the wretch needed to be knocked down a few pegs.
Inevitably, tongues would wag about the princess who was so carefully squirreled away. That she’d corrected a man chasing the heiress to Avarice, that her song had tried to seduce him to forget where his attentions had been just minutes ago. That she was but an imp of a child.
And she would feel the cruel drubbing of her father’s hand.
“However, I bid you adieu. It is much too late for someone my age to be meandering through the halls.” With a quick curtsy, Lorelei turned to leave, head held high. One must keep appearances. She thought miserably before making her way through the corridors back to her own quarters.

User ImageDorian looked at the child as she tried to say she was no one of consequence. While she expected that in Humility, a servant in Lust like that almost seemed out of place. Then again, that was a judgment that was quick to be made. However, the man who had gasped onto her just but moments ago seemed to find no fault in the little girl's words. There was something so...she couldn't name it. But there was definitely more to this little girl than meets the eyes. Damn she needed to figure this out before she drove her curiosity insane.

However, she did have to stop them man from heading out after the little girl. She might have an incubus for a father, but knowing that a full grown man wanting to enter a child's bedroom for reasons that weren't innocent did not sit well with her. At least if she knew about it, she was going to stop it.

Like the fact that he'd just got hit on the back of the neck with a heavy candle holder counted as her good deed to children everywhere for the day.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Dorian sat at the formal dinning table on the second day of the three day long festival as a princess should. Her gown was similar to the one yesterday since the colors were quite common for such activities, but her mood was a little less foolhearty. Once, already, she'd had a close encounter to a situation that she had no wish over. She didn't want to go through pain for a processes that was supposed to be life giving for her, not for the first time.

And she had doubt that her father or "mother" would have tried to stop the situation since...after all...that's one of the things that was needed for her accession. She was just going to try and drag that out for as long as possible. After all, there was always the dreams she could go into and manipulate to get energy from.

Oddly enough, she didn't see the little child at the table or around as a servant.

"My Lord of Lust," Dorian spoke out in a demur to get his attention.

She saw his attention turn to her with a slight look in his eyes that didn't speak much about his character. As though he were judging her, sizing her up, and finding her not as worthy as he was. Was that a male thing in this kingdom? Or was it just a him thing in this kingdom?

"I would inquire over a small girl who had done me a great service the prior day. Would my lord know of whom I can later ask for information over such a girl under your castle? I wish to properly thank her after I offer my congratulations to you having such a well mannered and helpful servant under your magnanimous rule."

---will edit in the before stuffs later ----

Richard's brow knitted in a frustrated confusion as he peered over to the young woman that was merely a guest in his castle for the Lustian Court festivities. To ask a king about servants was unheard of. If anything, though it'd still be altogether improper, she should have asked the queen, Cirsa.

"I would not know the identities of those who are simply hired help in my castle," He said gently, keeping the cross tone out of his voice. "But, that said, you would be privvy to that sort of common sense." Who had she seen? A handsome man who had helped her find her way about Easterly?

"However, I do know those names attending court, if you would so inclined as to describe the young man that you so fancy, I'd be more than obliging in giving you a name to search for him under." Ah, she had forgotten that he was not a simpering fool, but one that knew well of carnal wants and desires.

A succubus would be no different in this aspect, of that he was certain.

User ImageDorian's eyes sparked to life. So she was partially right, it was just a him thing. After all, he'd forgotten that she'd asked him if he'd know of someone who might have information and took it to mean that she was flat out asking him. Well, under such a hand, no wonder the little princess of lust had been so timid. And judging by the fact that she wasn't at the table with them...

Still, without seeming too forceful in a kingdom that was not her own, where the roles of gender weren't the same she couldn't exactly remind him of the question she asked. Though, she supposed, she was still allowed some that others in this kingdom weren't she was still a guest. And despite how self absorbed he almost seemed to be, Dorian was still thankful she'd been allowed to come for the festivities.

"My lord, though your court is gracious and beautiful...no man or woman here holds my fancy. Nor if they ever might, shall I let it come between the nations," She said with a smile, raising her glass a little as though toasting that idea before taking a small, trained sip.

Because wouldn't that be the perfect tool for him to use? A tool for war if she had gotten but one complaint and they or someone near them labeled it an attack. Heaven forbid the first full "meal" actually kill the poor man and they be from another country. She didn't have her fathers or mother's practice and restraint...she wasn't going to test it here.

Her cup lowered, the intricately decorated metal catching some reflections of the area as though it had a mind of its own. "Perhaps, Lord Richard of Lust, you would describe to me what you find intriguing to your own court so that I may learn why you would think someone from it could hold my attention just so."

Though all her wording was innocent enough, as was her tone, the whole thing was a blade. This was one of the games she'd so recently gotten good at. If he said there wasn't much to be humble, then he was insinuating an insult against her. If he spoke too highly to try to avoid it against her, then he insulted the kingdom she was from or might seem boastful. Such a simple game she could play with it because, after all, she didn't know this King. Nor did he know her.

Best of all was when someone tried to call it out as though it were an insult. Especially with the tone of voice she had used. The king might not be from a virtuous kingdom, but even he might have a hard time refuting someone who was using almost a fawning tone without being overly so. Her Mother, the human one, always did say that she always had the town in her hand...even before her abilities kicked in.

Her bright blue eyes were covered for a moment as she lowered her lids, as though to seem humbled for just a moment.

"For if there are any more brave little children within your lord's court like the one who had stepped in for my honor then I would be most grieved not to have heard of the splendid people this court offer the world."

She looked up, an innocent smile and open look in her eyes. Though they were anything but. He was a b*****d for making his child so afraid, she just wasn't going to let him know about something he wasn't admitting to having let her know.

"Right indeed, Lady Dorian. I would be placed in a state of dejection if our swords were to cross over something so silly as a tryst." He said, raising his glass with her own, but as she had made the statement more akin to a toast than a declaration, her goblet was higher so as to not make it a challenge. Already they were treading in murky waters, to muddle it up more over something so trite would be detrimental to their harmonies.

Richard couldn't help but chuckle at the girl's carefully worded queries, knowing fully well that it was a dangerous game she'd put them in. As a good king, he didn't allow the moment to fall into a shroud of intensity. One handled these situations with cordiality, even if they were dealing with a treacherous snake. "It would be rather brusque of me, would you not think, to boast so openly about the wonders of my court?" He asked slyly, keeping his tone gentle enough so that she'd not further press the issue. Richard knew fully well that she was trying to root out some sort of information, but what was the question. Steely eyes cut into her cerulean blue orbs, the question apparent for her to see, though it remained unvocalized.

"My kingdom," Richard continued, "I believe, speaks for itself, Lustian Court is what many wish to attend, desire to see at least once in their lifetimes. Has this place not been to your liking?" Though his voice was threaded with concern, it was a counter to her queries, feigned perfectly. If it was politics she wanted to play, then so be it.

But then she mentioned a child, and ice settled rightly in the pit of his stomach. When had she heard of Lorelei? "Those who are a part of my court are sitting at this table." He said carefully; it wasn't a lie. His youngest daughter was not a part of the festivities; nor would she ever be. She was merely a illegitimate child, Cirsa's mistake.

And every time he stared into that child's dainty features... the ire within him boiled over as he was reminded that his wife, too had fallen victim to their sin.

A man with a velvet laugh spoke then, thinking it the opportune moment to announce that rumors of the child were true. "And what of Princess Lorelei?" He asked, gaiety and triumph parading about his features. "Why is she not a part of the court, where suitors may be able to generate an early interest in her? After all, she'll be of age in a few years, and from what I saw of a haunting child, she will rival her mother's beauty." This was more for those at the table; obviously, he was one of those who he'd spoken about. The tendrils of her aria was enough to linger with him, though the details of chasing after her were hazy. Probably due to Lady Dorian.

Richard's jaw ticked in fury; that name was to be never spoken in court. And Lorelei had strict orders--she was not to be seen. "The siren will remain unattached, and will never be welcome in Court's festivities, where she might pull my guests into her own harem, and leave the fine ladies who had such high hopes for the season without." He stated matter-of-factly. "She will never marry." The decree was solid, despite the fact that he'd never thought of it before. A life of loneliness and being bound to Easterly for all her days would be her punishment. Perhaps, she'd learn to obey. "As such, she will no longer be a topic of conversation at my table."

User ImagexxxxxThe Heiress of Avarice couldn't help but find that one man, that one noble repulsive. To think such of a child to her...it should not be done. It shouldn't be allowed to be done. Siren child or not, Dorian found that some lines should just not morally be crossed. Like secluding your children just because you don't like how they turned up.

Though she supposed the fact that they were both human with a Siren daughter might lend an idea as to why he distained her so...

"I find, my Lord, that it is as pleasing as I expected it to be," Dorian replied smoothly back, to bring the attention back from the blundering fool of a noble. "And I would also like to think that all courts should be equally held as such a desired place to gaze upon, if only but just once. To experience the world thusly, even if it is only in a secluded region on its own right, would be a grand goal indeed."

Alright, so Richard wasn't a complete fool. That was a good thing, something in his favor. He was educated and smooth about it, refined. Didn't make him any less of a d**k though. Even if that estimation was followed by Dorian trying to figure out if it was just a first impression deal and not something she should base her whole opinion off of.

At least if she didn't take into consideration the fact that he apparently didn't approve of this...Lorelei for what she was. Now that was a very hard thing to do...and she found herself unable to resist - after all wasn't she at least half a creature of impulses and desires?

"Though you would not begrudge me to say that I do so miss my home and family," well, that wasn't a complete lie since there were things she missed. "So any splendor I find that reminds me such of home is all the more glorious to my eyes. Your kingdom is a treasure for sure, but I am afraid to say that I have not had the time with the festivities to immerse myself in the subtle ways our court differs. Where one thing is laughed at in my home, it is not pleasant here; and very much the same is true in opposition. Could you ever forgive my errors in understanding for such thing Lord Richard?"

She wouldn't ask him to be her teacher...after all he was much older than she. It just wouldn't be something appropriate to do. Unless he offered it up first but she had a feeling that would take way too much pampering to his vanity. Pampering that she wouldn't want to do. That, and she was pretty sure that the noble man who'd be a might be too forceful the day before might jump at the chance if she even made a motion as to wanting a teacher to learn...

Dorian let her eyes move away from Richard as a man started to bow around and introduce the entertainment for their enjoyment. Apparently it was a well revered entertaining group in Lust, and from the introductions Dorian was actually looking forward to such an entertainment. She did so miss the street troupes back in Cupidité...

"Étrange," slipped passed her lips as she watched the twins start the baton toss, thinking of fitting the word quaint really was for such an act when a man joined in.

It almost looked like the sisters were fighting to be the one to cycle his brightly colored batons back to him, but it was done in such a give and take fluidity that it was obviously practiced. No doubt just there to be entertainment for the adults who got the meaning behind such a story. And possibly just to make the children, or younger people in the room, gasp when they (very obviously trained to do this) nearly missed it and saved it just in time.

"How do your daughters like such performances such as these?" Dorian asked, obviously directing her question at Richard. "By chance would you know where your children are? I have yet to see them at dinner and I did not know if that was by design or by accident."

Okay, so maybe she was just looking at a reason to stop gazing at the man who had just now picked up the small juggling twins onto his broad shoulders as they continued their cat and mouse game.

Though she had been doing her best to stay ignored, the latest jabs against her beloved younger sister had finally snared the attention of the small ten year old sitting near the other end of the table.

Purple eyes lifted from playing with the mouse on her lap and locked onto a new, more interesting target. A quick scan of the plate before her revealed a pleasing discovering. Ammo! Casually as if she hadn't been ignoring the oysters all night, she reached up and grabbed her fork and one of the slimy little missiles...er tidbits.

It wasn't hard really, nobody was paying attention to the young girl in the dusty dinner gown (she'd had to be dragged to dinner from the courtyard where she'd been playing in the dirt with the servants children) who'd actually behaved herself this evening. First mistake. she thought idly as she loaded her fork and took careful aim.

Splat! Splat, splat splat. Four missles, fired in rapid succession, hit the king of Lust. Apparently only the first had taken time to aim. Amethyst eyes swung to meet amethyst eyes one older, and bordering on pissed, one younger and widened in feigned innocence. "Cat," the single word, a warning.

Cat whipped up one arm and swung it without thinking to point at the empty space next to her. Quickly she pointed into the other direction and then growled as she took in her dinner partner. The old noble (one lacking a sense of humor or any imagination at that) was pretty much asleep and obviously not up to any oyster flinging. She shoved the mouse into a pocket she'd had hidden in the folds of her dress and jumped to her feet and took off at a run, tiny legs pumping for the nearest exit.

Richard’s eyebrows knitted ever so slightly at Dorian’s queries about his family. “Lady Dorian.” He said, shaking his head slightly, “A few of my children are here at the table. Cat attends one meal a day with the general assembly, but takes two other meals with just her mother and some of her siblings. Vincent and Micah are away, visiting friends in another kingdom for another fortnight. Eros, is seated not far from you.” He wasn’t particularly fond of his son, who seemed to disagree with all that his sire stood for, but he’d not denounced him just yet. But that was only due to the fact that Micah was not fit to rule Lust. “Generally speaking though, my children sup separately just after their daily lessons.” Except for Cat. Richard rather liked having her around, so he requested that she remain in view at the public dinners for their guests.
“Micah is normally fascinated by the movements of the dance.” He’d speak highly of her here. It wasn’t that he hated her, but she was an anomaly that he didn’t quite know how to deal with. The angelic side of her wasn’t something he could trust in a sinful kingdom. “You may ask Cat what she thinks of the entertainment yourself.” The king said, extending his hand towards his favorite of his children. Lorelei was left out of the picture; he’d meant it when he’d said she’d not be a welcome topic of conversation at his diner table.
But just as he’d said her name, and invited Dorian to speak with her on her own accord, the young princess sent parts of her dinner flying to her father. “Cat.” He warned. She quickly tried to pin the blame on someone else, and Richard shook his head.
Cirsa laid a gentle hand on Richard’s arm, and quietly advised him to remember that she was but a child. Matters on their other children would take place later, in private. The king sighed and waved a hand for one of the servants to deposit her back in her seat, his amethyst eyes conveying a very stern look. “Now Cat, we’ve company, so you’ll need to see this dinner through.”

Cat was almost to the door and the freedom it represented when a servant's hands slipped under the young girls arms and lifted her up off the ground. It took a minute for her legs to process this and as they stopped moving she swiveled her head around to glared at the young man holding her at arms length.

A low growl emitted from her chest as her eyes snapped fire at him. However, he had watched the young woman grow up and knew that her fits were mostly just show. Mostly, which was why he had placed the distance between her and his more delicate body parts. "You suck, Joseph," she informed him darkly as he deposited her into her seat.

He offered her a small smile as he stepped back, eyes dancing. "So sorry, Your Highness."

Cat sank into the seat and crossed her arms, scowling down the length of the table through her eyelashes at her father. "Lorelei is my friend," she ground out placing emphasis on the last word. The color in her cheeks was rising, promising a full blow tantrum, Cat-style if something wasn't done soon to distract her. Which, honestly shouldn't be difficult.
