The Story

This story takes place at the start of the Time War, before it became Time Locked. With the Daleks still involved in a civil war between the Supreme Dalek and Davros, the Time Lords are grossly overconfident. Little do they know a secret meeting between Davros, the Supreme Dalek, and a Time Lord traitor took place. The kidnapping of a young Time Lady could lead to disaster.

Characters wanted for the story

Romana - the Preisdent of Gallifrey
Time Lord traitor - Time Lord traitors are quite common but is it someone known like the Master, the Rani, or Rassilon, or someone new?
Other Time Lords - Before the Time War, they thought themselves invincible. By the end of Time War, war had become an obsession to them.
The Nightmare Child - Who or what is The Nightmare Child? All that is known is Dalek Caan rescued Davros from the jaws of the Nightmare Child.
Davros - Davros created the Daleks, but they turned on him. With his white Daleks, loyal to him, he has fought his way back.
Daleks loyal to Davros (white Daleks) - Although greatly outnumbered they start out with the advantage.
Supreme Dalek - In this story, the Supreme Dalek is red. Most Daleks see the Supreme Dalek as their leader. Davros like all other non-Dalek lifeforms, is seen as inferior.
Daleks loyal to the Supreme Dalek - Grey Daleks are the lowest rank, Black Daleks are squadron leaders, and Gold Daleks are platoon leaders.

Other Possibilities

Time sensitive aliens - Species that can sense time being disturbed.
Humans - (Please provide explanation of how they got there)

The Time Lord were the oldest and most advanced civillization in the universe. Although they had internal struggles occasionally, the mere though of being conquered by an outside force were absurd to most of them. It was for this reason that a young Time Lady who had barely reached adulthood was the only guard on duty. Few Time Lords have exposed a Time Lady in her early 90s to such great dangers, but hardly anyone knew what great dangers awaited her.

She had no weapons because no one thought they were needed. Her job was more of a formality, an ancient tradtion that streched back further than any of them could remember. All it would take for them to learn was a trip in time back to the days of Rassilon, but such trips were foribben. Creating a paradox would be far too easy. As a result, few people remembered why the tradions were in place.

Myxelliasarinaughtallis leaned back in her chair and looked out towards the hall. As usual, it was empty as usual. Hardly anyone took security seriously anymore, but it was still a job she had to do.

A faint noise came from the other side of the door. She listened closely for the noise to happen again, but all she could hear was the sound of her own breathing. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary, yet she could sense something was not right.

"Something is out there!" Myxe said to herself.

She glanced at the button that would sound the alarm, in case she had to use it. Then she turned her attention back to the door.

Without warning, the door swung open and a pair of white Daleks entered the city. For a split second, Myxe was in shock. It was only a split second, but it was enough. One of the Daleks, stunned her before she had a chance to sound the alarm and the other one carried her limp but still living body away. The first Dalek went on to explore the city sending back any information.

Watching all of it on a monitor screen, was the Time Lord traitor who had sold out his own people. Internal threats were alive and well and now external threats were too.

The white Dalek, the color of the Daleks loyal to Davros, glided through the city, sending back whatever information it could find. Most of the information was trivial or unuseful but it had orders to examine everything. It left the computers alone because they were still protected by a bioscan. However, the hardware had been left unprotected. Pieces of TARDIS were throughly scanned. The Daleks would soon be able to copy the Time Lords superior time travel technology. The Dalek was spotted several times but no of them bothered to do anything. Most Time Lords did not know what a Dalek was and had no idea it came from a source outside Gallifrey.

Hours later, someone finally alerted security. A team of security guards easily defeated the Dalek. They took the Dalek parts to the President who recognized her enemy. It was time to summon the Doctor.

The Doctor

"Well, old girl, seems we're on our own, again." The Doctor spoke softly as he laid a hand on the brass-colored edge of his TARDIS console. He felt the reassuring warmth under his palm and knew that the slight vibration was his 'old girl' trying to comfort him. "I just wish I could remember why."

The Doctor didn't enjoy traveling alone. Things were always harder when he was on his own, especially in this incarnation. It was to easy for him to go too far when he didn't have someone watching him, too easy for him to forget what he was fighting for when he didn't have someone to protect. Not to mention that his constant affliction of amnesia seemed to get worse when he was alone, when there was no one around to keep him focused and his mind alert. For instance, at the moment he couldn't remember where he'd just been. He knew he'd met Susan again, along with her son Alex, but he couldn't remember why. Worse yet, he couldn't even recall who he'd last traveled with. Someone with an 'L' name he thought. Lindsey, or Lacey. Something like that. But where was she now? He wasn't sure.

Sighing, the Doctor moved around the console, pressing buttons and flicking switches as he prepared to set a new course. He moved more slowly now with none of his usual excitement and joy. He really didn't like traveling alone. He wasn't really sure why. He'd started this incarnation traveling alone after he left Grace. He'd been so hopeful and excited then. But he felt lost and alone now.

Maybe he just needed a change of pace. Yes, he could travel somewhere exciting and loud, somewhere with a lot of people... "Ah, ha! Yes, as good a place as any." With renewed vigor, he set the controls for Episilon IV, a vacation planet that was based entirely around a sport very similar to cricket. He'd earned a box-seat ticket in a game of dice some years ago and now was as good a time as any to 'cash in.'

Before the Doctor could complete the sequence, a blaring claxon sounded through the TARDIS... The cloister bell! Concerned, he pulled the video screen down to eye level to read the incoming message... he frowned at the symbol staring back at him; the Seal of Rassilon. The Time Lords hadn't bothered him in some time. "What could they want?"

Not bothering to read the message, he reset the coordinates to the familiar sequence, "ten-zero-eleven-zero-zero by zero-two from galactic zero centre." He hadn't been back to his home planet since... He frowned. Surely this didn't have something to do with Zagreus and the Anti-Time? He knew Romana had warned him about coming back to N-Space, but he'd dealt with the problem. He was no longer a threat to anybody... Well, not because of Zagreus, anyway... He considered ignoring the call, but realized that part of him really wanted to go home. For the first time in a long while, wanted to see Gallifrey. Perhaps he was more lonely than he thought.

With reluctance, he flipped two more switches, banged the inner cylinder and pressed the dematerilization button. Moments later a harsh wheezing sound filled an empty corridor of the Citadel.

When he stepped out of the T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), he was immediately greeted by Romana and half a dozen guards. One of the guards handed a complicated piece of machinery to the Doctor for him to examine.

"A Dalek was somehow able to enter the city," Romana said gravely. "While examining it, we discovered it had obtained and relayed large amounts of information about TARDIS harware. This will greatly improve the Daleks time travel abilities. The software was protected by a bioscan which leads me to another problem."

A hologram of a young Time Lady appeared directly between them, slowly rotating.

"Myxelliasarinaughtallis disappeared about the time the Dalek entered the city," she said. "She is believed to have been kidnapped. Knowing the Daleks, it will not be long before they are able to copy the bioscan they need."

Two guards entered the room and stood at attention. A few seconds later, two other guards left in the direction the previous guards had come.

"If they can break into the city once, the can do it again," she continued. "With access to TARDIS software, even the history of Gallifrey itself will be in danger. Although I tightened security, I get the feeling it will not be enough. You have had the most experience with the Daleks so I was hoping you would have an idea or two."

The hologram of Myxe disappeared and was replaced by a hologram of the domed city and the surrounding area. All was calm, for the moment.

The Doctor

Not bothering to check the scanner, The Doctor gave his beloved ship a gentle pat and then headed out the door, snapping it shut behind him a secure 'click.' He spun around and then jumped back, startled by the group surrounding him. He hadn't expected such a grand welcome. Trying to regain his composure, he frowned as Romana began talking rapidly and was quickly confused... Maybe he should have read the message. They clearly expected him too.

Looking over the bit a machinery in his hands, it didn't take long for the Doctor to realize what it was. "A Dalek..." he muttered, only half-listening to the Lady President as he ran a hand along the device. As Romana wrapped up her first tirade, he finally looked up in shock.

"Wait. A Dalek was here? On Gallifrey? Here, in the city?" The Doctor couldn't believe it. A Dalek had never set foot, or their metal base, on Gallifrey before, at least as far as he knew. They'd never been that bold. The thought actually frightened the Doctor. If the Daleks felt confident enough to actually send a scout to the heart of Time Lord society... he shuddered at the thought. "But how? What about the defenses? How could a Dalek get in to the city undetected?"

The Doctor was then distracted by the hologram of Myxe. He'd never met the girl before, but he could tell she was young and her outfit clearly marked her as a member of the Royal Guard. He feared for the girl. He knew first hand how Daleks treated prisoners. His first instinct was to rescue the girl, even if the bioscan bit hadn't made that necessary.

The Doctor paused once Romana had finished. He needed a moment. This was a lot to take in all at once. To send a Dalek scout to Gallifrey was an all-out act of war and he knew the Daleks were aware of that. Which meant... Again, the Doctor shuddered. An all-out war with the Daleks... He began hoping this was all some misunderstanding, though his hearts knew better.

"Do you know what the Dalek saw? Was he filming anything specific?" Straight to action, that was the Doctor's usual way. Part of him wanted to take Romana aside and explain why he was back and how, but there wasn't time. She clearly believed Zagreus was gone, so there was no real reason to explain how.

When Mxye regained consciousness, she found herself strapped to a table in the middle of appeared to be a mad scientist's lab. The one in charge approached her. Horrified, she realized her idea of "mad scientist" was not that far from the truth.

"Don't worry, I need you alive," said Davros.

When Davros said not to worry, it made her worry even more. It would surely be a fate worse than death. The noise of machinery could be heard in the background, steadily getting louder. She was a Time Lady, resistant to things that would destroy most species, but even she had her limits.

"What are you going to do with me?" she asked. Not that she thought knowing would help her escape, but she still wanted to know.

"All Daleks will become loyal to me or be destroyed!" he bellowed. "First, I will destroy the Time Lords! I will wipe them out of existance and you will help me."

One of the Daleks took a sample of her blood. More Daleks attached her to pieces of machinery. Myxe wondered if knowing her fate was better for her or not.
