So Saturday was our annual apple festival in town so i purchased a substantial amount of apples and 5 gallons of apple cider. I then took my cider and immediately began the process of turning it into booze!!!!!! My cider is now sitting in a 5 gallon glass carboy fermenting with about 1.5 packs worth of champagne yeast and 2 pounds of extra sugar so that the yeast makes lots and lots of alcohol for me. I also added a yeast nutrient so they can thrive in the acidic cider environment until they have appropriately adapted. Now i must wait 2 weeks for the first fermentation to finish, followed by another 2 weeks of second fermentation followed by a bit of aging so its not so strong in the alcohol taste department. some recipes say 2 weeks of aging, some say a year so i don't know how it will go...i suppose i'll taste it here and there every couple weeks till i find it delicious.

There will be pics...and updates about its status...and when it's done i'll inform random people of what proof it is...after they drink it.

Very possibly might end up living in the woods lol. I was actually looking at a piece of property about 3 hours away from here that looks incredible. I was in the town to pick up some rabbits i had ordered from an amish guy named Moses. Not a lot of places to rent or anything like that up there but its gorgeous country and i'd love to live there some day. Fantastic pieces of property around 100-200 acre's for less than what a 1/4 acre lot costs in my city. Utilities all ran and what not but i'd have to build the house...which sucks but whatevs. Some day in a few years i'd like to take a leap of faith and move to the country.

I am fortunate enough to incredibly rock hard teeth that refuses to accept cavities or fall out lol. The rest of my family is not so fortunate though.

My husband want to get more ground then what we have now. I told him to stop spending money, get rid of everything, and save save save. Because it's going to cost a lot to buy the ground and then to have to put a house on it is going to take even more money

I know...it suxors. I'm actually tempted to sell my tv, computer, xbox, all that jazz. Just to be able to start making knives again and potentially get out of my current line of work faster. I've come to realize the only way i'll ever get to move out into the country is if i get my business going and just save save save until i can afford it. My best option seems to be buying a large empty piece of property and then just building the house...and i'm looking at Kodiak steel homes for that because the kit can be fully assembled and whatnot without a massive crew of people and construction workers. I totally figure me and my friends could probably do it ourselves in a couple weeks time.

The weird thing is i want to move all my friends with me as long as a couple of my acre's are zoned appropriately to build a house on i figure i'll just build a main house and a couple of smaller houses on the property for friends and family and whatnots. Dreams are expensive though lol. I do know that the self assemble steel houses seem fairly inexpensive compared to traditional buildings.

Yeah, I told my husband maybe he might have to move us in with his parents to save money if he's really serious. Lol, not that I would.

Its nice that he wants to get some more land but yeah...moving back in with parents in order to save the required amount of money sucks. Hell i only lived on my own for 3 years and ended up moving home due to the whole job loss thing and its laaaaameeeeee.

Agreed, but if you really want something then you must suffer and sacrifice to get what you need in the end.

Unfortunately true s**t.

(i've noticed over the years of being on gaia that i no longer care about grammar half as much as i did when i was a young whipper snapper...and i swear an excessive amount now)

lol, that's funny. I don't mind most grammatical errors as long as you can understand someone. Texting drives me crazy with some people because they shorten their words and they are the only ones who can understand it.
