You people know the score. Ever since Evaric's shown up on the scene throwing rocks from the cliffs at Veridian, he's been plotting to conquer the city. Now he has the manpower to do it. 12,000 Hobgoblins and an unknown number of Orcs, Trolls, Ogres, Goblins, and Bugbears are preparing to lay siege to the city. Already a portion of this force, led by Evaric himself and 840 in number, are marching to begin preparations for the siege. If you've seen Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, its gonna be a lot like that. Fortunately for Veridian, they have much more going for them than the defenders of Helm's Deep. A number of powerful warriors and creatures make their homes in the city, and the Ocean provides an escape route the Hobgoblins can not close off. and clever players could possibly devise even better ideas for defending the city.
Perhaps the important thing to remember here is that Hobgoblins are not Orcs. Orcs are the epitome of the Barbarian: cruel, savage and as unpredictable as a raging tornado. on the opposite spectrum are the Hobgoblins, red skinned beastmen that represent organized cruelty. They are disciplined, organized and fight like a proffesional army. Where an orc will gladly engage in single combat and keep hacking until their enemy is dead, Hobgoblins act as units and groups, coordinating and working together in shield walls and formations. This will be a tough fight, as Evaric has many machines designed to break the walls of Veridian, but it will take time. If a successful defense is mounted and Evaric's forces are dealt a severe enough blow, then he will be forced to retreat.

Is it just Veridian, then? What will happen to the outlying farms?

He wants the town. The Farms will probably be sacked and burnt, as well as any mansions that lie outside the town's wall. And no, he won't be sending armies into the swamp. He thinks it unsuited to his goals.
And before anyone asks, yes, I will wait until after the Daywalker Crisis.

Why wait? I said that I didn't care which one got first up, not going to invade right after if this gets first bid either. You've been planning this for a long time so why not go first, I don't mind. 3nodding

Because I want to take the town when they are still reeling from the Vampires and you had your idea up before mine. An ounce of doing is worth a pound of talk, and I've been all talk until now.
