Name: His given name is Puckett, but he prefers to be called "Puck".
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Sexual Orientation: Asexual
Rank: Blue Weyrling
Appearance: Puck has boyish features, looking closer to 14 or 15 than his actual 17 turns. He has a mess of auburn hair, which he has cut relatively short. His hair is curly, sticking up in a rather unmanageable way. Despite this, his hair has a natural healthy shine to it. Though he had a round face, much like a child's, Puckett has a tall and willowy build. Most of his skin is rather tanned from working outside day after day, though what is often covered by clothing is a soft healthy pink. Puckett has surprisingly rough hands, which are usually coated with a fine layer of dirt. Puckett sports a pair of wide black eyes.
Puck often wears poor, stained clothing when he’s working, wearing neutral shades like blue and gray. His clothes are torn in the knees and where the fabric hangs loosely off his frame. The repairs are well done, thought he patches don't match the exact shade of his clothing. His clothes are torn so often, the patches need to be constantly replaced, thus why they don't match. Puckett owns one nice pair of gray slacks, worn only to gathers. When he's not working he wears a purple tunic (lacking in sleeves) and his worn-out pants. The boy always wears sandals, even in the freezing cold of winter. He tends not to dress too finely for gathers, wearing only his nice pants and his casual purple tunic. Even for nice occasions, he seems to have just woken up after sleeping in his clothes.
Personality: A cheery, helpful young boy. Though 17, he has the mentality of a child. He likes eating sweets, and enjoys sneaking them out of the kitchens even more. He is prone to fits of giggling, especially when people fall. His sense of humor seems to be lacking, as even the simplest jokes will bring tears to his dark eyes. He can be overwhelming at times, shadowing others and asking them questions. Most find themselves to endeared by this boy to tell him off, though their nerves are severely tested.
Insults slide easily off this boy, though he will stop a moment to think them over. He is, however, sensitive and prone to having his feelings hurt when scolded. Puck cries easily, especially when he believes he has made a large mistake. He often wallows in self-pity more than he tries to remedy his mistakes. He is easily fascinated and easily amused.
Puck struggles to have everyone like him. He lives with the mentality that if one person finds issue with you, there’s something wrong with you. He goes out of his way to please strangers, which tend to eat up his time. This often leads to him being scolded by his superior, because his work slacks when he’s busy tending to strangers.
History: Puckett grew up in Telgar hold, raised only by his ailing mother. Until he was 11, he was unaware of how his mother’s condition was steadily deteriorating. When he was old enough, he began his apprenticeship inside the hold kitchens. He wanted to lighten his mother’s burden by providing for the pair. He became adept and sneaking food out of the kitchen, hoping that his mother’s condition would improve if she ate more. More often then naught, his mother wouldn’t have an appetite and instead she would ask him to eat whatever he had taken.
At fifteen, his mother passed away. His only living relative was his aunt, a Greenrider at Telgar Weyr. He was sent away to live with her, months before the plague descended. Puck fell ill and suffered several weeks, but recovered. When he awoke he was utterly confused and couldn’t place where he was. After a few days, he managed to remember what had happened to him and why he had come to live in the Weyr. He began working in the stables as a way to provide for himself, because his aunt really didn’t have the time or the energy to deal with her nephew. The runnerbeasts were better company than any rider. Puckett worked hard to keep them healthy, which made up for his inability to help his mother recover. He felt very successful at what he was doing and working allowed him to take his mind off his mother. He missed her terribly, but he wasn't completely alone. Some nights, however, he would sneak out of the weyr to sleep in the stable. This often got him scolded, which most often lead to tears. The nights were always the most difficult when he was unable to keep his thoughts from trailing off. It was especially difficult because he had no person he could turn to for comfort.
The passing of two years allowed him to numb himself to the thoughts of his mother, which kept the pain away. The less he talked about her, the less she came to mind. The less she came to mind, the less he missed her. He also started taking sleeping draughts so that as soon as his day was done, he would pass out and wouldn't have anytime to think. He has become rather dependent on them, though he doesn't speak of it to others. Since there's no one there to point out he's addicted, he's in denial about it. His recent status as candidate has also made him busier than usual with the addition of new chores.
Puckett is rather terrified to stand, especially because of the violence associate with the last standing. He likes to avoid the subject all together, though recent events have put the Weyr into a rather excitable state of mind. His aunt is pushing him to stand with the newest clutch and he has finally agreed to it. He's still rather undecided to his own feeling about being a rider; if it will be fun or if it will be terrifying. It's too late though, he's already agreed.
Pet(s): None
Other: Puckett’s lack of interest in either gender is contributed to damage done by the plague, though his child-like nature also plays a part in this lack.
Dragon:

The Amaranthus Egg
Impressee: Puck/Puckett (summonergirl001)
Hatchling Name:
Hex Code: #3355AA
Final Size: 24.7 dragonfeet
Hatchling Description:
Three shades color the Persevering Blue's hide: a middling blue that is bright but not obnoxious, a soft white shade, and a very, very dark blue. The three work together in harmony, the whitish shade gliding smoothly along his underbelly and down his tail, the dark blue masking his face, his forepaws, his wings, and gliding down his spine to the tip of his tail. The dark shade threatens to overwhelm the other two, but doesn't quite pull it off. The blue is on the smallish side, though his face has strong bones and is rather handsome in a roguish way. He has a quirky tilt to his head, not precisely playful but certainly friendly.
Personality: Quirath is very possibly the most determined dragon Telgar Weyr (Pern) will ever see, evidenced by his methodical stomping of his shell - his first obstacle in life. His perseverance knows no bounds. Never will Quirath give up, no matter what the challenge. Sometimes the blue will fail, for he isn't the biggest or the strongest of dragons, nor even the smartest, but because of his great effort it will be a noble (if highly depressing for the dragon) failing. He is made up of pure heart, and will never stop trying.
Quirath's perseverance, while an admirable trait, can sometimes give way to sheer stubbornness. Simply put, the dragon will drive himself over the edge, and often. One of his biggest goals is to better himself, which will lead to extensive hours spent training. The blue desires more muscle and more stamina, and he will do drills even outside of wingtraining to master the art of Threadfighting (not grasping that only experience can fulfill that particular goal). In his effort to become stronger he will often push his limits and reap the physical consequences: pulled ligaments, strained wings, weakness from ignored hunger, and total physical exhaustion, though his mind will still be raring to go.
Quirath's determination and stubbornness don't stop at the physical level, however. Once he has an idea set in his brain he simply will not let it go, not for anything. If he wants to fly straight to the Southern continent without stopping, he will definitely try, and only experience will show him that it's impossible. However, what will his failure do? It will spur him to gain more stamina and endurance. It's a never ending cycle with Quirath. That's not to say that his excessive training won't pay off, however. After a few turns of maturity, in which he's constantly working to better his physique, he will be on par with a brown - almost. He is very much the Rocky Balboa of dragonkind.
Quirath's strange amount of pursuance aside, he is an all-around amiable dragon, being very friendly. He leans a bit toward the playful side, enjoying a romp in the lake or an air race with his clutchmates. While he desires to be the best, he can be persuaded to play or relax if other dragons are somehow involved. He adores company and is quite sweet, really. Quirath will make friends easily, even if some of the bronzes or larger browns view him as a bit of a sissy - only to be proved wrong as Quirath's muscle tone improves.
This blue's bond with His is a simplistic, loving bond. He loves Puck and Puck loves him, and neither of them will take much time to analyze it as anything deeper than that. Not to say that it isn't the profound love of a Bonded pair, that is, but it's merely a matter of course to both of them. Quirath's loyalty to his Puck is immense and anyone that harms or hurts Puck emotionally will see the dragon's wrath. He would never outright attack but that won't stop him from showing signs of aggression, hopefully enough to remove the tormentor from their vicinity. Quirath has no qualms about calling on a gold for help, either, when it comes to His.
Flights will be quite the affair for the dragon. He will attend most of them, flying until either he has caught or he nearly falls to the ground from exhaustion - no if's, and's, or but's. It can be quite an ordeal for Puck, who must stay conscious enough to order his dragon to land should he become too tired, for a fall from such heights would surely be devastating. It will be difficult for Puck at first, as Quirath isn't prone to just giving up, but the boy must find a way to overpower his dragon mentally and stick to his plan. Otherwise, Quirath could easily suffer. As their bond grows and Quirath matures, hopefully the dragon will come to terms with his limits. Until then, it will be up to Puck.
Quirath will be an adept Threadfighter after a few turns of flying against it, and will work his way up to the high wings - completing a goal of his.
Hatching Message: The Amaranthus Egg felt the stirring pressure of life within, and knew that the time was now. Its long struggle to reach the outside world, to make itself known and to be heard, was over. It was time! Its efforts had come to fruition! With quick eagerness the egg began to crack and chip. In surprisingly little time, a little clawed foot emerged - shooting outward, pushing and pulling at the surrounding shell. A moment later a tail made its own hole, followed by the hatchling's other three feet and then, with a final burst of effort, the shell fell open. The little blue that rolled to his feet was not the first to hatch, but he was certainly one of the more enthusiastic. As he raised his head to stare around, there was an unmistakable air of triumph to the way he held himself. He'd done it! However, despite his victory, he seemed to be disinclined to let the matter rest. Without haste, without malice, without anger, he calmly began to pound every last shred and shard of his shell that he could find into dust - showing absolutely no sign of stopping, and exercising great care not to miss a single piece. His eyes whirled happily as he went about his task, and he made soft little noises of pleasure and vindication. Ah... bliss. Nothing better than pounding the remains of your opponent into dust.
Public Impression Message: Methodically, the Persevering Blue looked around him at the now thin gathering of Candidates. He knew exactly where His was; he could feel him in his proximity - a harmless, amiable presence. The blue stepped out of his mess, flicking shell about with his tail as he moved. It was hard going, at first, as the young dragon learned how to orientate himself. At every fall he simply warbled in consternation and got back to his feet, slowly making his way toward the Candidate of his choice. A certain greenrider in the crowd cheered the loudest as the blue looked up at the boy, eyes flashing in a bright, swirling rainbow. His perseverance had paid off; he had Impressed!
Private Impression Message: In Puck's brain, there was triumph. It came suddenly and forcefully, reminiscent of someone pushing on a door only to have it open suddenly and fall through the threshold due to their momentum. But there it was, a presence sprawled in his mind, steadily infusing Puck's mental visage with love. I've finally found you! Puck's Quirath has made it, but it was hard to do! The shell never wanted to let me go. My hunger was too big for it, I think, so here I am. Will we get food now? Quirath STARVES. It was undeniable; the dragon was famished.
Mind Voice: The voice of Quirath is a voice that, despite all odds, will always reach His or whomever the dragon's object of conversation is. It is mildly high for a male dragon, but not so much as to be grating, filled with a singular determined fervor. When received, the consciousness feels as if the voice has tried and succeeded to break through the mind's barriers, and would go farther if necessary. It is reminiscent of a victory in some strange way; by speaking alone, the dragon has triumphed.

Perseverance Vs. Stubbornness - Author's Notes
Quirath was a fun dragon to write. As I examined Puck, I realized that a dragon with perseverance would compliment him well. Quirath is also a fun, friendly beast - when he isn't driving himself into the ground - and I figured that he and Puck would be a good match.
As far as the honorific goes, Su can choose whatever she'd like, but I thought Puck would be cute. -is shot-
Quirath very much reminds me of Rocky Balboa, in the sense that he trains, and can take a beating and still get back up. Originally Orideth (the Generous Brown) had reminded me of Rocky but instead I gave the reference to Quirath; he seemed to deserve it much more, in my opinion.
I attempted to give his personality some wiggle room, providing the extreme but giving Puck a chance to temper it. However, Puck's personality is going to have to grow and the character is going to have to develop into a more determined individual, for only a mind like Quirath's could hold him back. (There, I've gone from talking about character development to forcing it!) Hopefully this will happen during Weyrlinghood, or Quirath's first flight could very well be disastrous. Unless Su wanted it that way. ;D
I can't wait to see how this turns out!
