This time of year, the horror movies run rampant, and people are given the wrong impression of what hauntings, possesion, and zombies, always zombies.
You don't have to take this seriously, but from time to time I need to talk.
First, zombies.
I don't know where the whole zombies and brains thing comes from. Zombies obey there zombie masters, and have no motivation to eat anything, or do anything, left to there own devices. Salt, a common form of defending yourself, is said to remind a zombie that they are dead, and many return to there graves never to rise again
Next, ghost.
The average western ghost was just an average western person likely to supprised by the mannor of there own death for it to really take with them. Most would be horrified to think that they were scaring anyone, and shuffle through death not unlike how they shuffled through life. They're sad, and could use help, but they wouldn't do anything to hurt you.
Phantasms on the other hand are bad news for everyone. Phantasms could be considered the spirit of a place, not a person. When enough of an energy, most notably, human suffering, though not limited to humans, gathers it can become aware. They live on fear, pain, sorrow, and would love to scare, even hurt people to create more negitve energy, more dark stories, more faith in the darkness they dwell in. Unlike ghost, they were never alive, and being sent on, sealed away or even destroyed is a temperary fix. So long as the rumors, faith, and pain exist a new one will come to life given enough time. My personal recomendation, is to avoid, or failing that burn the whole place down, sow the ground with salt and try again in 7 generations.
"Demons" are a more complex matter than you might guess. Did you know circles have 360 degrees because of a math deamon? I think it was a prank. I may get more into this latter.
I know by now you likely think I'm mad, but that's ok. By some standarts I am.

The 60 min to an hour and 60 seconds to a minute has demonic origins as well. The whole Sumerian base 60 math thing, infact
