Have you ever wanted to create your own slasher flick story? Have you ever wanted to play a part in a slasher flick story? Well, now you can! With my patented roleplay ruleset! What this basically boils down to is a very simple dice game. I created a roleplay using this ruleset a few years back, and speaking from experience, it does work fairly well. Every slasher story needs a body count. And in a roleplay setting, people aren't willing to just let their characters die off. This circumvents that problem by leaving the character's fates to the die rolls. Of course, the creator of the RP plays the killer and crafts the story and setting, but he can also play as a character if he wishes to. So feel free to use these rules and tweak them to your liking if you ever want to create such an RP. I no longer have the time nor the patience to host roleplays, but would take part as a character in any such RP utilizing these kind of game rules as it generally makes for a quick and fun RP.

GAME RULES & CHARACTER FATES

KILLER ENCOUNTERS!

Standard Encounter
The Standard Encounter is the most common encounter that will take place. If you are wounded during this encounter, you must roll again in a Wounded Encounter.

Roll one 8-sided die:

7-8 = The killer loses (You kick him in the nuts and run away.)
5-6 = Run and Hide (You escape the clutches of death, and now you're hiding. But the killer is still stalking... will he find you?)
3-4 = Wounded (The killer has inflicted considerable damage upon you.)
1-2 = Dead (Game Over)

Wounded Encounter
Once you are wounded, you're wounded for the duration of the game. So any Standard Encounters now act as Wounded Encounters.

Roll one 6-sided die:

6 = The killer loses
4-5 = In combat (Re-roll. You're fighting the killer. You're already wounded, so you cannot run. Your only chance is to either defeat the killer or have somebody else come to your rescue; risking their own life to distract him, so that you can get away.)
1-3 = Dead

Cliché Encounter
A Cliché Encounter occurs when your character is caught in the middle of a sin of some sort. (i.e. Having sex, drinking, etc.) It is the hardest encounter to survive.

Roll one 4-sided die:

4 = Escape
1-3 = Dead

Rescue Encounter
A Rescue Encounter occurs when you notice your friend is in danger, and you attempt to save them. It can be performed just after said friend makes and fails his/her Killer Encounter dice roll.

Roll one 4-sided die:

4 = The killer loses (Congratulations, hero. You saved the day, and now you and your pal can both get away.)
3 = In combat (Congratulations. You bought your friend enough time to get away. But now the killer is your problem.)
1-2 = Dead (Congratulations. You're dead.)

Stalking Mode ((Killer's Roll))
This roll is for the killer. In the case of a Standard Encounter, if you roll a 5-6, you're in hiding and the killer is searching for you.

Roll one 8-sided die:

1-4 = Escape (The killer fails to find your hiding place, and slowly wanders off.)
5-8 = FOUND YOU! (The killer has found your hiding space. You now have to roll again as if it where a Wounded Encounter.)

WEAPON EFFECTS!

((Weapons such as these may come into play if you wish))

Louisville Slugger
User Image

Adds a +1 to any Killer Encounter die roll result.

Chainsaw
User Image

Adds a +2 to any Killer Encounter die roll result. (Low on gas: 4, 3 uses only.)
The chainsaw is very loud when it is running. So on the result of a 5-6 on a Standard Encounter, you cannot hide. You are still in combat with the killer, and must roll for another Standard Encounter.

Remington (12 gauge) Shotgun
User Image

Adds a +3 to any Killer Encounter die roll. (Ammo Count: 6 shells)
Shotgun blasts tend to disperse in a wide spray. Therefore, in the case of a Rescue Encounter, if you roll a 1 on the die, the shotgun spray will hit and wound your friend. If your friend is already wounded, they will be killed by the blast.

How do I roll dice?

When you post a reply to a subject, you will see a little bar to your right that is labeled "Post Action". Click the drop-down arrow, select the die size you will be using, and the number of dice you will be rolling. Then post.

How do I go about posting and rolling dice?

I will now briefly demonstrate how to go about a Standard Killer Encounter. Let's just say you have your character leave the room for a second to go grab something...

Lenny's Post: Lenny walked out to the van to grab a couple more beers...

Killer's Post: BOO! The killer pops out of the van and makes an attempt to grab Lenny.

((Standard Encounter)) <------ When ever there's a killer encounter, the person who is playing the killer should post what type of encounter the character is to roll for in these brackets below the post.
Thee Stranger rolled 1 8-sided dice: 5 Total: 5 (1-8)

Lenny's Post: EEEEEK! ((Roll your dice here. Since this is a standard encounter, you will roll one 8-sided die. The result was a 5, meaning the character escapes into hiding and then the killer goes into the Stalking Phase. But let's just say the result was a 2. So Lenny is killed. The killer will then post exactly how he was slaughtered. If Lenny had defeated the killer, he would get to post exactly how he fended him off.))

Killer's Post: The killer grabbed Lenny, lifted him straight up into the air, and slammed him down on the pointy edge of the car door, impaling him on it. Blah, blah. Something like that. And if you wish, you can post your character's screams and death throws. But that will be your last post as that character.

How Do Rescue Encounters Work?

A Rescue Encounter occurs when you notice your friend is in danger and you attempt to save them. It can be performed just after said friend makes his/her Killer Encounter dice roll. Performing a Rescue Encounter automatically cancels out the result that your friend just rolled. However, you must be in the general vicinity of your friend! That means that you can't just teleport your character over there to help. On the result of a 1-2, you are killed, and your friend doesn't have sufficient time to escape. Therefore, it automatically acts as a Run and Hide, and the killer pursues your friend in Stalking Mode accordingly. On the result of a 3, you are in combat with the killer, and must roll again as if it were a Wounded Encounter. Your friend can either run away and escape here, or stick around in case they want to perform a Rescue Encounter for you. However, if you were initially killed in the Rescue Encounter attempt, your friend CANNOT attempt one on you. You are DEAD. They must run and hide. Wounded characters cannot perform Rescue Encounters.

Tips

If you're going to create a roleplay like this, I suggest creating premade character profiles to ensure every stereotypical character archetype is represented in some way... or just to incorporate the characters you envision within this storyline. You can also give these premade characters unique special abilities that affect the dice rolls to give more incentive for people to play as them. As a player, make sure you stay true to the premade's intended character-type. As the RP creator, it is probably best that you play at least one character in addition to the killer. I also advise the RP creator to not reveal the killer's appearence or identity right off, as a little mystery is always fun for the players. I'll also post the link to the original RP I created this ruleset for, for any future reference. Hope someone out there might be able to get some fun out of this. Peace.
