Despite how much the subject suggests letting elementals in, this is quite the opposite. I wish not for the Elemental race to flow freely throughout the world. Or, rather, I wish not for Avatar Elementals to run rampid within this world of magic and make-believe. Without my needing of saying much of anything, most, if not all, of you already know some of the reason why the Avatar elementals aren't allowed.

For one, being an elemental already give you grand power beyond belief without having to move into different sects, branches, and stages. If you are very creative, then-without the need of the actual element-you can make electricity with you being a pure water elemental or air elemental. Trust me, if you know some things about science and how things actually are, you can really rule the world.

The Avatar would undoubtedly be too much on any front. If the person isn't well in RPing, then the person can do whatever without another RPers full understanding of what has been done. If the person is great, then it is possible for them to come up with grand feats with multiple elements and completely overwhelm his or her adversary. The last thing we really need is a person who is mega powerful that can bend the fabric of reality.

If we do permit the existence of an Avatar based elemental, then that one being should be locked away within the tales of lore. In other words, he either doesn't exist, or he is in the background and an NPC who may never show. If what is said inside this one paragraph be the case, then I have a somewhat fitting story for the elementals to be put within the stories of lore.

As a side note, there are some confusions between the power of different elements as well as the difference between an ELEMENTAL and an ELEMENTALIST. In my belief, an elemental is a being derived from the elements themselves and live as one with nature's ever surprising world and beauty. Elementalists are mages, monsters, or some odd race that found a way to bend the elements. They use magic that has either been learned or passed down through blood in order to bend elements. If anything, the one reason why an elementalist is an elementalist is either because he learned the skills and powers, or he somehow got a drop of ancient Elemental blood in them.

I agree that such races as Elementals are too powerful for their own good. I think Elementalists are fine as long as there are limits placed and a structure that makes it hard to become a god among men. I don't look fondly upon any race which has ultimate power in one thing or another, but we'll always take votes on things...

I don't mind Elementals being gods of sorts/ they live in outer plains, but are unable to enter the ethereal/material plane as they cannot survive outside their own element...that I could understand.

I think that elementals should be mighty beasts who don't usually communicate with humans (or other PC-able races) directly. Sort of like Dragons in D&D.

Has anyone here seen Hellboy 2? the art and general fantastical intrigue in that movie (directed by Guillermo del Toro) was amazing, and I like how elementals were like according to that story.
here's a link to the scene from the movie on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYPE77uVSpY

There we go! That's what I'm thinking. But there is a catch. To be honest. If the lore of elementals I have is to be true in this world, then the elementals are a race that have died out long ago, because of man's ignorance. Man seen the beasts as demons and therefore killed them off like the dragons. Of course, we could edit mine, so the dragons can still exist.

If you want to find out what I'm talking about, then go to my thread about the lore. You'll see.

I like the idea of the elementals having absconded from the human plane of existence, hiding just out of reach of any normal human. Like the Fae people

I agree with both of you in that Elementals should be absent from material plane, but I like what Metriath said about them hiding in alternate planes of existence, an elemental plane for each specific element. That's how I think I would do it.

Okay. How about the elementals from Ark's time were the physical creatures of the material plane. Those happen to be separate from those of the spiritual or non-material plane. I mean, it's possible for both to exist. There were the animals, and then there were the golems or spiritual entities.
