I don't know if this is very popular, but I know a manga/anime series by the name of Rozen Maiden. The artwork is SUPERB. Check it out and google it, people. It's centered around special dolls called Rozen Maiden, and they wear goth loli outfits, including a kodona. Does anyone know this series? Right now I'm into this anime, and the story is kind of dark, yet comedic at some times--but always original. And yes, there's a manga for this, too.

Yep. I'm going to try to cosplay as Suigin Tou, if I have time to do the outfit. Which I don't think I will, sadly. It's just a dream. :'(

Started watching the sequel series yet?

i dont like lolita or girly anime. its dumb. i like violent action sci-fi wtf kind of stuff.
my favorite animes are
blue sub #6
lain
outlaw star
boogiepop phantom
scryed (manga only!!)
tenchi
eva was prretty cool but,
raxzephon is definatley better

yeah... nothing glamorus.
the only girly things i like are sailor moon and x.

i must admit though an idiot i know has a picture from paradise kiss on her binder and the art is appealing to me.
but kissing, drama, cross dressing, gay boys, skinny men.... cant stand them.

if any one knows a lolita series that is violent and psylogical, mabye a dose of sci fi with real men and no cross dressing tell me, id so be all over that.

I've read about it on Wikipedia. 3nodding It sounds very interesting! I'll try to read it as soon as I can.

Edit: And now...I'm completely addicted to it.

Actually, cloudy-doll, Rozen Maiden is pretty violent at times. It's about these dolls who were made to play the "Alice Game" and destroy one another to become closer to the "Father". I never finished watching the first series, and the second series is playing in Japan right now, but it was fairly decent from what I saw.

Lots of random powers, enslavement, and sweetly-dress, porcelain-esque dolls. I'm not sure if it counts as Lolita, however, as they're.. dolls. And Lolita clothing is based off of those dolls. So it'd be a bit circular thinking? Or something? Either way, the series is pretty interesting for at least a first-look. Lots of exploding windows. Haha.

One of the dolls [they're all girls] is dressed in what would be traditionally male clothing, but that's about it. There's no real romance [the male protagonist seems to have a bit of a crush on his doll. Which is a bit strange.], and definitely no gay men, crossdressers or whatnot [all of the humans involved are in the early to mid teens and so unexposed to such things].

I'd recommend at least watching the first episode. If you don't like that, you won't like the rest-- but if you do enjoy it, might as well give the rest a shot!

So, this isn't an anime about Lolitas, but in the show "Lemone Angel Project", there seems to be a character who dresses in the style. I've yet to see more than brief glimpses of her [she appears in both the opening and ending, and we catch a look at her in her "every day" clothes in the first episode], but will definitely post up about her here if she really is what...I thought.

LAP is about idol singers. So I'm takin' this one with a grain of salt. Well. More like a spoonful-- but we'll see how it goes.

Actually, Tenchi was the first anime that I got into. I don't count Sailor Moon among the "first" because of how severely it was editted. Tenchi, I bought before it hit CN and watched both dubbed and subtitled versions. I still lurk in a Tenchi Fanfiction site's IRC channel to this day-- mostly to talk. I hate Fanfiction with a passion, now.

Reviewing lemons about Sasami and Ayeka gettin' it on will do that to you.

As for the others, I looooooved Boogiepop Phantom [a friend gave me the boxed set as a random surprise once] and Eva's ... okay. Slow to get going and doesn't really pull me into it, much. I really am dying to finish Lain, though-- which is odd, since it's slow, too. It just grabbed me, I guess. As for RahXephon.. eh. I didn't.. really like it. It was overhyped, in my opinion, and I've seen the first two episodes so many times that I wanna puke. It was just too slow and too .. eh .. for me. I don't much go for mecha series, though, so it falls to the wayside with other series people raved about [ie: Eva, Escaflowne, Gundam] in terms of when and how much I've seen.

In terms of what I'm getting into right now, though, I am lovin' on Jigoku Shoujo [Hell Girl]. It's from the same creator as 100 Stories [don't remember the other name it has, sorry] and reminds me a bit of Boogiepop Phantom combined with Petshop of Horrors and 100 Stories. Very good. Gorgeous animation, voices and stories. A bit repetative [each episode is about someone making the choice to get revenge on another and the consequences they face], but that's changing as they get further into the series.

Another, almost equally dark series I'm watching right now is Blood+. It's the TV series based on the same story as Blood: The Last Vampire. Far better than the movie, I have to say. It has plot! But it's still in quasi-old-school anime-style. The mouths are delicious.

I'm also watching Magikano, a parody on harem anime [like Tenchi] and magical girl series. It pokes fun at fanboys with overthetop fanservice and is filled with witches in short skirts blowing s**t up. Makes me laugh soooo hard.

blood was awsome it makes me happy to know they made a series.
i hear that alot when i talk to other people who have seen blood "oh yeah violent but noooo story"

the only good fan ficton i have ever read (i have not read many though but just looking at some fans you can tell half are brain dead) is a gorillaz one about 2d becoming violent and taking revenge on murdoc with a knife. that was like.... many years ago, when i was in the 5th grade.....

digimon rocked too. man i like missed the last 10 mins of boogiepop phantom because my parents are so gad damn loud and needy. i believe i was putting a frozen meal in the microwave for my dad when the last one aired. he cant cook a frozen meal himself because he is too lazy. rolleyes

Yea. I watched all of BPP over the course of about two days. ^_^;

Andrew let me take a peek at his house one day, got so hooked, he gave it to me [he had two copies] and I finished it between work and such before the next day had ended. It was quite enjoyable. I absolutely love the concepts behind each and every character.

Y.. eah. Now I'm just waiting for the next Blood+, the next Mushishi [ohgodthat'sanothergoodone], the next LAP and the next Jugoku Shoujo. Mmmmn. Sexeh stuff, all.

So I just finished watching the first episode of "Kagihime Monogatori - Eikyuu Alice Rondo", "Kagihime" for short. So far, all I can tell you about it is that it's about girls from all over who are "Alice Users" who are fighting one another to get ahold of "the Endless Alice". This, apparently, is the "lost" volume of the Alice books [Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass] and has the magic ability to finish any story and grant any wish.

The main character, Kiraha Aruto, is a dreamer-sort of kid and has been wishing that he could read this mysteriously lost book. He's even started writing his own version, he's so obsessed with Alice. One night, while writing late, he sees a girl with wings and rabbit ears go flying across the moon. He assumes, for God knows what reason, that she is Alice and chases her.

She manages to almost elude him, vanishing into the school library up the hill. When he enters after her, it seems that she and another girl are fighting with what appear to be giant keys. He's confused, and accidentally ends up involved in the fight-- the girl he's assumed to be Alice ends up winning, plunges her key into the other girl's breast, and starts whispering what sounds like bizarre, bad poetry. She "unlocks" the vaquished girl's heart, takes a page from her story, and sends her back to the real world.

The next day, she shows up at Aruto's school while he's reading a book in the library to talk to him. He invites her to his home later that day, much to the chagrin of his impossibly jealous younger sister. They call her "Kiraha-chan", which makes no sense, since that would make her name "Kiraha Kiraha", but whatever. She's a pouty, crabby little Loligoth, who also is apparently an Alice User. She and Arisu, the girl whom Aruto assumed was "Alice", duke it out in the streets later in the day. Once again, Arisu wins-- but Aruto stops her and demands that she not harm his sister.

After this encounter, they decide to team up together to find more pages of the lost book.

The most interesting thing about this series has to be either the music, character designs or henshin sequences. Those three things are all fine and dandy-- the style, however, and the voices, subplots and storyline make me think of a hentai game brought to anime. Which wouldnt shock me if it's the case. All of the girls, including little junior high Kiraha, have huge breasts and hips and the henshin scenes, while beautiful, have sexual innuendo plastered all over their rainbow asses.

Anyway, it's interesting for a first look-- so I'm going to take a peek at the next episode. AND NOW! As if all this reading wasn't enough-- I have screen captures for you!

User Image
Arisu
and Kiraha
look up at one another in the opening.

User Image
Aruto is their white rabbit. Haha.

User Image
Side by side, with their keys drawn.

User Image
The requisite "Maiden in the Moon" shot.

User Image
Arisu vs. Random Chick in the Library.

User Image
Arisu's won by now-- she's unlocking the other girl's heart ... ah. Let's skip the moaning and flushed cheek moment, shall we?

User Image
There are the pages of the girl's "heart story". One of the pages can be taken out, has to be taken out, to complete "the Endless Alice".

User Image
Aruto's little sister, Kiraha-chan in her "after school" clothes. Her uniform is the same as everyone else's, but at home, she's a little Loligoth.

User Image
Kiraha-chan after henshin.

User Image
Let's agree to disagree-- and help one another out.

Some of the other Alices to appear soon:

User Image
She should be shown in the second episode. She has a massive crush on Kiraha-chan. Like. Creepily huge.

User Image
Aruto and Arisu run into this one in the Library. Dunno when she'll be showing up as an Alice.

User Image
Little Red and the Wolf had a baby? I have no idea what this one is.

User Image
Puppet-chick! With a giant watch! I'm curious as to when she'll arrive.

User Image
I love this design. I think, with the long hair and tower-key, her name will be a joke on Rapunzel? It's a bit skanky for "Lolita" or even "Alice", though. Not nearly as bad as the dominatrix-Alice, but .. I'll leave that for another day. smile

You can download this series using BitTorrent by searching on
AnimeSuki.com or, more directly, through Nameless-Anime Fansubs. Happy hunting!
