Alright, I'm leaving this completely to chance... We are only going to work on one continent for the moment...I'll work on a map to figure out how many continents we are going to have in total.... [I'll draw one large continent with several tectonic plates which I'll place on various moving scales then let them run for a while and see where they end up...if anyone has any better ideas, let me know]
As for the chance thing...I'm rolling 4, 8 sided dice. I'll roll one 4 sided dice and which ever one it lands on will be the one with which we make the first continent's kingdoms...If the roll is less than four we will multiply it by the number the 4 sider lands on as to relieve the problem of having too few kingdoms...If the roll is four or three and the 4 sider is four as well, we will only add them together as I feel 12 and 16 is too many

The 4 sided roll...
EDIT: We have 7 kingdoms, does anyone oppose that?
Now we need to come up with ruling systems for each of the kingdoms as well as key features which distinguish them from one another...not nature, but steam punk type city, magic run, ocean port, species which only reside in one kingdom or another... that kind of think...They can be natural landscape features if you'd like, but we just need to distinguish each of them as a separate entity.

Let me think real quick. *uses what ever little brain power I could muster* Um...I believe that the Elves (despite their 'superiority' over mankind) Should have cities or dwellings that are reminiscent of forts or things during early colonial times. I'm just saying.
The dwarves are going to have the major industries like mining and foresting. So, they should be near mines and heavily wooded areas. Some of their areas should also be 'partially' barren to show that they cleared the area. You know, for authenticity.
Some races would probably live in caves that are more advanced then they appear. Not like, 'I have a 54" inch plasma screen TV.' Advanced as in, not expected to be seen in a cave. Or underground dwelling.

It depends on how you view elves Some people see them as living in thick forests, and or surrounded by nature. Another is how gaia shows them. They have many types of elves. It depends on how you see them. So we could have more then one race of elf, and have them in different parts of a kingdom. Unless we just pick one. The cave, and dwarf idea would actually work. If we do do the cryptographies styled government, maybe there could be a part of the caves where the Rulers stay. Where it is more luxurious, and secret. OH! Maybe we could divide the religion, and lore up to fit the races, kingdoms, and cities. Yes I know I am not the first, or last to have that idea. .w.

Though, the cryptography I was thinking of had to deal with Black's Forces which may not fit, and the history of The Null Sphere of the Void. I told you of this before. Of course, we can have multiples of these governments hidden, but the one thing about them being secret is...they're secret. When we 'finish' everything, we're going to have to find a way to put all of this information neatly for all to see. Things that we want to not be messed with by everybody, we store in the middle or somewhere at the end. Remember, some things are better not to be done by all. The last thing we need are 20 people all hunting down the cryptography and having themselves 20 different outcomes for it. I say, we try to find a way to incorporate the lore of the land into the societies, and keep track of whoever is trying to do something related to that. If anything, the gods and goddesses we make, the characters in the lore we make should be us. And if not us, then at least somebody who can take over and understand how it should work.

If only we could have some crazy government conspiracies theorists runing around to put the blame on. That would make things so much easier. Anyway. That is a good idea. To have only a few people use them as NPCs. And just to have them in the background, or something untill they are actualy needed. With only a slect few who can interact with them untill the plot of the rp gets to the point where they are less of a secret.

Exactly. Every lore, every myth, every story, every legend we come up with, we can decide whether it actually exists and happened, or if this is some wise tell that just speaks of origins and beginnings. LIke the one with Gefangener. He is one that may exist, but no one knows for certain. If he was to be brought out, he will show as a cameo. He'll be the chaotic good. The one who'll destroy any he sees as bad. He is a berserker, but he is not evil.
Let's just gather multiple stories. Some of them, we'll have as dummies. Stories there, so we can have a lore or tell. Others are there as traces of what actually exists. Gefangener, Koiran Kanto, Black's Forces, The Cult of the Void, all of them are there for discovery and when we need to boost the RP.
All in favor say I! I!!!

Um yeah. Note Pad as much as I love your ideas maybe some of them should just be lore. Instead of all of them actualy existing.

I Stalk Waffles Um yeah. Note Pad as much as I love your ideas maybe some of them should just be lore. Instead of all of them actualy existing. Oh, I know that. I'm not saying that all actually exist. In that case, then why not make it fact or history? I'm saying that we should craft some of what we want to actually exist. After that, we put a whole lot of random folk tales either one of us came up with, or that we get from other countries or off the internet. If all of them existed, then we would have an epidemic, because everyone would mess with what they like.

Ones about animals and interactions between different races. Remember, we need to find ones that doesn't include humans. That's folklore on their behalf. We don't need to give them all lore and leave everyone else with zip. Also see if you can find some that actually can overshadow if not match up with the ones we made, so it can just seem like, oh just how they are. Even if ours is in the middle, we don't want them identifying ours ASAP. Let's take this up in Lore. This isn't the place for this conversation.

I think I should clarify something...this isn't an rp. We are just creating a world with options for others to have an rp on. So we wouldn't really be running the world...I mean, we could, but that would also mean we'd have to get dm/gms for each of the kingdoms/cities and moderators for temples and anything major...If we were to have hidden governments for cities, we would have to include it in the kingdom write up... we'd include the cover-up government as the front and the entire workings of the hidden government in the write up as well. If a player character were to read it, they would know it, but it would be out of character knowledge.

My apologies. I'm probably having my mind get the best of me. You know how it is. I'm a bit over zealous here.

I just wanted to get people together to see the actual possibility of finishing a world hand book of sorts. Kinda like giving people another set of manuals for a whole new set of adventures outside of table top games and possibly open up a form of table top playing to forum players. It would take a rather intensive group of people to get something like the above done; though, it does already exist on the net.
