SVU actress Mariska Hargitay says that she is proud of her size 8 body.
She plays the role of Olivia Benson on Law & Order SVU, and is given the task of solving sex crimes in New York.
“I think I’m a very attractive person, but I don’t put myself in the realm of the beauty…That’s not where I get my esteem,” she says. “I’m a size 8, and I feel proud of that.”
As for her future, it appears that she will be cast in a role in the upcoming Law & Order: Los Angeles series.
“I got to work with them yesterday. They have an incredible cast…I think it’s going to be strong right out of the gate.” Mariska told E! Online.
“We are doing the show about the backlog of untested rape kits. It’s something people don’t know about. After a woman’s been raped and goes through a four- to six-hour very traumatizing and invasive procedure you would expect it gets tested. But often times, most of the times, they sit on a shelf in a police facility. It’s something my foundation is trying to change, to eradicate the backlog.”

In an industry that’s obsessed with not even small, but tiny, Mariska Hargitay says she’s proud of her size 8 figure.
The 46-year-old star of Law & Order: SVU told ShowbizSpy.com, “I think I’m a very attractive person, but I don’t put myself in the realm of the beauty…That’s not where I get my esteem. I’m a size 8, and I feel proud of that, because it’s healthy. I’ve never felt compelled to be a skinny actress.”
In the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU, Hargitay heads to Los Angeles to deal with a rape case based on a real-life case. The episode will air on September 29.
“Being a sex symbol is not my thing,” Hargitay continues. ”It’s not where I shine.”
Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson on the show, runs the Joyful Heart organization, dedicated to helping the real-life victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence

September 7, 2010 -- This weekend, Jayne Mansfield's daughter Mariska Hargitay pronounced, 'Being a sex symbol is not my thing'.
This declaration -- courtesy Showbiz Spy -- is quite ironic, given the Law & Order: SVU star's famous blonde bombshell mom was the quintessential sex symbol. So was her dad, bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay.
With those genes, it's small wonder this popular actress is so attractive. Still, as Mariska told Showbiz Spy said the sex symbol moniker 'is not where I shine...I don't put myself in the realm of the beauty. That’s not where I get my esteem.'
Perhaps not.
After all, Hargitay's acting skills far outweigh any kind of quest for good looks.
So, the size 8 beauty is not obsessed with looking hot. In fact, she's more concerned about mundane matters, like money. This is something that constantly worries this working actress as she explains via Showbiz Spy:
'I make a lot now, but I don’t feel that way, because I was poor and had no money for a lot longer than I’ve had it.?? As an actor, if this show ends next year, then what? As an aging woman, then what? I’m saving money to live on, for the future. There are not that many roles for women, and I’ve been blessed with one of the great ones.'
The actress who plays her is a great one too. In fact, gorgeous woman who contends that 'being a sex symbol is not my thing' would make her mom, Jayne Mansfield, proud. Same with the dad of Mariska Hargitay. Although neither is around Hollywood to celebrate their accomplished daughter who is a hit on TV, they must be somewhere giving their daughter a standing ovation.
