They're a Metalcore band out of San Diego, CA. They released their first album back in 2001 titled "Beneath The Encasing of Ashes". Since then they have released four more albums, a split album titled "A Long March: The First Recordings" containing their original EP "As I Lay Dying" and a remastered version of their first album. In 2009 they released their first DVD titled "This Is Who We Are". The current bands members are as follows:
*Tim Lambesis - lead vocals (2001-current)
*Jordan Mancino - drums (2001-current)
*Phil Sgrosso - rhythm guitars (2001-current)
*Nick Hipa - lead guitar (2004-current)
*Josh Gilbert - bass, backing vocals (2007-current)

as i lay dying is ******** awesome a solid all around metal band the riffs are great and the solos are too and its also got a feeling to the music

What many people don't know about the band is that all the members of the band are devoted Christians. But unlike most bands they don't try to push their beliefs on their fans, unlike a certain someone..(Phil LaBonte).
