~ Basic Rules of the Guild ~

Havencrest is a relatively liberal Guild, we welcome a lot of opinions, various styles of Roleplay and every individual is welcome to create a world that is fun for them. Sadly we do need to lay down some ground rules simply to keep a level of peace and order.

1. We are a friendly guild; by all means create a villain and be a villain, but once the Roleplay is over be civil to one another, Flaming and Trolling will not be tolerated inside or outside the Guild.

2. We have an OOC character forum for just such a thing, we don't mind one or two bars of chatter under a RP post as long as it's relevant. Anything more keep it to the correct forum or PM's.

3. As a guild we don't support 'Taking it to the PM's' as it where; if you must please don't post 'Take it to the PM's' or anything of that vain, simply take it to the PM's. We all know what your up to and technically it's a violation of Gaia's ToS so if we know about it we'll deal with it.

4. Try and include everybody, if you're in the middle of an adventure and somebody turns up, don't ignore them allow them to get involved. On the other hand if you are wanting to join in a RP in progress, remember you're a guest, don't make it all about you.

5. There is a level of command in this guild, if you have a problem with the Rules or another Guild Member approach the most active Crew Member. If you have a problem with a Crew Member you can contact me directly, I'm always happy to help. If you have a problem with 'me' you can contact our Captain 'Oni Ignasha'. And if you have a problem with the Captain you can either quote the ToS or leave the Guild.

6. As suggested above the one all powerful force in this Guild is Gaia's very own Terms of Service. These rules overshadow all others and breaking the ToS will result in a warning at the very least.

7. Regarding the content of posts, providing violence, bad language and suggestive behavior are kept minimal and necessary then we shouldn't have a problem. Excessive use of any of the above will be monitored and warned.

~ Roleplaying in Havencrest ~

Havencrest is a Roleplaying guild before all else and we encourage anybody who wants to RP to do so whether you like to write great long tails for every post once a day. Or get together with a few buddies and have a quick adventure whilst your supposed to be in class or doing coursework. Either way we don't bind as long as you have fun, (and the Guild stays active!)

Following are a couple of points that effect the Roleplay aspect of the Guild.

Starting your own Adventure

We like to think that Havencrest is simply the canvas for you to paint your own adventure. If you have an idea for a story go with it, rope in as many individuals as you can introduce beasts and villains and set loose! (Remember, if you add a new creature add it to the Library, and if your super villain survives your beating tell us and we can turn him into an NPC!)

There are just three things to remember!

1. If you want to build a new location, a temple, a factory, a part of the forest, just follow the same template used to create a home or shop! This is your place you can do what you want with it and if it falls down after your adventure so what!?

2. If you want to use the pre-built locations for your Roleplay by all means do, but don't destroy or damage them without prior permission. (For example if you want to start a brawl in The Whitelight Tavern don't break anything more than a few tables and chairs without consulting us first, lol)

3. And finally same goes for the NPC's, they are there to be used but we have 'big' plans for a lot of them so don't kill or cripple them without first asking our permission!

Keep the Story Going...

Following are a few aspects that we allow and encourage in our guild in order to keep the ball rolling:

Multiple Characters: If you would like to introduce more than one character to the Guild feel free to do so up to a maximum of 3. In order to keep the characters separate each must have their own entry in the characters log and each must have a text colour devoted to their posts, (excluding yellow or cyan as they are illegible.) At the beginning of each post you must put the name (Russell: and so on...) And finally each character must post separately, if two of your characters are posting in the same thread you cannot combine posts, (hey you get more gold that way anyway!)

Bending the Timeline: Nothings worse that being involved with a dwindling thread whilst another adventure gets going else where. Don't sweat it, unless the story lines clash we don't care if you want your character to be spread across the forum, just make sure it all adds up, and don't forget the story you left behind!

Puppetry: Ok; we encourage this if a player is leaving the guild or going away for a long time with no clue when they're going to be back. Providing you have permission from the owner of the character, one person may take control of anthers character. It is up to them what the 'carer' can and can't do with their character, (kill, maim, sleep with, etcetera.) All we ask is that if you are leaving and don't want somebody else man-handling your creation, bow out of the Roleplay; don't leave others waiting for you to come back and post.

Newbs, n00bz and Illiteracy

We do not shun newbies here; in fact we gladly welcome any up and coming RPer, but if you are new to Gaia or RP please do actually learn to RP. Be willing to accept if someone tells you that you're acting like a God (that's 'acting like a d**k' in layman terms) and learn from your mistakes. If you have any questions about RP feel free to PM me personally, or ask questions in the help thread.

Then we have 'n00bz', I'm afraid these guys are very much 'un'-welcome, those that refuse to string a proper sentence together using real words are nothing but a pain in the arse and I ask that you don't burden us with your rotten txt talk. I also ask that others please don't respond with a torrent of abuse, but just ignore them and carry on the RP, thank you. If you come here and really want to RP and make an effort, you're welcome, if n00bish has become a ghastly habit you wish to shake, then feel free to RP with us but expect to go cold turkey. Childish responses and deliberately rotten spelling is not welcome here and will result in a warning.

Alright, personally I’m dyslexic, and nothing gets my back up more than those who do nothing but correct every spelling mistake and every grammar error they pick up on... So please, if you're one of those spell checker types, either put up or clear off.
Though all you others, don’t take this as an excuse to get lazy in your typing, I like to type in word and use the spell checker, (or Firefox has an excellent spell checker.) So to all of you, watch your spelling, and don’t keep commenting on errors!

The Evil Ones

I found this in an RP thread once and believe it to be timeless; so following are a few examples of who we don't want spoiling out RP's!

Aimbotters: The people who never miss a single shot no matter how hard it is.
Twinks: The people who have absurdly strong powers.
Min-Maxers: The people who 'balance' their characters by having a massive but irrelevant weakness and massive powers.
Miss Cleos: The people who use Out Of Character knowledge to get an edge.
McFlys: The people who do things in hindsight.
PuppetMasters: The people who RP other people's characters for them, (without permission.)
DayDreamers: The people who RP completely irrelevant things.
Shoe Elves: The people who RP actions and time against others while the others aren't present.
Revisionists: The people who ignore or alter RP's that they don't like.
SpeedHackers: The people who RP an absurdly time consuming sequence occurring between other people's actions.
Oxymorons: The people who play as characters whom are completely impossible.
Baghdad Bobbitt's: The people who arbitrarily declare themselves the winner with instant death attacks.
Gaseous Snakes: The people who've taken actions before they start RPing.
Zoicites: The people who alter their character as needed for the situation.
Trinities: The people who gain abilities as they need them with no prior exposure.
Quakers: The people who pick-up things that spawn from seemingly nowhere.
Munchers: The people who assume an opponents reaction instead of waiting for a response.

If you believe anybody has adopted one of these persona's feel free to give them a friendly warning and point them here, if there is continuous action tell one of us and we will monitor and warn!

~ Building a Home in Havencrest ~

Havencrest already has many places for the aspiring Roleplayer to enjoy, but it wouldn't be much of a city if you couldn't set up home here! Due to the architects from all across a number of universes it is possible to create the home of your dreams whether that be a mud hut out in the woods, and underground lair or modern city apartment home.

In order to keep the Guild neat we have layouts for buildings that we wish to use so please copy the follow.

Firstly make sure that the first three posts are 'Ornate' style, anything else can be edited except that!

The First Post

The first post is the title and image, if you don't have an image don't sweat trying to find one, it doesn't matter! If you have a special title image you can use go ahead; otherwise stick too:

Naturally choose a colour that better suits your home!

The Second Post

This will contain a description of your home, it needs to be detailed but doesn't have to be massively long; about a paragraph should do! Remember to add any interesting details.

The Third Post

This is a tricky one, this post is for any NPCs staying in your home; even if you don't have any NPC's the top entry should be your character. All images should be tektek but they can be as your character would be at home, they don't have to be the same as your avi. For the description a short paragraph of your character living, not their whole bio... I hope that makes sense, lol!

One other thing to remember is that every other image needs to be flipped so that the NPC is facing inwards!

Building a Store

If you would like it is possible to open a little shop in the Havencrest streets with an apartment above it. In this case all you need to change is the second thread and add two separate descriptions, one for the store and one for your apartment!

Building Anything Else

We are certain you will likely come up with something we've missed, simply follow the above guidelines and you can create almost anything. Be mindful of where you locate your building, whether it be inside or outside of the City. If you want to build something 'big' please check with us first thought!
