I haven't been posting in this guild lately so I thought, "Why not try to make it up to everybody?! With puzzles and prizes! biggrin "

So. In the next post, I'll put a few puzzles down. Figure em' out, win a small prize. Depending on the puzzle, prizes will range from 1-20k. Prizes will be awarded in pure only. I don't want to buy an item and have it sitting in my inventory for all eternity. ._.

I'm not good with coming up with riddles.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:57 pm

Me neither. xP Thank gawd for books and internets.

Here's a fun one: If Pinocchio said, "My nose is going to grow!" What would happen?

If anyone can give me a logical, not completely stupid answer to this question, I'll give you 50k...

This one too: "This statement is false."

For the Pinocchio one,

He said his nose was going to grow. He did not say when. So his statement would be true if he was going to lie later. If it was false his nose would grow, but it would make his statement true.

This statement is false. It can't be true or false. If it was true, then the statement would be a lie which would be false. It can't be false because if it was the statement would then become true.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:05 pm

If it is true, then his nose would not grow. But then if his nose did not grow, then he would be lying, which in turn would make his nose grow. The cycle would then repeat. So the question is, "What would happen?" Would his nose grow or not?

So is the statement true or false?

He did not say when his nose was going to grow though. He could lie later and that would cause his nose to grow, making his statement true.

The statement is neither true, nor false.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:11 pm

That's the point. If he were to lie. Any time throughout his life, then his nose would grow. And since he did not specify when it would grow, when he did lie, his nose would then grow, making said statement true. Thus making his nose not grow.

Then what is it? o0

His nose would grow from the lie that he told later in life. His statement would be true.

The sentence, "This statement is false." is what's known as a paradox.
