Since this is my first review here, I'll explain how I review movies by describing the purpose of each individual thought section.

1. The Story: My thoughts on the story...Obviously.

2. The Characters: My thoughts on the protagonist(s) and antagonist(s).

3. The Scare Factor: How scary I thought the movie was.

4. The Splatter Factor: How cool I thought the deaths were (If deaths are a major focus of the movie, as in slasher flicks).

5. Ultimate Rating: My score for the movie, out of 5. The ratings include and detail:

0 out of 5 means unwatchable filth, like Freddy Got Fingered (The only movie I have ever given a 0 out of 5 haha).
1 out of 5 means craptastic
2 out of 5 means bad
3 out of 5 means decent, meh; neither good nor bad
4 out of 5 means good
5 out of 5 means fantastic
6 out of 5 means a new top favorite of mine

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, onwards to the actual review!

p.s. I don't act like I'm a professional reviewer or anything. I'm not going to go into deep discussion for my reviews like I'm some pretentious douchebag. Just the basic facts.

~

My thoughts on...

The Story:

The story, albeit intriguing, falls short of A Nightmare on Elm Street greatness because of a plot that's too convoluted for a slasher flick and scenes/dailogue that shows you Wes Craven just doesn't understand how modern teenagers work, let alone speak.

The Characters:

The Protagonist(s) - Like said, although Wes Craven doesn't understand how modern teenagers work, he does create characters that are easy to like, such as the main protagonist Bug and his best friend Alex. Other characters, though, you're going to have to excuse for their cheesy dialogue and/or laughable demeanors. One last thing: The teens actually look like teens in this movie!

The Antagonist(s) - The Riverton Ripper may just be the best aspect of this movie. Very reminiscent of Freddy and Ghostface personality wise (Oh the one liners he spews), he(?) looks like an even scarier version of Rob Zombie...But that's just the costume. In saying that, I also want to mention this: The Riverton Ripper is not at all what you expect...him/her/it to be. And it's that fact which makes the movie especially confusing...But I don't want to go into any more major details for fear of spoilers.

The Scare Factor: Other than a few twitch scares, sadly, this movie wasn't able to scare me, let alone even unnerve me a little. A shame.

The Splatter Factor: The Splatter Factor is just as disappointing as The Scare Factor, with no original deaths what-so-ever...Or even entertaining deaths for that matter. A bland stab here, a boring slit there, and that's the entirety of the movie's deaths. But at least there is indeed splatter involved, haha.

Ultimate Rating: I'm split about this movie, so I'm going to give it a 3 out of 5. I do recommend giving it a view...But not until it comes to a redbox near you.

How's the suspense? Wes Craven doesn't always nail it on the scary bits but even Red Eye was suspenseful as f*ck and that wasn't even a horror flick.

Better really, really late than never. xd

The suspense is ok. There are some scenes that keep you on edge, but nothing compared to Red Eye, which I agree is suspenseful as ********.
