Hey guys, I just got back into running again and I must say .. I'm OUTTA SHAPE. Lol.

I ran a mile today in 7:53 when I used to do it under 7 minutes and sometimes under 6 minutes.

My overall goal in say .. maybe 3 months is to be able to run 4 miles under 32 minutes. Far from impossible, but I'm the "average" runner so it's still a hefty goal.

You guys got any tips from personal experience on how to reach my goal as efficiently as possible?

I'm starting this up again because I'm gonna sign up for another Muay Thai class .. I don't wanna die in the class from lack of cardio training.

EDIT - October 01, 2010:

Ran 4 miles in 37 minutes and 42 seconds. Got a long way to go.

This is a good way to up your cardio:

* Station 1: Burpees (Up and Downs) 30 seconds
* Station 2: Jump Rope 30 seconds
* Station 3: Sprawl 30 Seconds
* Station 4: Intense Jab Cross Combos 30 seconds

Rest

* Station 5: Sprawl to Double Takedown Exercise 30 Seconds
* Station 6: Ground and Pound bag 30 Seconds
* Station 7: Pushups 30 Seconds
* Station 8: Jumping Squats 30 Seconds

Rest - Repeat 2 more times

You may need a partner unless you got a heavy bag for the sprawl to double takedown. I would say run in the morning do this sometime midday then I would run again in the evening. The more your cardio goes up the longer you can run and more oxygen also means more muscle stamina so yea. Also if it gets too easy just up the time for each station 30 seconds.

I really appreciate this, Zack. Have you tried this circuit type training before?

Thanks again, I'm gonna try it out when I get home. Currently at the library.

yea i've gone through it before. its great for cardio but you can change it up as you wish. like maybe instead of the sprawl to takedown do 30 secs of suicides

Done.

4 miles in 31 minutes and 42 seconds. Took me about 3 months of hard training lol. I wanted to be able to get it before 2010 ended, but I just got my pushed run today.

If anybody wants specifics on how I built up to it each day, be sure to drop me a PM or just reply to this message.

I know there are people who do it way faster, but I'm just so proud of myself. rofl
