Furling February!
- Welcome to the Alpha Site's February contest: Furling February!
Feb. 11
Added 1k to each winner's prize.
As we all know, the Furlings are the most mysterious race in the Stargate universe. There are only three episodes that make mention of them, leaving us with only the knowledge that they were (are?) as powerful as the Asgard, the Nox, and the Ancients. No one knows if they still exist, what happened to them, or even what they looked like- not their physical features or their clothing. All of that has been left to the imaginations of the fans.
This contest is your chance to put your imagination to use and tell us who you think the Furlings were. Any original creative effort is acceptable. You can write a fanfic, write a descriptive piece, write a poem, draw, do a collage, or even put together a profile, just to name a few.
You can do something as simple as showing us what they look like, or something as complicated as describing their whole society. We want to see what your imaginations can come up with.
Listed below are the three episodes that mention the Furlings along with a link to the transcript of that episode. You can take what evidence from them that you can find, or you can feel free to let your imagination go.
Episodes:
- The Torment of Tantalus (writing; season 1)
The Fifth Race (Asgard mention them; season 2)
Paradise Lost (Furling technology transports O'Neill and Mayborn to a potentially Furling planet; season 6)
Rules and Judging
- All pieces must follow the Gaian TOS and Guild rules.
Your submission must be original. Don't submit a picture (or even a drawing) of Cousin It. Your depiction can be similar to Cousin It or any other creature/item/whatever, but it also must have distinct differences. If you submit someone else's idea, it could be considered plagiarism. We really don't want to get into this, so please keep the ideas your own. That doesn't mean you can't combine other people's ideas... just don't rip off their hard work. This is a chance to use your imagination! We want you guys to show off- so show off!
The Furlings must be central to your piece, of course. They don't have to be the only characters in your piece, but they do have to be the focus.
There are more specific guildlines regarding actually submitting your pieces in the fourth post. Right now, they just cover the most likely submissions (i.e.: what we can think of), but you aren't limited to only those formats. If you do put together something not listed, just use common sense when submitting it or you can ask us. We aren't Ori. Slow, painful deaths are only for trolls and Wraith. biggrin
If someone on the crew has posted without acknowledging your entry and it was never added or noted in the entries post, feel free to tell us we missed it. Hopefully that won't happen, but we don't want to accidentally leave out an entry.
The contest is going to run through all of February. Judging will happen in the beginning of March.
The judging will be done by your guild queen and her loyal worshipers captain and the crew, but feel free to discuss the different submissions. We'd love to hear what you guys think of them as well. Just be polite. Don't say anything that would hurt your feelings if it were said to you.
If you guys have any questions at all, feel free to post here or PM one of us on the crew.
Prizes
- 3 winners will each recieve 4,000 gold.
