First and foremost, the use of this dice fight system is strictly optional and you are perfectly free to use other systems or RP fights without any dice at all. This system is largely here to add a little spice to fights and add an element of random chance. How does this system work? The first thing you need to do is find a partner and agree what kind of fight you want to do. There are three basic variations:
-Fight for a fixed number of turns. (I recommend five.) -Fight until one dragon surrenders. (The typical surrender point is when one dragon reaches 5 hp.) -Fight until one dragon is knocked unconscious. (If a dragon has 0 hp, they are unconscious. They may not be revived by healing during that fight.)
Other things to determine are which, if any, of the dragons are experienced fighters and what kind of terrain/magic/armor bonuses you want to use.
The fight itself if fairly straightforward:
1) Each dragon makes an intro post leading to the fight itself. (optional) 2) Take turns posting and rolling dice until you either reach a pre-determined number of turns or one dragon wins. If more than two dragons are involved in the fight, declare which dragon you are attacking. Edit each post to add your dragon’s current hp and what their last move did. Example: BADASSINATOR attacks WIMPUS. 15 hp, lands a light hit and does two damage. 3) Once one dragon or the other wins, take turns going back and editing all the posts with RP responses describing the fight. You can also edit as you go. 4) Make exit posts. (optional)
Here is an example fight. It is a duel with five rounds.Do I have to use the advanced stats? No you don’t. Do all fights have to be one on one?No they do not. They don’t have to be evenly matched either; two on one or five on three is perfectly fine, but if more than two dragons are involved you must declare who you are attacking before you roll. This is also the only dragon you can dodge/block that turn. Do the fights have to be RPed out, or can we just roll until somebody wins? You are free to just roll until somebody wins, but it won’t count as an RP and you can’t get any RP bonuses for the fight. If you aren’t going to RP, you can do multiple rolls at a time. Here is an example of a quick non-RP fight. (Only with RP because I couldn't resist. But you get the idea.)How does a dragon qualify as “experienced”?Experience is relative and should be determined on a case-by-case basis by the players involved in the fight. For example: dragon A has never been in a fight, dragons B and C have moderate training, and dragon D has been training their entire life. The match-ups would go as follows: A x B -- B qualifies as experienced, A does not B x C -- either B and C both qualify as experienced, or neither one does B x D -- D qualifies as experienced, B does not A x D -- why are you using the dice system? What kind of injuries should my dragon receive from the dice fights? What injuries (if any) a dragon receives is purely up to the owner of that dragon. Don’t god mode – a heavy hit from a northern dragon might take away 4 hp, but it’s up to the other owner what kind of injury that creates.
Good: Badassinator swiped at Wimpus’ shoulder, smiling as he felt the blow connect. Bad: Badassinator hit Wimpus so hard he fractured his arm.I want to keep attacking after the other dragon ran away and/or kill them.Unless the other owner agrees to it, you’re out of luck.My dragon is ill/injured/really good at defense/never loses.I can’t possibly cover every possible scenario, so feel free to tweak the dice to match your dragon. For illness/injury/heavy stamina, I recommend tweaking the hp and for offense/defense I recommend tweaking what the dice do. Your fighting partner must agree to any changes you make before the battle begins and you can’t change things half way through.
If your dragon never loses, don’t use the damn dice.Bawwww, I lost!Too bad.I won and I am going to rub it in everybody’s faces. You got lucky. Also, you’re a jerk.Who created this/wrote the guide?moineau bavarde. Ask her for permission if you want to use it anywhere else.
