I had originally got my rats from a friend of mine. Then I went back and wanted another one from the same litter. There was a runt that seemed very attached to me. I took him home. He moves like a healthy rat but, I found that his butt area was unclean which rats are clean animals. And he had a sore on his right genital. I was a little concerned so the previous owner told me that he had wet tail. He is really small and fragile but seems very active. He had so many brothers he was easily trampled on and now since he has only 2 to play with he seems good. I just got him 2 days ago and the other rats accepted him. They sniffed each others butts to say hello kinda like dogs. lol

I just added a new addition to my rats (after the runt) and every time I pet him, he squeaks. He sounds like he is screaming. Its so funny. I put him on my bf's shoulder and I kept petting him and he squeaked like crazy >.< My bf was all like "will you stop petting him" hee hee it was so fun bc he squeaked in his ear.
Lately he is getting use to me and so he doesn't squeak as much. He is settling down. But he is so cute >.<

Wet tail? I've never heard of this, what is it?
I'm so sorry for your loss. sad It's always sad to lose a rattie, specially when you think they're doing so well.
Your new rattie does sound adorable. smile The squeaking this is a very cute quirk. Best of luck with this one and your others of course. What's the new one look like?

I would be concerned about the squeaking.
Rats are not very vocal, squeaking usually means something is wrong.
The only time my rats ever squeak, is when they get into little scuffles.
If he is squeaking every time you pet him he may be frightened, as you said he is new.
I would really work on getting him to trust you, and feel comfortable. Don't force him out of the cage, let him come to you, reward him with treats.

Yeah, but when you reward your rat with little treaties be sure not to give the treat or any edible object through the bars of the cage, unless you own an aquiriam. Sorry for your death it's always sad when your ratties pass. RIP emo

wet tail is a form of diahreah, only in small rodents. My pet hamster that i owned when i was little died of wet tail too. Its really gross becuase clumps of fecies get stuck to their bum's.
