Hektor found a spot low in the grass, waiting patiently for his "prey" to appear, hoping that today it actually would. This was the waterhole where he had first met Hinyari and agreed to escort her into Kutumbakam lands. So he passed this way, near to Kutumbakam lands from time to time hoping to catch a glimpse of her. The blue and yellow male believed she would be accepted into the pride. Hinyari had strength where it counted, a good spirit and sense of humor, once you got past the wariness. In truth she had intrigued Hektor and he wouldn't mind seeing her again. It was a long vigil and eventually he grew bored of staring at the horizon, opting instead to roll onto his side and sun himself. Hektor closed his eyes and rumbled; he just before midday sun felt pleasant against his dark fur.

 She knew that lion, she did! The small suspicion quickly grew into a fully-fledged conviction as the adult lioness moved closer to her blue and yellow target as silently as possible. Her size had reached its full potential but the spotted lioness was still rather small even for a female.
Ari wasn’t sure of what she wanted to do. She was crouching low, feeling the soft warm breeze against her cheeks as she sneaked closer to a lion she’d seen in the distance. A pounce maybe? It was risky to say the least but if she could shout his name before she jumped, perhaps he wouldn’t accidentally hurt her if she ended up startling him. Closer, closer, almost there. Was he awake? Had he noticed her already? Shhh, quiet now. She was feeling quite playful, almost giddy inside. After all, it wasn’t every day she met an old acquaintance.

Hektor wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to anything at the moment. Due to the breeze he hadn't caught her smell just yet, nor heard her. The blue and yellow rolling over back onto his stomach, stretched and yawned widely.
However, he did take notice when the rustle got closer. His ears perked a little, trying to pinpoint the noise but the rest of his demeanor remained the same.

The lioness kept moving closer at a steady pace until she was satisfied with the short distance between the two lions.
Alright this was close enough. She wiggled a little before the pounce like a playful cub who’s not yet familiar with hunting. She broke into a quick run and in an instant she was in the air, claws carefully sheathed and a playful rumble in her throat.
“Hektor!” she called out as loud as she could, a wicked smile adorning her features.

"Hektor!"
The blue male and yellow male's eyes snapped open. Ah ha! There you are! He turned in time to see the lioness leaping at him. "Hinyar-" Hektor grunted, the wind knocked out of him when she landed on him. "-yari...."
"These circumstances seem somewhat familiar...." He chuckled, trying to get his breath back. She had certainly grown somewhat, from what he could recall.
"I was wondering how you've fared lately."

She laughed, pleased that he’d remembered her name but didn’t get off the lion at once.
“Familiar? Oh yes, I remember being a little less successful at sneaking. Did you hear me?“ the spotted lioness’s asked eagerly as her tail lashed out playfully before she finally removed herself from the other. “I’ve been good! Well, sort of good. You? How has the youngest old lion I know been faring?”

"I did, as you moved to pounce. You are certainly getting better." Hektor sat up and finished his stretch that she had caught him in the middle of. He grinned at the spotted lioness and settled himself back on his haunches comfortably.
"Much the same as always, wandering in circles. Not looking for any particular place to go." He was silent for a few moments, while his tail lashed back and forth lazily. "Its funny, I came here looking for you and here you are."
Nevermind how many times you've come here since then, you silly old man.
Hektor had wanted to see a familiar face and she was the closest one nearby. At least that's how he had rationalized it.

The lioness shook the dirt off her coat looking mighty pleased with herself. She happily returned the grin and moved to sit next to the blue and yellow lion, facing the still waters. It was quite pretty, really, and the glimmering surface appeared rather inviting on such warm day.
“Life of a rogue. I miss it sometimes, I admit.” She sighed a little, eyes narrowing languidly and her tail slowly moved to curl around her paws. “Me? Really? Why?”
The lioness’ head tilted so much that it touched her shoulder and she turned to looked at the lion, curiously. Not that she’d forgotten him but Ari didn’t remember having a very memorable encounter the last time around. She didn’t believe herself capable of making a very big impression on anyone really.

"It's nice to see a familiar face sometimes, there aren't many out this way." Hektor looked out toward the water. "Besides, you were good company on our last travel together."
He glanced over at her. "Speaking of that: how did you end up fairing with the Kutumbakam anyway?"

“Mmm. I guess I have to agree. It’s nice to see someone you’ve met before.” Her tail lashed out playfully when he complimented and she smiled, raising a paw to bat at the bigger lion lightly. “Well, you weren’t bad either.”
“Ah, yes… I’m with right now but I have to admit, I’m not sure I’ll stay for long.” She considered her words carefully, finally putting her latest worries into words. “I’ve adjusted well enough but it doesn’t feel like home. I don’t want to leave them just yet, after all they did waste a lot of time teaching me, but soon I guess. I’m very much a pride lioness myself but I really do miss the freedom used to have as a rogue.”
She looked pensive for a few mments before she turned her head to face Hektor with a grin. "And you? Joined any prides recently?"

Hektor shook his head. "Living on the fringes as always. I live well enough that I don't feel the need to worry about a pride. Besides, I think I enjoy the ability to run free a little too much to give it up."
The blue and yellow male's gaze turned back to the surface of the water and he rumbled thoughtfully. "Hmm...well, you could always wander with me a while?" It may seem an odd idea, but it might give her the freedom she wanted while not being entirely alone at the same time.

She was a little shocked by his offer to say the least. Her eyes were wide and full of surprise when he turned to face the blue and yellow lion. And yet… she had to admit it was tempting. To return to the rogue life but with a friend would be a most pleasant compromise. Together they wouldn’t have any trouble hunting and she’d always been a very social creature anyway so Hektor’s company would be most welcomed.
“Are you sure?” she eyed him seriously this time to let know that she really was considering his offer. “I’m not quite so much a burden as I used to be but… we don’t really know each other that well. You wouldn’t mind if I tagged along?”

"I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't serious. Wandering alone is only fun for so long." The blue and yellow male's gaze broke from the water again to return to his companion.
"We have naught to loose by traveling together. If things don't work out then we can part ways. The advantage of being a rogue is not being tied to anything, remember?" He chuckled and rolled over to sun himself again.
Hektor was such a lazy old man sometimes but at least he always listened attentively.

She mulled over his generosity in contemplative silence and her eyes returned to the water’s surface. Yes, it did sound nice. To be free again but with someone by her side to make sure she’d never be lonely.
“I can’t leave suddenly.” She started and, as a way of giving an answer, the spotted lioness slowly leaned against the older lion’s shoulder. “I’ll need a few days to make they’ll be prepared for my absence.”
Still using him for support, the small lioness raised her head meet the lion’s gaze.
“Will you wait for me?”

"Of course, Hinyari." Hektor smiled. "I can wait here however long you need me to." If he was capable of purring, he would've. It was nice to have someone nearby for company after so long. They seemed to fit well together too, at least he thought so; travelling together would be easy.
