We all have fears. Lord knows, I have a whole ton of them. For me, one of my biggest fears has always been driving. I'm in my early twenties and only just now got my learner's permit. (Like, literally, today.)
I don't think I could have gotten over it without God's help, or the help of my good, christian friends. I think God sends us good friends like that to help push us in the direction he wants us to go in.
So, what I'm wondering is, what are some fears that ya'll have overcome? How did you get through them? Are there any particular Bible verses that helped you while you were overcoming those fears?

There's a Time to Laugh "Ephesians 2: 8-9"
My fears consist mostly of financial issues and what the future has in store for my life. Though I have gotten a lot better and now they are just mere concerns. I have learned to give God the control and I do my best to trust his will and timing for my life.
How I overcame these issues is by working through the ministry called Celebrate Recovery (for my codependency, trust, and anger problems). That, reading the bible, and prayer have brought me much farther than I could have ever imagined God would bring me!
the scriptures that help me best are these:
Matthew 6:25-27 " 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body; what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important that clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Matthew 6:34 "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of it's own."
congrats on your learner's permit! I hope you the very best in driving!
And a Time to Cry "Romans 5: 3-5"

Thank you very much. : ) I'm not really sure why I was so afraid to get it. I think it's just something the enemy tries to get us with so he can hold us back from all that God has for us.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. : ) I like those verses a lot as well. They help me when I start to freak out over minor things.
I'm so grateful that God takes care of us. I honestly don't know how people make it without him. I don't think I could make it through my life without his help.

I know for certain that without God I would be dead and if not dead I would be far from healthy in mind, body, and soul.
God's will for my life is totally amazing and when I give him all my fears and worries he turns them into my strong points. He uses my weaknesses to reach out to other people or to open my eyes to the fact that God is amazingly powerful and he is using me to help further his Kingdom.

I share your fear of driving. My parents had to push me to get my permit and then my license. I have seen how people drive and it scared me. And I was in an accident at summer camp (not involving cars) which involved my spine being fractured. So getting re-injured is a big fear of mine.
I'm okay with it now, for the most part. I was not paralyzed, thank God so much. And through that storm, though I was not a Christian at the time, I knew I wasn't alone in what I was going through. I hold onto that knowledge. If anything were to happen to me, God would be right there with me again.
I really like this verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall make your paths straight."

I like that verse. : ) It's very good for overcoming fears. I also like 'For if my God is with me, whom then shall I fear'? I think I've also changed it up in my head to say 'what then shall I fear'. It's part of a song...but I think it's in the Bible as well, I just don't remember where.

I also am afraid to drive. My older sister just got her permit and My parents want me to get mine when I turn 16 (I'm only 14) but after the car accident my parents and I got in when I was 6, Ive been afraid to sit in the front seat of a car.
But the fear I am tackling currently is my fear of being alone. During the sixth grade, I wasnt exactly the most liked person. In the end the one person I thought was my friend had been pretending the whole time. Ever since then I have become very guarded about who I make friends with, and have become very clingy to the friends I do make. But I know that god is with me at all times and he will never leave me, therefore I am never alone. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for thou art with me.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. Fear comes from the Devil, or that is how I see it. Fear is the Devil trying to hold you back. God doesn't give us fear, he give us love, power and judgment.
