- The Johto Starters demand you read the following carefully! -

- Original Pokemon and You -
A guide to creating your own Pokemon friends.

The world of Pokemon as a great and marvelous place, filled with creatures of every shape, size, and color one could possibly imagine. And yet, with every new area dozens of new species pop up. Older trainers might remember the days of there only being 150 of our loyal friends, and then along came an adorable little pink ball of cuddly kitty we know as Mew, and our family of Pokemon friends grew by one. Since Mew, the pokemon world has increased greatly in size and scope. But since then, the minds of trainers and players everywhere have gone on wild and creative sprees of imagination and spawned their very own creatures which have become known as "Original Pokemon" or more commonly as "Fakemon."

Not all Fakemon are overpowered, some are just creations born from imagination and a love of making something of your own. Sometimes they're a pre-evolution to a pokemon we already know and love. Other times they are an evolution to an existing pokemon that a person was always fond of, but wanted to see what an evolution might look like. And more still are completely original creations born out of a desire to make something unique to the creator.

But whatever the reasons behind their creation, Original Pokemon have been created for as long as Pokemon has been around. And this thread will not only give you the set of rules that your original creation can follow to become used in the guild as part of your team, but will also serve to hold the creations of others so that you will have some guidelines to assist you in the creation of your own Original Pokemon.

So, without further exposition, let's get started...

- Original Pokemon Allowance System -

Before getting started with your creation, it is important to realize that above all else, individuals have the right to refuse to battle against your original creation if they deem it necessary, or just don't want to deal with it and cannot be penalized for it. This is especially true if they feel it is too powerful. While this rule kinda sucks in some cases (such as if a Gym Leader has one or denies you using it), it makes sense as some people don't want to deal with something outside their experience and comfort zone.

Keeping that in mind, how does a person even start? What are the steps needed to get your Pokemon approved? Well, this can be pretty complicated, but it is outlined below.

Quote:
Does a person Qualify?
In order to limit the amount of this stuff we'd be seeing, as many people want to be creative, a limit on even being allowed to make or use one would need to be in place, first. In effect, we base it on User Activity. If a user has been significantly active, and they decide that they want to create one (or use one made by someone else), the moderators will discuss it after being asked by the person in question, and then get back to you with a reply of yes or no. In addition, we have to gauge whether or not the member in question could adequately make use of the Pokemon they've created. Being active with one-liners won't qualify! So get out there and be active. Take part in the world! If you're literate, can post a paragraph or more, and can post at least once or twice a day, you're well on your way to being able to create your own Pokemon!

Does the Pokemon Qualify?
Assuming they get the green light, the Pokemon (and trainer) in question would need to be examined. Are its stats within "acceptable" limits? What moves can it learn, and what moves should be forbidden to it? Does it evolve? All of these things will need to be looked at and accepted before a designed creature could be brought into play.

Also, in order for a design to qualify, it has to be a Pokemon. It can't be a re-purposed Digimon/YuGiOh image or creature (original artwork is highly encouraged!!). And if it evolves, it should have images and stats / movesets / learnsets for every form in its evolution tree. Remember, you're making your very own Pokemon here, and all these things are incredibly important, not just to you but to other trainers that might want to use it as well. This level of work going into the process is to weed out the lazy or unconcerned members that might just want something overly powerful with little to no work involved. It means that only members that are willing to put the love and time into creating the creature will eventually have one to use.

Accepted Trial Basis
Even after being accepted, the Pokemon in question shall have to be battled by someone in the mod squad or maybe another member to test its effectiveness in battle, and make sure that it hasn't broken any limits that weren't already placed on it during creation. Assuming it passes the "Battle Test" the Pokemon will then be around on a "Trial Basis" for quite some time. The trial will allow the Pokemon to be seen in action over a longer period of time to see if it is still conforming to the limits that were originally placed on it. After a decided on period of time, the Pokemon can then be fully accepted as a part of the guild, and perhaps even used by other users!

- Rules and Guidelines -

So then, you've been given the green light to create a Pokemon of your very own. Chances are you already have an idea in mind, but before you make the next Pokemon God or create something horribly resistant to every type of attack imaginable, let's take a step back and set some guidelines beforehand. You've been given a vast level of freedom to create, let's not use it to destroy or dominate! So, before you put pen to paper, consider the following.

Quote:
You may own up to 6 Fakemon MAXIMUM, but keep in mind
people have the right to refuse to battle them.

Base Stat Total -
A BST between 180 and 550 is the best bet. Any lower than that and you'd officially have the weakest pokemon ever, and any higher than that and you risk making another pseudo-legendary pokemon like Dragonite with 600 BST. The absolute highest stat total you can have is a BST of 600. And even then, this is up to the judging team to determine if it is allowable for you to go above the soft limit of 550. A good judge for these totals is to look at a pokemon that should be similar in power to yours, and then adjust numbers accordingly. Making a ton of very powerful pokemon would make it un-fun for other members, so be respectful of others when making your new friend.

Abilities -
Several Pokemon can have more than one ability available to them, however for the most part this is more for final evolutions, where first or second evolutions usually only have one. Abilities are tricky things. One may be acceptable on one Pokemon, but make another completely and totally broken. Case in point would be a Ghost/Dark Type with Wonderguard, or a powerful Dragon/Steel or Ghost/Steel Type with Solid Rock or Filter. Abilities will be assessed when the Pokemon is put up for acceptability. If the mod squad finds an ability makes the Pokemon too strong, they will ask you to change it, so be conservative when you submit, and possibly mention other abilities you'd thought of when creating it for their opinions.

Types -
Some Pokemon have one, others have two, but whatever the combination, Types play a huge role in Pokemon. Some Types work well together, others do not, but keeping Type and Type Combination in mind when creating your Pokemon is important as well. While you might really want that Ghost/Dark Type, think about how its typing would combine with abilities, and how it might effect people who battle against it. Enjoy what you're making, but just be mindful of how your types interact with others.

Movesets/Learnsets -
Betcha didn't know Magikarp can learn Bounce from a Move Tutor in HG and SS. Well, he can! And knowing what moves your pokemon learns by leveling up, what moves it can learn via tutoring, and that TMs/HMs it can learn is priceless knowledge both for you and for trainers that may want to use your Pokemon. When picking moves, try to be logical. Chances are a Water Type will not know or learn Fire Type moves etc. But a few oddball moves might be interesting twists, like a Dragon/Ground being able to learn Fire moves. And try to avoid signature moves at all costs. Your version of Caterpie knowing Roar of Time just isn't really acceptable (even if the thought is amusing).

Origins!!
Let's face it, it is unlikely that your Pokemon will be from Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Hoenn, or even Black and White's Isshu as far as their origins, at least as far as present day is concerned, without a good reason why it has never been seen before. Therefore it is important to write up an acceptable backstory for your Pokemon. Maybe it is an ancient fossil that has been newly discovered, or maybe it is so rare that it was once thought extinct until recently found. Maybe it was created in a lab like Mewtwo or designed in a computer like Porygon, or maybe it even came from another world like Deyoxys. But wherever and whatever its origins might be, make them creative. And if you're having problems with this particular aspect of your Pokemon, talks are underway for a strange new area to explore where trainers could find these strange new Pokemon for themselves. However, try to make an effort to determine your own backstory. It Is YOUR Pokemon after all.

Keeping all of these things in mind will better the chances that your Original Pokemon will have a nice, smooth transition into playability in the guild!

- Fakédex Data -

As new Original Pokemon are created, they will be added below here for all to see and check out. Maybe your design will become a liked pokemon, and others will want to use it as a part of their teams. So having this "Fakédex" with information on the newly created and discovered Pokemon is idea for both the creators that birthed them and the trainers that will battle them.

- The Ovagon Evolutionary Line -
A journey from fragile as shale to strong as iron!

Information -
Ovagon and its evolutions are only known from a very rare fossil known as an "Armor Fossil." Fewer than twenty said fossils have been found throughout the Pokemon World, and only three remain of its final form, Ferragon. They are believed to have gone extinct thousands of years ago due to their weaknesses to several known pokemon types. With its first two evolutionary forms being so vulnerable, the evolutionary line ceased to be. Only in recent times have a few of these fossils been excavated, and reborn through the use of modern science. They remain exceedingly rare and terribly valuable.

The suit was originally meant to protect Rocket Grunts, but due to the nature the virus, Dr. Lestrade has been unable to retrieve the pokemon for further testing. The shiny versions of these Pokemon (if they ever existed) have most likely been wiped out as their strangely colored coat did not prove to be beneficial for their well-being.

Info: Toranaris are lightning fast. They can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds, faster than most supercars. Toranaris are notorious for striking before their prey can notice them. These large cats are few to be found due to the fact that few of their young survive to adulthood; however the few that do are extremely dangerous and tend to stalk their prey, prefering to strike during the day when their prey thinks it is safe. Their golden coat nearly makes them nearly invisible in the savannah fields...then again that is only if you can spot them. The Conflagration Pokemon

Height: 3'01" / 0.9m
Weight: 53.4lbs / 24.3kg

Info: One of many exotic species found on the Sevii Islands, the Pyrup family is a natural enemy of the Denko family, more akin to the Seviper and Zangoose animosity than anything else. Given that the Denko resemble felines, and the Pyrup canines, this would make sense. Pyrup are far more populous than the Denko, roaming about the islands in self-contained packs that can reach numbers of ten or twelve - traditionally, one can identify the stronger, more dominant (and male) Pyrup by the size of the flames that cover a Pyrup's body; the smaller, and more contained, the stronger, as these Pyrup have mastered self-control. Pyrup mainly eat coal and various other minerals to replenish their internal mineral store, which fuels their flames.

The Combustion Pokemon

Height: 5'11" / 1.8m
Weight: 401.30lbs / 182.4kg

Info: Volupo are immediately distinguishable from their evolutionary forebears by the emergence of rock on their bodies - the Pyrup's mineral store grows in size and manifests itself on the exterior of the Pokemon, leading to the more fiery appearance of the Volupo. Some of this manifestation contains iron and copper, which allows Volupo to utilize electricity in some of its attacks. After evolving from Pyrup, Volupo tend to break away from the packs in which they roamed, forming new packs with similar outcasts, thus ensuring a wide genepool. A Volupo's den can be easily identified by copious amounts of ash and scorched earth - there have even been instances of forest fires started simply because of a dominance battle between two Volupo. A prolific author once used a Volupo as inspiration for a story involving a detective investigating a murder on a misty moor.

The Necromancer Pokemon

Info: During the Renaissance, Necrage was thought to be the soul of a knight or magician, unable to find rest, that had come to find a new body and continue his work in the physical world. Since it's said that death dramatically reduced their strength, they wield small knives for attack attempts, and a buckler to try and defend from attacks. It was also thought that, due to Necrage's lack of visable body, it possessed some sort of Psychic ability, though recent studies have show that under the robes are hands that resemble those of a Haunter.

The Playsword Pokemon

Info: A Halvercro's look varies very much depending on what it is a Necrage decided to take over. The most common form, though, is that of a small child with an adult-sized leather shield and a chipped wooden play sword. Since it is still very fragile due to being so young, it coats itself in as much leather armour as it can, as metal is too heavy for it. To keep from losing his armour and shield, Halvercro tend to keep away from extreme temperatures.

Info: Halvereon are trained in the ways of the sword and shield. Believing they have regained their old status of knighthood, they are usually found in groups of 4 or 5, each one protecting another. Just like Halvercro, Halvereon differ from one another, though only the crests change. It also seems that each crest has a different level of power for Halvereon's, those with the more elaborate designs being treated like leaders or kings, with the more simple designs usually belonging to the lesser Halvereon's order.

The Wisp Pokemon

Info: Necratsu is the mishap of a Necrage invading a little girl's body. Much like Halvercro, Necratsu looks more like a monster than a human. Underneath the robes of this Pokemon, it has been observed that none of its appendages are actually attached to each other. Due to its small frame, it doesn't have great Physical power by itself, so it manifests two clawed hands, about the size of its own body, using dark matter. The small crown on its head is used to help focus its energy and keep the hands from dissipating.

The Disassemble Pokemon

Info: Baracro have trained themselves in several different ways of fighting. While they are masters of none of them, combining their techniques along with their ability to split their body up and send each part in a different direction, they have developed a very unique style of battle. Unfortunately, their training was more in offensive ability, unlike their counterpart Halvereon who are adept in defending, so they are very susceptible to hits. While their bodies can be split up into 17 parts(head, shoulders, hands, arms, legs, hip orbs, feet, and body) if any part of it gets damaged, the rest of the parts feel the same pain. If a body part is out of view, they also find it difficult to retrieve it. Despite these cons, if every body part is in view or together, they're able to confuse and attack their foes in a variety of different ways and directions.

Information: Kinderkhan never leave their mother's sight. They stay in their mother's pouch most of the time, and only come out to play when it is safe. If you see a wild Kinderkhan playing, stay away! Chances are, the mother Kangaskhan will be in the area, and it will become incredibly enraged with you! Because Kinderkhan do not leave their mothers, they share one pokeball until the Kinderkhan evolves and leaves its mothers pouch. If for some reason it gets seperated from its mother, the chance of it surviving on its own is very low. Kinderkhan is considered to be a Kanto-region Pokemon, since it has always been with a Kangaskhan, though it wasn't considered its own seperate species of Pokemon until recently. Professors are still trying to find a place to put it in the pokedex number system. Kinderkhan is a female-only species with no male counterpart.

This Grass-type Pokemon is no bigger than a common house cat, and isn't very aggressive. In order to keep up with its high metabolism, Aeki generally must eat at least twice its body mass in bamboo each day. They're very energetic when exposed to sunlight, but are otherwise lethargic. The leaves on its back are a good indication of its health. If they are ever withered, the Pokemon could be gravely injured or sick.

Dex Entry: Kiuboo are powerful fighters, boasting a wide variety of kicking and punching moves. However, their potential still remains to be unlocked as they're only beginners in their martial art. Despite the lack of power, their attacks are not to be underestimated. A rapid volley of punches from a Kiuboo have been known to topple trees and break solid rock. The Kung Fu Pokemon is still a rather peaceful Pokemon, choosing to fight defensively over offensively. The plant on its back has evolved even more so increasing its defensive incredibly. The plant now acts not only as a way to estimate its health, but it also helps store excess energy that can be used at a moment's notice. The spiky leaves on its back are sometimes used as weapons.

Dex Entry: At the pinnacle of their training, a Yipkai can fight a Machamp and easily win. Not only can it defend itself, but it has mastered the art of close combat. A single punch from a distance of even an inch can shatter the strongest steel. Yipkai have been known to be able to launch a barrage of several thousand punches over the course of a few seconds. However, despite their proficiency with punching, kicks are rarely in a Yipkai's repertoire, as kicks and other strong attacks leave them in a position to be easily countered. They are sometimes found using long bamboo poles as impromptu weapons.

ATK: 130
DEF: 60
SP. ATK: 110
SP. DEF: 65
SPEED: 95

Typing: Poison
Abilities: Liquid Ooze
Species: Noxious Fume Pokemon
Evolves: By leveling Eevee while it knows the move (TM06) Toxic.
Breeding: Egg Group – Field

Pokedex Entry:
Toxeon, the Noxious Fume Pokemon. Due to its unique molecular structure, Toxeon can seemingly float in the air, as well as disappear in a ‘poof’ of purple mist at will. If encountering a Toxeon in the wild, use extreme caution! They will not hesitate to attack you with their powerful poison-type attacks.

Information:
Height – 3’00”, Weight – 15lbs.
Toxeon is the lightest of the Eeveelutions, due to the fact that its body is comprised of toxic gases. When an Eevee who knows the move “Toxic (TM06)” levels up, it will evolve into a Toxeon. If you stumble upon a wild Toxeon, exercise extreme caution -- these Pokemon have been abandoned by their trainers, and thus have developed a hatred for humans. The cloud around Toxeon’s neck is extremely dangerous if inhaled, but if it trusts you, you won’t have a problem. Due to its unique molecular structure, it is able to seemingly disappear in a ‘poof’ of purple mist and reappear elsewhere. Due to its light weight, it is able to jump higher than any other Eeveelution, almost seeming to be able to float, once again, due to its unique molecular structure. Toxeon are known to have nasty tempers and will only bond with one human – ever. A captured Toxeon from the wild will never be tamed; for they have already bonded with their previous owner. It is best to raise one from an Eevee, and never trade it.

The Sketch Pokemon

Height: 1'05" / 0.43m
Weight: 51.5lbs / 23.4kg

Info: Unlike their evolved forms, Pupaint's tail has yet to fully form, and thus the power of the move they Trace is more unpredictable, often weaker. Pupaint need their artwork to be approved by the Smeargle comunity in the Ruins of Alph in order to evolve, and thus they have just as much a desire, if not more, to paint as Smeargle. The reason Pupaint has only recently discovered lies in the fact that they can only be found in the deepest recesses of the Ruins of Alph, though since the Ruins have been opened to the public, some Pupaint have escaped, turning up all over Johto near large works of art. Pupaint are the favourite Pokemon of the famous artists of the Pokemon world, being not only devastatingly cute but able to emulate and/or inspire their trainers.

Evolves into Smeargle when leveled up with max happiness in the Ruins of Alph.
