a city in Kanto. Situated near a sea inlet to the south, it contains a popular sea port. Vermilion Harbor is a home port for many ships. The S.S. Anne sails around the world and returns to Vermilion once a year. The S.S. Aqua sails from Olivine City in Johto to Vermilion Harbor. The ten Seagallop Ferries sail regularly to all of the Sevii Islands. Aside from the Harbor, the other exits to the city are Route 11 and Diglett's Cave to the east. North of the city is Route 6.
The city is also home to the Vermilion City Gym, and it's leader Lt. Surge.

Roland stepped onto the dock for the first time in a year, his Glaceon following behind him. She refused now to stay in the Poke Ball, and he actually enjoyed having her outside with him. It was nice to be back on the continent, and he had much to do. He had told Professor Oak that he would stop by after the trip. He had more sketches, measurement, and pictures of Pokemon that he had seen, and he knew the professor would want to see them.
He was also looking forward to heading back to Snowpoint. It was the first time in almost 6 years that he was heading back to his hometown. But not for long. He wanted to head home for a while and get things organized again. A few years ago, he was finally able to afford a small house near Hearthome City, and he kept all of his information there.
But the first place he would need to stop was the Pokemon Center. That was the trouble with not keeping his Pidgeot with him.

Belinda was merely passing through this city, but she hadn't figured out where she woud be going yet. She had never regreted what she had done, but still, being on the move all the time was very tiring. It was her fear that if she settled down somewhere that team rocket would eventually find her.... it was almost guaranteed. Ariadne followed close behind her, with her mouthpieces clicking. Most people would avoid a giant spider if they had the choice, and this suited her just fine. She really didn't want to talk to anyone today anyway.
After stocking up on supplies and the store, she made her way to the Pokemon Center. If she where going to go far away she wanted her pokemon to be rested at least. She took very good care of them all, and they took care of her in return. They where her only friends that she had in the world.
When she got to the Pokemon center, she saw that there was a line of people waiting for their pokemon to be healed. That wasn't that much of a problem to her, she could wait for a few minutes.

As Roland reached the end of the dock, he noticed a familiar face waiting for him there. "Hello, Professor. Did you get a little anxious for my information and decide to come here to get it." Roland said to Oak.
"Oh, it's nothing like that. I was in the area visiting an old friend and thought I should stop by here. That's when I saw the ship in the harbor." Oak said.
"Alright. At least this saves me a trip and gets you the info earlier." Roland said, handing Oak a large book. "Here's your copy. I made sure to record all the strange pokemon and interesting measurements I saw while I was out."
Oak looked through the book for a bit. "You always seem to take pride in the small details. All of this information should help me very well." He looked at his watch, "Good Heavens, is that really the time? I must be going. I look forward to your next visit." With that, Oak left Roland there on the dock.
"Alright, time to get Pidgeot and get going." Roland thought. He went straight to the Pokemon Center. It was fairly packed for the time of day. "Must be people from the S.S. Anne, getting there partners healed after last minute battles." When he noticed the computer occupied as well, he decided it best to just wait here.

Roland around at the people. It was the basic mix of kids coming here from challenging Lt. Surge, adults obsessed with certain Pokemon, and people coming here from the ships. The girl in the back seemed to stand out a little from them. Roland just felt like she had some strange story.
Roland made his way over. He tried to notice little details about her, something to start a conversation over. Then he noticed a strange marking on her wrist. It looked like some sort of letter, big and red. It was either a capital B, P, or R. That last one was what caught him. He had seen many members of Team Rocket before, but most of them wore the red "R" with pride. She seemed to hide it from site. This intrigued him to no end. Was she a former member? Was she kicked out of the group, or did she leave?
Unfortunately, Roland forgot to stop starring at the girls arm while thinking. He just let his mind wander off.

Ariadne seemed to be pulling at her leg for some reason. She didn't know why, until she noticed the man staring at her.....wrist. Belinda's sleeve had been pushed up a little, by what she didn't know. The point was, part of her tattoo was clearly visible and this man was staring at it.
Suddenly Belinda became very nervous. If he called her out as a member of team rocket in this crowded place, there was no way she would make it out without being stopped or ever arrested. And if she where arrested, her former team members would hear about it. And then they would come for her...
Belinda didn't like to have to threaten the man, but it seemed like the only option at the moment. She was afraid. She walked up next to him and spoke to him in a voice that only he could hear.
"Look, I don't know who you are, or if someone sent you, but if you try anything then things won't work out so well for you. All I want to do is get in and out of here without any trouble.... I promise."

Roland snapped out of his thought trance when the girl spoke.
"I'm sorry. I just caught a glimpse of you tattoo. I was thinking of what kind of interesting story it might have attached to it. Forgive me for my rudeness." He offered his hand out, "My name is Roland. I'm... you might call me a Pokemon watcher. But that also made me into somewhat of a people watcher. I meant no disrespect and wish to cause you no trouble."

Belinda was a bit surprised about that face that this man replied to her threats with a greeting... maybe he didn't mean any harm to her after all. It made her feel slightly guilty that she had even threatened him in the first place.
"Yes, sorry.... I can never bee to careful. You're right when you assume that I have a story. The story is: There are too many people out for my head and I can't trust anyone. Well, hardly anyone."
She was still slightly wary of this man, but shook his hand anyway. "You can call me Linda."
She didn't want to have the attention of the conversation aimed at her anymore. It made her nervous. "Pokemon watcher? So, you don't even catch wild pokemon most of the time, just watch them? What is the point in that?"
The line was slowly getting shorter, not nearly fast enough for Belinda's liking.

"The point." Roland said. He quickly reached into his bag and pulled out a small leather bound book. "Pokemon can sense weather you are a threat. It's why ones such as Abra run away from people." He flipped through the book for a bit and stopped at a page somewhere near the middle. "You show no threatening nature to them, and even the most powerful ones will let you near them." He showed her the book.
On the page was a detailed drawing of Suicune. There were various measurements around it, and details that would be nearly impossible to get.
"If a Pokemon trusts you, or if you respect it, great things can happen. That's how I got my Glaceon here."
Roland got quiet for a second. suddenly he changed subjects.
"You said that there are too many people after your head. I know that they won't look for you in the Sinnoh region. I was just heading there to Snowpoint City, and it would be nice to have some company." He said with a smile.

Belinda was amazed by the detailed drawing.. she had only heard of the legends about that pokemon. She had never seen it in person... or any other legendary pokemon for that matter. Needless to say, she was curious. In her Rocket days she might have been driven to find it and possibly capture it... but not anymore.
"Shinnoh.... Yes, that would be much safer for my Pokemon and I. You honestly wouldn't mind me coming with you, even with what you know about me?"
She found that to be a little hard to believe. Usually, if someone knew this much about her they would be running the other way. Most people thought that she would steal their things from them, or worse, their pokemon. She had no desire to steal pokemon any more. After she had left Team Rocket she had realized that it was the power and sense of accomplishment that she liked, not the stealing itself.
"I guess that I could get used to the cold after a while. Even being cold is better than being on the run all the time...."

Roland got a confused look on his face for a second.
"Why should something you did in your past be held against you? It's not like you killed someone. You were a member of a group, albeit a somewhat unsavory group."
He looked at his the Pokeballs that carried his team. "My Pokemon don't hold the fact that I once made them fight against me. Why should I hold someone's past against them?"
He noticed that the PC was unoccupied. "I'll be right back. I need to get my Pidgeot so I can fly out of here. Only Pokemon I have as transportation is my Gyarados, and riding him all the way to Sinnoh seems insane." With that, Roland ran to the computer.
Roland returned a short time later. "By the way, Sinnoh shouldn't be that cold. It's only just starting into fall, after all. And we won't be in Snowpoint very long. I just thought I should visit my family."

Belinda chuckled, he just didn't understand. Even though she tried not to let her past define her, it kept on creeping back to haunt her. She had been so stupid back then... But she had no regrets about what she had done against Team Rocket.
"Because Team Rocket holds grudges for a very long time, and I stole quite a bit....from them. Not only did one of their most promising young members suddenly leave, but took a bunch of money and things with them as well."
Why was she telling him these things? He was the first person outside of Team Rocket to know this now. Was this a good or a bad thing? Well, she would just have to wait and see.
She got to the front of the line, and after a few seconds, her pokemon where all rested.
"Oh, that's good then. Gives me time to adjust." I'll need time to adjust... if I to stay there for more than a week. "Well, we could fly there. i don't know the way, so I'd have to follow you."

"Alright, I'll lead the way." Roland said, walking towards the exit. "And there's no worrying about Team Rocket in Sinnoh.... Only Team Galactic."
Roland tossed down one of his Pokeballs. It opened, and a surprisingly large Pidgeot appeared.

Belinda chuckled as she followed him out. "Oh, those jokers? They'll be no trouble to me.... compared to Team Rocket they're just a baby organization."
Belinda selected a pokeball from her belt, and her Skarmory came from it. "Alright, Icarus, we're got a long way to fly. I'll have some nice treats for you when we get there. We'll follow them."
"Skaaaaaaaar!" Icarus seemed to be excited.
"Alright, let's get going. You never know when Team Rocket will show up..."
((Should we move to Snowpoint then?))

"Alright, lets get going." Roland climbed onto the Pidgeot's back. "Lets go!"
With that, the Pidgeot took off into the sky.
