I have this snowglobe of a cat that I got when I was a child and it has always scared me. I am pretty sure it is evil in some way or another. I get a general sense of just being freaked out by it whenever I look at it. I often feel like it's glaring at me when I walk past it and I remember once when I was a kid seeing images of my pets dead reflected in the glass of the globe. It's a vivid memory though it is possible it might have been a dream. I have never liked this snow globe and I can't seem to get rid of it as the people I live with like it and aren't believers in this kind of thing.
I was wondering if there is some kind of purification ritual I can preform on this object that will fix it, or if I should just leave it be. I have no experience with such rituals and I don't want to acidentally unleash something from this thing. I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or advice on this.

I forgot to mention this and it is rather important. As a kid I did attempt to throw it out once and my dad took it and claimed it as his so it is his now. I can't simply throw it away.

The key may be where you say "I don't want to accidentally unleash something from this thing." The spirit or magic or impression is contained in the object, or at least that's what I gathered from your description. Rather than being evil perhaps all it shows is horrid things, things that "might come to pass" that we would rather avoid. Honestly, I would ward the thing, keeping its occupant bottled up, rather than doing anything destructive. Try making a protective circle around it, with yourself on the outside. Sage is a good purifier, used in many a house cleansing.
