OKEY! you wanted the tutorial and now you got it.
I suck at explaining so if I fail at it just ask me for help o3o I will try to help the best I can.

I made a halloween version (for fun) and this is how the end result was (with my little sister as model) :

tips :

- Buy cheap fabric for the first time doing this. even cheap fabric can be nice. I used cheap "on sale" fabric =3 that way you wont watse money if you do anything wrong.

- Buy enough fabric so you're sure you got enough. It sucks finding out you're just a few inches short.

- No need to rush it. It's better to take your time and get it right then rush it and do it wrong.

OKEY LET'S START!

things you will need :

sewingmachine
big pieces of preferably thin paper
thread
2 kinds of fabrics
needles

1. make several sketches of how big and how you want the bag to look like. Round, square etc. Also decide the length and such

2. now you make the patterns in paper. That will more or less mean that you draw and cut out the sizes of the pieces you want from the fabric on paper first. you don't need the whole length on the strap. If you have half the length on the paper you can put it against the fold on the fabric. that way you save fabric too.

Also; don't forget to add space for where you're gonna sew. ok?
I have 1cm but idk how other would use measurements with sewingmachines.

3. now you're gonna place the paper-patterns on the fabric with needles. If you're using fabric where you see where the treads in it goes, make sure your fabric is paralel edge to edge.

User Image

then you place the strap and purse on the fold and keeps them there with needles. when you now cut with the strap in half length, when you fold the fabric out it will have twice the length. see?
And you need to cut up the fold with the purse parts because you need to seperate pieces with the outside colour. one for front and one for back. And you need 2 pieces of the inside colour of the bag.

4. Iron the pieces so they turn straight and flat.

User Image

5. Now fold the strap so it's thinner. Place needles on the side so it stays that way. Then sew a straight line ONLY on the side that's now open.

6. Turn the strap inside out and it's done until you're putting the bag together. ta-da =3 now Iron it flat with the sewing line in the middle and place it to the side for now. All flat and nice

7. Overlock (sew zik-zak over the edge of the fabric piece) around the 4 pieces. that way the fabric wont get ruined or split up.

since I used threads that had the same colour as the fabric it was EXTREMELY hard to get it clear on a picture.

User Image

8. If you got an application (a piece of decoration fabric you want sewn on) then iron it on with aplication-paper. it will glue it on and keep it flat on the fabric for when you zik-zak sew it on. If you don't have the aplication-paper then try keeping it on with needles. I forgot to use the paper xD

User Image

9. sew the outside pieces together and then do the same with the inside fabric. MAKE SURE THAT YOU GOT THE LIGHT SIDE OF YOUR FABRIC OUTSIDE WHEN YOU SEW! OR ELSE YOU WILL SEW IT WRONG! RIGHT AGAINST RIGHT! got it? for fabrics that looks the same on both sides ; sew on whatever side you want. DO NOT SEW THE TOP TOGETHER! or else you wont be able to open it.

User ImageUser Image

now you have 2 seperate "bags". This is the tricky part....putting it together!

10. This is a tricky one...

turn the outside fabric inside out and place it inside the other fabric you want on the inside. so it will look like this :

User Image

11. place the strap carefully between the inside and outside fabric. make sure it wont be twisted. then take the ends of the trap and point the sewing line on it outwards.

User Image

12. keep it all together with needles. When you now sew around the edges REMEMBER to keep a space open. Which means you wont sew ALL the way around. Cus you're gonna turn this inside out. ok?
Keep the space big enough for you to take your hand inside.

13. now turn it inside out carefully. It will look something like this :

User Image

13. Now we can't just have that whole open now can we? turn the inside fabric inside the outside so it's where it's suppose to be. Turn the whole inside so it looks like the rest of the top line and keep the entire top together with needles so it's almost flat there.

User Image

13. now sew a straight line around the purse on the top. This will make the whole close (because it will be sewed together) and keep the purse flat and nice. If you happen to miss the whole because you sewed too low, don't worry. just sew again a little higher up. I had to

User Image

Now you're done. I hope this wasn't too complicated. If you decide to make a bag like this ; please take a picture of your end result so I can see how you did it =3
