-- Welcome! -- Anyone is free to join in at any timeLocation: "The river is very long, coming from the distant mountain... The most-visited part of the river is the stretch between the lake and the swamp, where the river cuts deeper and flows more slowly, making it perfect for swimming in the summer. There are more fish that choose to reside in the river than in the lake, as well, and they make friendly swimming companions or delicious meals, depending on how you look at it. "
Time: It is summer in the land of Unlocked, the perfect time for a beach bonfire.
Storyline: Locks and keys are enjoying a party, when disaster strikes-- a storm is suddenly and without warning, headed their way. The rest of the story will be filled in as we go along, don't want to plan out every single detail...
Rules: * Have a journal set up BEFORE joining in. Please link to the journal in your first post so I can put it up in our character list. Try to include personality, weaknesses, strengths, how do they talk? Ophelia was always up for any type of party, anywhere! Beaches are not her favorite, as it is difficult for her to slighter around without sinking into the sand, but it was a party, and there was no way she'd miss out on the fun! Today was worse of all; it was in the middle of yet another hot summer day and every move she made, the sand would burn her poor body. She has to use her wings a lot to get around on sand, and they get tired easily. How she wished she had legs like the other keys so she could wear shoes!
Ophelia was making her way to the beach to meet up with her friends. Bounce bounce bounce. She expertly dribbled a beach ball with her tail, while halfway slithering, halfway flying. She spotted a few specks, which she concluded were her friends, gathered at the far end, and quickened her pace.
She was about a few feet away, when she hit the ball extra high to try to impress some of them. Squinting into the high midday sun, she saw the shadow of a sphere coming towards her. She whipped her tail up and smacked the ball with all her might. Just at that instant, a breeze picked up and blew the beach ball off course.
Whoops.
"Heads up!!!!" she called out, hoping not to hit any of her friends.
That would definitely not be a very good first impression at a party.

Tisiphone smiled as the hot summer sun warmed her fur. Summer was her favorite season, and her favorite part of this time of year was all the beach parties. She floated along, greeting her friends with a jovial grin. She wandered towards the water, dipping her feet into the cool waves, and giggled as the waves splashed her tiny paws. She skipped back up to where all her friends were gathered, and as she turned around to face the dunes, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She turned to get a better look at it, but the sun was making it difficult to see clearly. Then, all of a sudden, thwack! Something had just clobbered Tisiphone in the head and she fell into the soft, warm sand, a bit dazed, and attempting in vain to figure out what had just taken place.

(( Viridian)) Bright patterns glowed on the underwater river bank from warm sun, Viridian dodged and twisted around the light beams as she swim like a intense game of dodgeball. She wasn't sure why she was going to the beach party by herself, the few friends she had skipped out on her for importent things like sleeping or feelings. The words of one friend's excuse still creeped in her ear 'I'm sorry viri, but theres something nagging us not to go.'"how stupid," an excuse like that made viridian want to go to the party, just to prove it wrong. When viri began to near the shallow part of the river, she heard voices of laughs and joyful screams and noticed colorful paws of of unknown unlocks, viri decided it was time to resurface. She pushed her tail swiftly and popped her head out of the water blinking, just to see a beach ball roll into the water. Viri blink a few more times, bobbing a few seconds before diving and resurfacing under the ball to balence it on her head. Viri looked to were the ball had rolled from just to stare at someone face first dead in the sand a few yards from the water.
Viridian had to blink again.

"I AM SO, SO, SO-SO-SO-SO-SO SORRY!!!!" exclaimed Ophelia. "Are you hurt? Bruised? Please say you remember your name!"
Every vision of brain injury raced through Ophelia's mind, then she remembered it was just an air filled ball made of soft plastic. Nonetheless, she made sure to check over Tissi very thoroughly, using her tail to give the Key soft prods to make sure Tissi's head was fine.
Afterwards, Ophelia peeked around the beach for her ball, and saw it being pushed to shore by the waves. In the process of finding her ball, she spotted Viri in the water. Ophelia was about to wave to her, when something that looked like driftwood was laying in the sand, and Viri was staring at it, wide-eyed.
Ophelia walked a bit closer to see what it was.
"OHMYGOD!!" she gasped, flying back a few paces.
She was horror-stricken when she realized what it was-- a body, and it was not moving.

((Dead body? Wasn't quite sure how to go with that, so I figured I'd go the humorous route.))
Sleeping quietly on the beach and soaking up the sun with her dark fur was her orignal plan, but it seemed that it was not to be. Dalila stirred briefly after the sounds of a ruckus reached her in the depth of sleep, and slowly opened her eyes to see two unknown creatures, a lock and key, staring at her as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes with her paws.
She pulled herself up, shaking the sand off her dark fur, letting the sun shine off the silver patterns decorating her body, and sat there for a minute trying to shake the sand out of her eyes. That's what I get for sleeping facedown, she thought to herself.
It was only then she noticed how the two were staring at her, and she was thankful for her dark fur, as it hid the heat rising to her face in embarassment. And that's what I get for falling asleep in public. I hope they didn't think I was dead or something, I was only asleep for a few hours.... I think. She got up, hesitantly walking towards the closest one, a green lock floating in the water.
"Uh.... Hi, I'm Dalila," she said falteringly, extending a paw to the lock.

(( T^T sorry for the confusion ))
Viri stared as the dead body got up and shook its fur, Viri felt embrassed for a few seconds. She hadn't even noticed the snake key loudly making a scene because of the shock she had just experienced, that was leaving like it never occurred. Still balancing the ball on her head, she headbutted the beach ball to go up in the air and fall lightly on Dalila's head.
"That's for sleeping on the beach" Viri mumbled as she climbed out of the water four pawed then stood up on her feet. Disliking the feeling of sand sticking to her scales she scowled and decided to carry her tail to keep it from dragging on the ground. She half way used the excuse that she was too wet to shake hands, but also she was a fish, ever heard of a fish grip? "I'm Viridian, glad to see you weren't...... tripped over"
She was going to say dead.

((No worries, it just made for a good start for D to come in))
Dalila watched as the lock came out of the water. She caught the ball on her forehead and flicked it back, catching and balancing it with her tail. She giggled, saying "well, serves me right then, for sleeping like the dead," heedless of Viridian's reaction. "Honestly, knowing my luck though, I'm pretty surprised I DIDN'T get tripped over."
She still had sand coming off of her fur, and it shed as she moved, causing her to sneeze as some came by her nose. It was a loud, powerfull 'AaaCHOO,' and managed to knock the beach ball out of her grasp, and it rolled gently down the slope of the beach and into the water.
She eyed the fishy looking lock, and speculated. "Race you down?" she said with a smile.

Viri eyed the ball that was that now was drifting farther in the water, then looked around and noticed a few unlocks that had been watching for some reason, but she payed them no mind.
"You have no chance once we're in the water" She smirked, not going to ignore the simple challenge. She leaned forward, ready, set, and "go!"
Viri started running, not really cheating but she didn't like losing.

((Sorry it took so long to reply sweatdrop ))
Dalila smiled, knowing from the looks of her that the lock would have her beat, but enjoying the race anyway. She crouched down, and on Viri's 'go!' she kicked off and started pumping her wings towards the water, enjoying the breeze ruffling her feathers and her fur as she glided down the gentle slope of the beach.
She splashed into the water, holding her wings up to try and keep them as dry as possible. I should've thought about that before I said we should race to the water. Now they'll take ages to dry.... She started wading towards the beach ball and only then looked behind her to see where Viri was.

((just glad you did, we need to get everyone else back in))
Viri ran wide eyed then cursed to herself, she had forgetten that she had challaged a flying key. She wasn't going to complain about a weakness, but on land... she had a hard time, not mentioning the sand. Dalila took off flying in the lead as Viridian gave up running on two legs in hopes to chase after her.
The breeze kicked up some sand in the air and Viridian gritted her teeth wincing as it got into her eyes. She didn't dare rub it out with her front paws, since that would only slow her down. She blinked furriously, but was distracted long enough to not see the pair of party-goers walking along the water until the last second. "Move It!"
Viri didn't wait for them, but instead used them, with glare used the innocent's shoulders as a trapoline and jumped the last two feet into the water.

Just then... the key stirred. All hopes of relief rushed over Ophelia, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh... just kidding!" She tried to cover her embarrassing outburst, while quickly shifting her eyes over to her friends behind her to see if anyone else noticed it.
Ophelia looked around for some shade to hide in, maybe a tree? A rock? Actual driftwood? She settled on a tiny boulder nearby that barely covered her. She hoped that her ears won't get all sunburned, as she tucked them close to her body. Ophelia watched Viri and the walking dead key play... and drifted off to sleep herself.

Dalila, as she turned around, saw Viri running toward her and take a leap into the water, splashing it everywhere and soaking the wings Dalila has painstakingly tried to keep dry. And there goes my ability to fly for the next few hours.... Darn, I should have thought about that before the challenge... She merely shook her wings out, figuring it was too late anyway, and dove under the water, aiming for the beach ball which was rising and falling with the gentle lapping of the waves on the beach.
She lost sight of Viri after she jumped in the water, and she strove to keep her eyes open in the salty water to try and look for her. Oh dear... Another thing I should have thought about before hand.... When was the last time I swam? She ruffled her wings underwater, trying in vain to use them to propel herself forward. Giving up, she let herself float back to the surface of the water and looked around to see how far out from shore she was, and how far away from the ball she had drifted in her brief excursion underwater.

Jumping in the water, it felt like time froze still as Viridian blinked the sand away. All the heat of the sun and of the race cooled as soon as she hit the water. The loud sounds of the above deafened masked only by the waves and hushed silence that came with the terriory in this underwater relm.
Viri all but almost forgotten the challage if not for the black shadow floating just below the water surface. She strongly pushed her tail down and propelled herself toward Dalila taking the time to loop around the key with a smirk before looking for the ball. It wasn't far as she speeded past Dalila and began to circle the floating beachball. She grined, celebrating prematerly as she waited for the Key, she didn't even notice the multipling large patches of white clouds that were forming as they rolled quickly in the sky.

((Augh, I'm so sorry I haven't been posting. I got sick and couldn't think of anything, and then I had surgery, etc.))
Tissi hovered there, dazed and blinking after being poked and prodded by the pink Key. She shook out the sand from her fur and wings, then proceeded stretch. After rubbing her eyes a few times, she plopped down on a nearby rock and stared out at the glistening, azure sea. As she sat entranced by the rolling waves, she tried to decide what she wanted to do next. She watched as a green speck and a black speck raced down the beach.
Hmm, she thought to herself, maybe I could go find that pink Key with the beach ball. She seemed nice. Tissi flicked her tail a little and smiled. ...Or maybe I should find some food, she thought as her stomach let out a huge growl. She stood up, stretched her wings, hovered a little, and did a short backflip. Maybe she'd get lucky and the pink Key would be by the food. Tissi smiled, and began gliding over toward a large crowd, with the tables full of food in amidst them.
