I was just wondering if there is anything wrong with doing this. I have a woodland looking toy bow and arrow set I was planning on using the represent Artemis in a ritual I plan to preform soon.

The bow looks the part of Artemis quite well but it is made of plastic and doesn't actually function. I figured as far as symbolism goes it should be fine, but I don't know if it is wrong to use such an artificial substance as plastic in a ritual.

Does anyone have advice for me here?

With ritual, intent is the main thing. I heard of an "Inner Child" ritual once where bubbles were blown and super-soakers were used so I think use of a modern substance like plastic would be fine.
So much of witchery uses ordinary kitchen items and homemade things....I would almost venture that ordinary and relatively crude altar tools are actually better.

that is about what I thought. I think I just needed someone else to tell me.

When I said this ritual would be my first that isn't entirely true. This is the first one that I will have run but I actually did participate in one once before. I had forgotten that I took part in a ritual honoring Loki that a friend of mine wanted to run. In it everyone drank some ritual wine, but since I don't drink alcohol he instead blessed a bottle of cherry 7up for me to drink. I think the ritual wine was cherry flavored to. So I guess if a soft drink is ok for a ritual then a plastic toy bow and arrow set couldn't be much worse then that. smile
